Specialties

We specialize in a «big box» selection presented with «small shop» service. We carry the known labels as well as the limited, collectible ones. We will help you select your wine and spirits for tonight’s dinner or tomorrow’s fundraiser. We will order your favorite craft beer if we don’t carry it (provided it’s not out of stock). Our customers are not numbers to us, but first names.

History

Established in 1964.

The original location for SavWay Fine Wines & Spirits in Geneva was near North Third Street. The move to State Street occurred in 1973.

I don’t know why I didn’t attempt to browse this store sooner, since I finally did so right after going to Penrose Brewing. Plus narrowly made it before the store closed for a Sunday.
They may not have every last beer or liquor option vs. Binny’s, but it’s darn close in the amount of selection, and the prices are very competitive. I even found a bottle of Bitter Chocolatier by Scorched Earth, not too far out of season! It’s regularly brewed in mid to late winter, and they still had a few bombers left at this store 6 – 9 months later. I later went to a beer bottle share, and that beer was a hit at that event.
Thanks SavWay! I feel bad I didn’t check this store out sooner, but I’ll never forget to go by for a quick look before or after Penrose now. It seems like people still overlook this store to some extent, but if they continue to do, more choices for me. :)

Great staff, good selection of alcohol — beer, wine, spirits. They also sell chips, cheeses, crackers, olives, etc.
We had a choice between stopping here or Binny’s for some beer — but I prefer to give my business to local businesses — this place has been around for decades. I felt totally comfortable looking around, checking the sales, etc. Never felt any pressure to hurry up and buy.
Prices were very reasonable. Would totally return if I am back in the area.

This place is within 3 blocks stumbling distance from my house. Right there– 3 stars. Variety and selection of boutique wines and reasonable pricing bring the rating to 4 ½ stars. Friendly and knowledgeable sales team, teetering on 5 stars. Being a dog-​friendly, local, unpretentious business makes it a solid 5 stars. Stop in to find a great wine that you may have tried at a restaurant or at least something interesting and comparable. The staff will steer you in the right direction, at any price point.

Its no secret that I spend a lot of time talking to people about wine and alot of this time is spent behind a bar, tableside or in a retail outlet where fine wine and spirits are sold which led me to find this hidden gem nestled in the heart of Geneva.
The staff at this location is AMAZING, very professional and pretty well versed in the wines of the world. I was very impressed by the vast selection of both wines and craft beers, its not what you would expect from a mini liquor store chain in the Fox Valley. Much better pricing and selection than either Dominick’s or Jewel and the staff was very passionate about their products. Really nice selection of specialty foods too, however, primarily wine, spirits and beer.
Super clean store and very well organized with exceptional values on pretty much everything. Great place to browse and often taste some new and interesting products. Oh and did I mention, no Cook County taxes? That alone is worth the trip!
