Dominick’s

I love Dominick’s, so I can’t score them less than a 3. But David M had it right when he said that sometimes they’re a little understaffed. Granted, I’ve never been in a line with 10 people, but I have waited a pretty long time to buy the quick essentials that I pick up on my way home from work.
As much as I love Dominick’s and would almost always go out of my way to shop at one versus Jewel, this one isn’t really my favorite.
They do have clearance stuff just like my favorite Glen Ellyn Dominick’s, but it seems they always have a lot, like they’re not selling anything by the due date. There are always 50% off Dairy products, so I find myself having to search through items to make sure that the due date isn’t past or shortly coming up.
Overall, not terrible, but not great. Sad.

Honestly, this is too far away from our home for us to shop for groceries here, but one thing we’ve now done for two years straight is order our son’s birthday cake here.
The bakery here is amazing and they go out of their way to ensure that you get exactly what you want. Never once have we heard «umm, we can’t do that» especially when we ask for a double-​filling.
They have a wide selection of commercially available themes (Elmo, Toy Story, etc.) and they make everything very visually appealing without going too overboard. For little kids the more color and action you can put on the cake the better and they hit a really nice balance here.
Two big thumbs up for the Bakery here.
