Today was the day our furnace decided to stop heating the house. After a few unsuccessful DIY attempts (meaning I turned it off and on and off and back on followed by turning the heat higher) it was time for the professionals. Called Patrick’s Heating & Air and within 30 minutes someone was at the house. After diagnosing the issue, talking me through the issue and solution we now have heat. Patrick’s has been at the house more than once for other service and each time I feel confident and secure that the proper work in being quoted and completed in a professional manner and there is absolutely no upselling or scare tactics. From the front office, to the onsite work and products Patrick’s Heating & Air Conditioning is first rate. If you are looking for cheap work, ok products and so so service do not call Patrick’s. This guy is good. Have been using Roger for 7+ years. I have zoned heating and air conditioning meaning I have two furnaces that are 14 years old. Roger came today corrected the problem in less than 10 minutes no charge. That is what I call Customer service.

A few weeks back my unit froze up. I am new to area and read reviews and contacted them. I am a big supporter of local businesses. Young man showed up, but didn’t offer much help beyond, looks like it was low on Freon. I asked questions on leakage, or if he could recommend a different option. The only other option was a complete replace — maybe like 2500 dollars. After a few calls to the «big boss», he explained he could add Freon and it would be 325 dollars (3lbs) plus 100 service call. No guarantee other than if it didn’t work he would be willing to credit towards more expensive fix. Having limited options, and heading into one of the hottest weekends, I said yes. Soon, there was trouble, according to him it wasn’t filling. Another call to big boss. I return to him saying «it is all good». What happened I ask? He explained that the gauges were new and he was reading them incorrectly, though they looked well used. I spoke with him some and he acknowledged he was new, but had been working for them for 4 years and just completed his education. Understand, he did resolve issue — but I have no confidence and lacked any sense of professionalism.

Roger installed a new furnace in late 2010. The previous A/​C work above it (Perfect Climate’s work, tried them and got nowhere) leaked into the new furnace, but Roger was able to fix things right up, and we’ve had flawless heating and A/​C since then.
He also solved a hot water heater issue with great resourcefulness and finesse. He was able to locate just a section (a KEY component) of our water heater setup, which otherwise was sold new as a single unit, and retrofitted the section to our unit. Several other companies quoted me a new hot water heater right over the phone, without knowing what we really needed. (One guy at a local shop even hesitated when I asked him if his company installed residential hot water units. Whaaa???)
Roger is FAST, he is a very fair business owner, and he stands behind his products and service. While I am never happy to have to call out a repair person, at least I know I can count on Roger and his team.

We have been steady customers of Patrick’s since there was a Patrick. Roger, the current owner, bought the company when Patrick retired some years ago. He is as honest and diligent now as he was when he was Patrick’s chief installer. He delivers on sales, installation, and service. The few times there has been an emergency response has been as quick and thorough as we could have wanted.

In February 2011 our furnace went out on a Saturday. I decided to call one of the largest HVAC companies in Chicago, they advertise everywhere and are well known. They came by and after inspecting the unit told me I needed a new motor and that the cost would be around $ 800. He didn’t have the part on the truck and would come back Monday. I was obviously disappointed at this but wasn’t in a position to haggle seeing as though it was 20 degrees outside. After the technician left, I did some research on the internet and found that the part was only about $ 180!!! I subsequently called Patrick’s and the gentlemen who called me back insisted on coming over that Saturday LATE afternoon to give me a free inspection since he was in the area to ensure the part was indeed needing replacement. I ofcourse told him the story regarding the part and he agreed to take care of me with a reasonable price for his labor. He called me first thing Monday morning as promised from his supply store, and confirmed our agreed upon price and it was fixed by 10am that morning. I ended up saving 100’s of dollars because I did my research, but also because Patrick’s was honest and fair in dealing with me. Sometimes the «big guys» aren’t the best, your local «family» type businesses are a great option.
