Gorgeous scenery, knowledgeable horse people who with match you up with the right horse for you. Being a complete novice and a little intimidated by these large majestic beasts, Jennifer chose to put my on Max, a stately 32-​year old horse. Try to plan riding while checking the weather forecast. If there is any chance of ice, wind, rain, etc., you will probably get rescheduled for safety issues. If you did hit a bad weather day, you will have the option of riding indoors, but for me being out in nature is what it’s all about. Got over my fear or horses and would highly recommend!

So happy I found this place! I went today with my 5 year old daughter. This was her first time on a horse. They were very patient and encouraging! Great horses, nice tack, beautiful surroundings. Will definitely be going back!

Enjoyed a wonderful day horseback-​riding with my family! We had a great tour guide named Alex who knew so much about horses! We can’t wait to return next summer to go horseback-​riding again!

Not so good. First off, I’m not a novice rider. I have a horse of my own that I ride and drive. The two of us were taken out by a guide into a couple of large fields where we followed the guide along the fence line. This isn’t a trail ride — it’s pasture riding. The horses, although healthy looking, were very stubborn and ill-​behaved, with mouths of iron. Both of them continually dived for the grass as soon as they sensed some slack in their reins. One of the horses was determined to graze so it was very difficult the get his head back up. My horse wasn’t as bad, but I had to pay close attention to keeping her head up and moving or she’d dive on in for some chow. The scenery was pretty, but hard to enjoy when much of our attention involved keeping the horses moving and not eating. We were the only two out with the guide. Although we paid for 2 hours, after 1 hr. 20 minutes we’d both had enough of fighting our horses and went back to the barn. I’m surprised that the person responsible for training these horses would allow that type of behavior to continue in their rental horses. A child would never be able to pull up hard enough to raise the heads of these stubborn animals.

Found this place on Groupon. Had a great time! I would definitely recommend this place.

After having an accident on a horse many years ago I was very hesitant to ever get back on one again. However, it was one of my items on my bucket list. Our instructor was very easy going, helped me to feel at ease, and didn’t push me farther than I felt comfortable with.
I conquered my fears and had a very enjoyable time.

Happy horses in a beautiful setting at the base of awe-​inspiring Job’s Peak.
There were 4 adults and 4 kids and we all enjoyed a one hour ride through a few of the meadows that are adjacent to the well-​maintained stables.
Two of the kids have some prior experience with horses, two adults were first-​timers, and one adult is an experienced rider. Our guide Alisha gave all of us a good experience. The horses were perfectly-​suited to each rider’s level of experience.
We booked the ride over the phone a few weeks in advance and we were given the «Groupon» deal which meant that the cost for a one hour ride was $ 22.50 per person which I think is a great value.
Next time we’re in Tahoe, we’re going to call way in advance and try to go on their trail ride through the Faye-​Luther Wilderness which looks absolutely stunning.

We wandered through their fields with Becca who did a great job with my 8 year old granddaughter. She was personable and professional.
This isn’t a trail ride and you actually get to ride the horses vs. just following one another.
We only went for an hour tour through their fields but I’m sure they do longer rides.
The horses were well maintained and this is close to Tahoe for a quick trip over the hill.

I love trying new things and going on adventures. Thus, my significant other and I ventured to Sheridan Creek for my first ever trail ride.
We had Becca as a guide, and Max and Sheff as our horses. Becca catered to our every need; she was patient, kind, and reassuring. Qualities that I definitely needed in a guide as I started panicking once I got onto my horse, Sheff. I was uneasy at first as Sheff started wobbling and was not perfectly still. I thought I was too fat for Sheff, but in reality, he was merely inhaling and exhaling. Nevertheless, after a couple of deep yogi breaths myself, I kicked Sheff and forced him to slowly move. Afterwards, we just wobbled along the trail as Sheff occasionally sniffed Max’s arse. I then attempted to breathe, be one with Sheff, and stared into the scenic mountain background. Shockingly, it was somewhat relaxing! If I was a bit more experienced (i.e. on my second or third ride), then possibly, the ride would have been much more relaxing.
Overall, I highly recommend Sheridan Creek and Becca. They made my first horseback ride memorable and enjoyable. We will definitely come back the next time we are in South Tahoe.

This place was great. Just took our children on their first ride, my first ride as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend.

We are staying down the road at David Walley’s Resort. This place is only about 5 minutes away and it is absolutely beautiful. My daughter takes lessons in the Bay Area so when I made the reservation, they were very thorough with getting her riding style, skill level, etc. we went yesterday and met «Becca». She was awesome! She gave my daughter a one hour lesson and then a one hour trail ride and gave my daughter so many great riding tips, was patient, knowledgeable, friendly and sweet. If your in the area, don’t hesitate to visit this place! Ask for «Becca»! And my daughter rode «Dolly» and she was a sweet horse!

This place is wonderful! I was greeted by Glenn (?), and he briefly explained what they do there. I took a two hour trail ride with Becky. She was very friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable! She taught me the basics of horse riding. My horse was Max, and hers Gunner. They are adorable and liked to be pet :) We rode on a beautiful afternoon, and the entire experience was excellent.

This place was overall wonderful! It was my first time riding, but the woman who was guiding us was very friendly and helpful. She knew the horses very well, and told us about their habits and what to look for while we were riding. She tailored the experience to what we were comfortable with and wanted to do, so it was very pleasant.
I would definitely recommend it, and if we’re in the area again, we’ll probably return here for horse riding.

This place is great! Everyone is very nice. The facility is beautiful. Kristen does a great job training. I have been trying over the last five years to find a place to ride and feel welcome. If you are looking for a nice and safe place to bring your horse or if you want training for you and/​or your horse, Kristen and Sheridan creek equestrian definitely the place!
