Centex Propane an Independent Propane Company

Dear Centex Propane, now Suburban Propane: I done fired all y’all. Centex got bought out by Suburban a few years back, and after some 14 years of service, I am saying don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you. I never had a complaint until about two years ago. We had a truck visit to fill us, they would do the standard line test, then propane guy says «You have a leak.» $ 99 for leak test. Propane test guy says «No you don’t.» Next time we fill up, propane guy says «You have a leak.» $ 99 for leak test. Propane test guy says «No you don’t.» Repeat ad nauseam. Then in March, propane guy said «It’s the heater» and red-​tags my heater. No heat during 30-​degree weather until heater guy comes the next morning and says «It’s not the heater. Call a plumber, because I think it is your stove.» Called plumber. Due to 30-​degree weather, plumber could not see me for a few days, so when he does, well, no leaks found after about $ 200 worth of visitation and testing. So, two third-​party professionals cannot find what propane guy says is there. Heater guy turns my heater back on, and I call y’all to get the red tag off my heater — crickets. A month later, y’all call me out of the blue because you were checking up as to whether my red-​tag situation has been resolved. Well, yes, and no … So a propane guy comes out, says we are low, though he cannot fill it because he didn’t come in the propane-​carrying truck. Fine. Let’s schedule for Tuesday so that I can chain up my dog. I’ll give all y’all another chance. Well, Monday morning, I get call from my elderly mother-​in-​law that you showed up a day early, and let my dog out. Then the propane guy did not make any effort to catch her — told my mother-​in-​law that it was not his problem. Great. Had to leave work to corral my dog. By this time, the neighborwomen have been talking about how they fired all y’all months back. Some with the same situation — the non-​existent leak. We also think your propane guy has a vagina problem. That is when a service tech notices that I have one, and resolves to screw me, with the bonus of getting paid for it. We also acknowledged that the non-​existent-​leak guy is pretty curt and rude with us. We don’t think he needs to bake us a cake or anything, but he at least needs to treat us in a respectful manner. They also let me know that when they fired all y’all, you left their empty tank on their property for a couple of months. Thank goodness we do not have a homeowners’ association, or else we would be fined for operating a scrap yard without a license. I have to keep your tank for another month or so because (a) I still have propane in it, and (b) due to the frog-​drowning rain we have had recently, the ground is too soft for your competitor to use the heavy equipment to siphon from your tank to their tank and replace your tank with theirs. But when they do, I will call all y’all to retrieve your tank. If I hear crickets again for 30 days, your tank will be sold as scrap. Your customer service group is nice and quite understanding, but I am done. They asked me what they could do to retain my patronage, but honestly, nothing. (I forgive the female CSR for LHAO when I told her the definition of a vagina problem, and I really felt bad telling her manager that y’all’s company could do absolutely nothing to keep me as a customer.) I’ve given second and third chances, hoping to make this relationship work out, but it just is not happening. Just a damn shame when a big fish gobbles a smaller fish and changes the pond for the worst. Buh-​bye.

Suburban Propane/​Centex Propane/​Independence Propane:
Just had a terrible experience. I been scheduled since Thursday March 6^th for a new installation of propane (NEW CUSTOMER) and talked with Leah in the Llano office. Called back today to verify we were still confirmed for a new installation date of Wed, March 19^th and she stated that the other office location is unable to provide the service to me as there are only 3 technicians working and they are scheduled 2 – 3 weeks out. Really? TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service. What happened to me being scheduled? I would never recommend this company as there is not trust in the scheduling date.

Centex Propane has been an staple in Georgetown Round Rock, Austin, Taylor and many other town for over forty years. The Georgetown Office has some of the nicest and most prompt deliverymen i have ever met. They go out of their way to ensure that your propane system is safe and they never let me run out of gas in the winter.
