I’ve been here before but never reviewed it. The food before was pretty good. Today not so much. I love their pot stickers before but this time they were burnt and we returned them only for them to be too doughy. Very disappointed this time. I’ll give it one more try and hopefully it will be better!

I love this place. One of the best Asian restaurants that I know of having excellent customer service. Friendly staff. Love their food there most importantly. Honestly, the only Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant I would eat when I have a craving for Chinese food.

EXCELLENT Com Cua La Sen(Crab Fried Rice on Lotus Leaf). First time having this dish ever, and now I wonder why I didn’t eat this dish sooner!

Solid Chinese food establishment although mostly Vietnamese people dine here. I mean, it IS Garland. Service is 5⁄5. The menu is in Chinese, Vietnamese AND English and the staff speaks all 3 languages. I usually come here with the fam since it is family style food. The Peking duck here is pretty good. Crab fried rice(com cua la sen) is pretty tasty too and uses a whole Dungeness crab although you will get small fragments of the crab shells in the rice. NOBIGDEAL. The dish is bomb. Those are probably their two most famous/ordered dishes. Some dishes are meh but we’ve pretty much got our usual order down to a tee and we know which dishes are solid and which to avoid. Orange beef here is unlike most other Chinese restaurants. The beef is really tender and you can really taste the orange flavor. Their beef is generally pretty tender in all their beef dishes. Salty fried squid here is standard. Shrimp fried with cheese is another staple in our fam. Plus, at the end of your meal they give you a choice between a red bean tapioca dessert or oranges(free!).

This place is amazing! The service was on point. From the moment we entered the restaurant, my wife and I were immediately greeted by the staff and seated promptly. The staff was quick to serve us drinks and take our order. We ordered the Peking duck and the water spinach and it was phenomenal! Our food was out in a timely manner and it topped our expectations. The duck was rich and moist while the skin had the crunch of a crackling. The peking duck was served with steamed buns, a hoisin-like sauce(probably their variation), and a side of cilantro and finely sliced onion. For those of you unfamiliar with this dish it’s like an Asian style duck taco. The water spinach is just that, spinach, but it’s Asian cousin has longer thicker stems which gives it better structure allowing the spinach to maintain some bite and not wilt into a plate of green mush. The water spinach is sautéed perfectly with fresh garlic keeping the flavor profile: clean, simple, and fresh. We can’t wait to go back and try other things on menu but that first dish may be hard to pass up.

Crab fried rice and peking duck are yummy dishes. Great hole in the wall restaurant. I highly recommend this place!

Tasty China’s Peking duck was really good, it comes with one duck and 15 buns. The skin was crispy and definitely complimented the tender duck meat. The other dishes were good as well. The crab fried rice was really good, but at times it got annoying when shattered pieces of the shell would get mixed in with it.

Crab fried rice, crab noodle soup, and beef satay noodles are my favorites here. This is a classic Chinese restaurant. The service is good. The people are nice.

I went here today for the first time in a while. This place used to be really good. Maybe today was just an off day, but not very good.

When I came today, and I was sat immediately! Our server was wonderful and helped with a few questions on the menu. I started with the wonton soup, it tasted wonderful and came out quickly. We then ordered salt and pepper crab and when it came out it was huge! It was the best crab that I’ve ever had. Cooked perfectly and the breading was super crispy. You pay for what you get!

I haven’t been here in the longest time since it’s a drive, but there seems to always be a wedding happening here. Make reservations if you plan on going for dinner with a large group of people. I honestly can’t remember the names of all the dishes we had, but what stuck out is the fried cheese crab. There are very very few Chinese dishes with cheese. Actually, this is the only dish I know about with cheese. As a cheese and seafood lover, the fried cheese crab is awesome. I loved it as a child, and I love it now. Unfortunately, I don’t know how much it is since I just eat what the elders order… Service is prompt and polite here. It might have been due to the wedding going on in the next room, but I always appreciate good service.

Horrible experience! I have been coming to this restaurant for about 5 years now. It used to be very good. Not anymore. I went with a coworker and she did not like the seafood combination plate. It was on some kind of hard noodles that looked more like a straw hat than food. We told the waiter right away and asked if they could bring something else. He said no. I was stunned, really. I asked again, are sure there is nothing you can do? He said«let me talk to the manager». He never came back. After 15 minutes I could not eat any more of my happy family plate which was awful by the way. The meat was over cooked and rubbery and the sauce was think and salty Bla. Finally I ask for the check but asked that we not be charged for my coworker’s plate because she did not eat it. They said«you order, your fault, you have to pay.» Wow! Ok, I’ll pay but you know you’re going to lose a lot of business over that $ 4 dollar plate of food right? «I’m not the owner, just a cashier; you can come back and talk to the owner if you like.» Ok, what’s the owner’s name? «Oh I don’t know how to say it in English» .Totally outrageous behavior! Needless to say I will never be back.

