Anytime Fitness Geneva

Five years later and I still go to this gym. I’ve been going to the St. Charles location off and on just to change up scenery, but there is an EXTREMELY obnoxious trainer at that location that has completely turned me off to that club. Won’t be going back to that one anymore. Brian and his wife own the Geneva location and they are really personable and keep the location in great condition. Since starting here they’ve updated the floors in the weight area and painted. It all still looks new. Nothing is ever out of service for longer than a couple days. I also just plain LOVE the location and the layout of this location. It feels very chic and modern compared to the other Anytime locations ive been to. Nice and spread out and sectioned off. I only wish they had a stairstepper machine. That is literally my ONLY hang up with this gym.

I did the 7 day trial at the Geneva location although it was actually 6 days because I was told I couldn’t go on Sunday. For the trial the hours were also limited between 10 & 2 and 4 & 7 which may not be convenient for some people including myself. However the gym was nice and so was the staff. It’s clean and had enough equipment for most people. I especially liked that the cardio machines because they each had their own LCD. The gym seemed to catered to older adults and was generally quiet and empty when I went.
The second day I tried the treadmills. The first one I couldn’t get the LCD to work. I switched to another and couldn’t get the belt to move. I tried a third one and again the LCD wasn’t working. Finally the fourth treadmill I tried was fine. Amy who was on duty validated the problems. Note that by the time my trial was over they had fixed all three machines which is what you want in a gym. There was a small general public changing area with lockers but no separate locker rooms although they had a couple of private shower rooms which was nice. To join I was told they would wave the signup fee, charge me $ 39.99 a month and $ 60 for a key which seemed ridiculous for just a key. All for a 12 month commitment.
On the last day of my trial I noticed a brand new Planet Fitness down the road. This gym offers so much more for half the price of what Anytime Fitness wanted. For $ 1 down no contract $ 19.99 a month they have more than twice as much equipment, as good if not better equipment in many cases, access to massage hydro beds, message chairs, red light therapy and tanning beds noting its also one of the cleanest gyms I’ve been to. I can also bring a guest with me as many times as I want. Sold!
Although Anytime Fitness would have been a fine choice for me I couldn’t pass up the deal at Planet Fitness.

Great place to work out. Not like the big box fitness centers, calm and peaceful, very clean and great choice of equipment.

One of the best. Very clean. Never busy. Great equipment. Showers are fine, not great but better than most.
They have two precor amt machines which are my favorite
My only negative comment is they have water and Gatorade available but it is locked up and no one is ever there to take your money so you can’t buy them. They should either do the honor system or have a machine

Anytime Fitness Geneva is not you’re stereotypical intimidating ‘big box’ gym. This facility is for people who want to workout at a convenient location, have ²⁴⁄₇ gym access, use top of the line equipment, and have the comfort of knowing they will not be bothered by staff or other exercisers. If you’re looking for a meat market, this ain’t it. This isn’t a gym you go to looking to obnoxiously show off or linger around guzzling protein shakes and staring people down. It’s a no nonsense facility where you can do your thing and go. I always felt comfortable here, and there’s a nice community feel to it. The facility is open around the clock, which is nice especially if your schedule isn’t rock solid. Another great feature is that the facility shares a parking lot with the Geneva police department. This might not sound like a big deal but I’ve heard women mention that this was a big selling point for them because a dark parking lot is generally not a safe place to be, especially when you’re alone. If you want easy access to best gym equipment available without being intimidated or harassed, this is your place.

While the fitness facilities are fine, don’t be fooled by their «free trial offer.» This offer only applies to full-​time Geneva residents.

For the price alone, I don’t see why I would join this place over Xsport where I used to have a membership —
Joining Fee = $ 90 (although January’s promo is only $ 45)
12 Month Membership = $ 37 per month
18 Month Membership = $ 32 per month
Cancellation Notice = 30 days notice, but you have to pay $ 150 fine if you are say 6 months into your membership agreement.
Classes? Yes, but they are EXTRA $$$.
Less amenties and less staff but you pay the same price. (Xsport even has a pool in some of their locations!) Not cool. My expectation was it would be less, FAR LESS, than a regular gym.
Then I was just disappointed by the whole experience. I signed up for a 7 day free pass only to find out I couldn’t just go when I wanted to. I first had to do a tour. Ok, so I went this morning to get a tour and find out that only «participating locations» do 7 day free passes. This location is doing a different promotion for January and 1 day passes only can be granted. So why did they send me a free 7 day pass email with a code to get into the place??? You have to specify which gym you are interested in going to and I noted Geneva. So much for my expectation of trying to see if I could work working out into my very tough and harried work schedule with this gym
I don’t get the value proposition here and I don’t like have expectation A and getting experience B. Grrr. Waste of time!

Great gym. Always able to use equipment when needed. I do go at off hours…6am. Clean. Good variety of equipment. 24 hour availability is awesome.

I love this gym! The equipment is always very clean, and well maintained. A full range of treadmills, etc. with TVs attached. No loud music and bright lights so the atmosphere is perfect for me. They offer two showers (they are really full bathrooms, which is nice); again, very clean. Again, I love this gym and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable gym.