Tasty China is a Chinese restaurant in Garland that serves up traditional family style food. It’s also a place that serves up the always crowd pleasing Crab Fried rice, which is the main reason I come here. My Overall Rating — 3 ½ Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Upon entering Tasty China, you’ll be met with a strong smell on incense. Yup, no doubt you’re in a Chinese restaurant. The place itself feels a bit run down, as if the owners are content with it aging. There’s a sizable dining area with very large tables for family style dining, and smaller tables up front for smaller groups. It’s clean though, but really needs an update. No Star. Service — Our servers were excellent. Although I must say that our visit on a Wednesday night had only two large parties there, our group and another. So they were not busy, but they were extremely attentive and helpful. Every request was met, clean dishes swapped out regularly, water refilled, etc. Some of the best service I’ve had at a Chinese restaurant. 1 Star. Food — I go to restaurants for specific dishes, and for Tasty China it’s the crab fried rice. It’s similar to ABC Seafood in Arlington, where they take a whole crab and use it. Very tasty, but if I’m being honest I do like the one at ABC better. But Tasty China does a great job. In fact, all our dishes were great, including a very fresh non-ripened mango shrimp salad. Other hits were the crab & bamboo soup(yes I had seconds). In fact, every dish was quality and served family style — meaning you should bring friends to eat it. 1 ½ Stars. Will I Return? — Yes. If my reasons for eating was food alone, Tasty China is a solid 4 maybe even 5 star place. But I can’t overlook its upkeep. That being said, if you want some tasty Chinese food including a wonderful crab fried rice, book a trip to Tasty China. I for one will be back. 1 Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

The food I tried was mediocre. What gives this place two stars is that the incense pumped into the air is unable to hold back the mold smell from the carpets lurking in the air. Also, as far as I know, bubble gum blotches on the carpet is not a popular decoration. The crispy duck was good, but the seafood soup was subpar and I could not finish it. The owner and staff are nice. I would recommend cleaning up the carpets and other areas of the restaurant to move into a 3 star range.

I’ve only had one dish so far and it was a seafood soup with bits and pieces of crab and a thick rice noodle. House special crab meat with noodles I believe is what it’s called, recommended by friend. It’s super delicious, I love how the soup had a thick texture to it and there is real crab meat in the soup. It’s a hearty soup for a cold day!

I cannot get over their cheese crusted Lobster and Crabs. Good price? Check! Good food? Check! Open at odd hours and holidays? Check! Peking duck with steamed bun, heavenly. I don’t think any other restaurant does this dish better. If it wasn’t for this place I don’t know where my family would go eat during the peak holidays. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but the place is decent. Their seafood is fresh, they have a little aquarium to raise them up until the moment they go into your plate. I will come back for you, Cheesy Crusted Lobster.

Just had family dinner here last week, all 30 of us. We ordered the seafood family dinner($ 229 for 10). The food was outstanding. Fresh. Excellent service. This was the first time we ate here after they got a new owner. We have been coming here for years. My favorite: Cheese crusted lobster(the best I have ever had anywhere, that’s saying a lot because I am … ahem. a pretty good cook). Confirm BYOB.

I had been meaning to check this place out, and after a long day of work, some dirty chinese felt like a good choice for dinner. the interior of tasty china reminded me of those dirty and old chinese restaurants on bellaire blvd in houston, which is a good thing. cuz those dirty and old chinese restaurants are damn good. the menu was long and full of chinese food mixed with vietnamese translations and english subtitles. JUSTLIKEBELLAIRE! this place would be akin to sinh sinh, tay do, or Confucius down in chinatown in houston. anyway, it was just the two of us, so i unfortunately couldn’t order the famous crab fried rice or lobster or steamed fish, but i want to so bad next time i’m in a group of 5ish hungry people. fried tofu appetizer — very good. silken tofu battered and lightly fried to a crispy shell with oh so silky inside. comes with an ok-ish soy sauce. fried ground shrimp wrapped in bean curd skin — very good. comes with sweet and sour sauce. it would taste better with a soy sauce or fish sauce. i love fried food! hainan chicken with lemongrass, ginger, and onion sauce — soooo tender and juicy chicken. sauce was amazing. i could eat this everyday. a simple dish done right. i want to go back and try all their special seafood dishes. i love dirty dirty chinese food and to find this stuff in DFW is amazing! i’m still looking for a dirty dirty vietnamese restaurant in DFW that is similar to houston’s tan tan or chino’s fast food. the quest continues…
