This place is a disgrace to our community. They lie to you about the purchase price. It will change in finance.

I went to Frank Shoop’s service department to have the second oil change on my new dodge caravan before we departed for a 12 hour drive on vacation. We made it 1 hour and 30 minutes down the interstate when the van lost all power, all engine lights came one and we were on the side of the road. The service department forgot to install the rubber gasket on the oil filter and all the oil had poured out during the drive.
I contacted the Frank Shoop service manager about the issue and acted as I were lying and kept telling me the other dealer must take pictures. He told me he would call me back and I had to call him the following day.
I can’t review the sales department as I did not purchase my van from Frank Shoop. I have also encountered 1 very rude lady in the service department.

Stopped by the other day to discuss a service issue. They were very helpful and friendly. I am looking forward to using them in the future.

Here is part of my letter to Mr. Shoop. Unfortunately not enough characters. But I put the rest of it trough comments.
My name is Anton. I own a livery/​limo Company in Michigan.
I would like to share the experience I had at your dealership last night on the 11÷20÷14.
I called the day before yesterday and talked to Greg in sales about one of your vehicles I found on

It was 2014 black Chrysler 300. The price was $ 20 998 and after talking about it with Greg I agreed to pay the full tag price for it.
Then he told me they didn’t have a title for it. However later in the day he called back and said that title was actually at Chrysler Finance and they would overnight it to them.
I told Greg that I have my own Bank to finance it and he needs to call my loan officer Meggie to provide paperwork for the car. I also mentioned that we always pay taxes in Michigan when we buy cars out of state. That was not a problem at that point. So Greg called my bank and took care of the paperwork. Faxed bill of sale and copy of the title, got approval and that’s it. My bank financed lots of cars for me so they know the procedure like 1,2,3.
So next morning I pick up a certified check from the bank for the 80%+fees. Also grab certified check from my credit union for 20% down payment and I’m on my way to Kentucky.
When travel should usually take 6 hours, it took 2 hours longer due to the snowstorm we had here.
I arrived one hour before closing to the Frank Shoop, and that’s when the all the «fun» started. First thing Greg tells me that title did not arrive. I found this a little inconvenient but not a tragedy. I would pay today and they would overnight the title tomorrow. He was not sure whether I or Meggie should receive the title. I responded that it is me who is responsible for the tittle however we both agreed that he should first double check with Meggie about the title final destination.
I asked Greg to provide me with paperwork that there are no known problems with the car (basic disclosure) and they would mail me the title as soon as they get it.
He said ok and left to work on the paperwork. About half an hour later he came back and asked me to follow him back. And that’s when I met Robert…
We shook hands and he started talking. First he said that it is too late and they can’t verify my credit union check. First he grabbed my bank check and said they don’t have any problem with it. Then he took my credit union check by the corner like it was a poisons snake, waived it in my face and told me that he is not taking it as there are no watermark protections. I said that if he is ok with the fees I can give him my credit or debit card and he can charge it. That seemed to solve the problem.
Next thing he says: «Hey, what’s up with the taxes…». I repeated that I pay taxes in Michigan, as I always do when I buy cars out of state. We talked about it with Greg and we clearly did not include them in the bill of sale as agreed. Among car dealer representatives I dealt with Robert was the first one who was not aware of this common practice in the interstate commerce. Then he starts telling me that among 20 cars he sold out of state he always collected taxes in Kentucky.
I responded that I can’t pay taxes here and if they wanted me to, I wouldn’t be able to buy the vehicle.
And that is when Robert snapped. I’m not sure I’m giving you the exact word-​to-​word speech, maybe Greg can be more specific, as he was present in the room at that moment. That is what he said: «Listen to me, since you came all the way here to Kentucky from Michigan that means we are the best deal and you are not going anywhere. I’m the main guy here and it us up to me whether I sell this car to you or not. So why won’t you take this cheap of you shoulder and do it the way I say». He was angry and I thought he was ready to punch me in the face.
First I opened my mouth to say something, but words would not come out. I was shocked. So I just took my checks (I think I left my proof of insurance on his desk) and left.
Let me mention couple things. I went to Kentucky is because I found that is not too far and I can get the car same day instead of waiting for shipping as I usually do. I would spend $ 1000 and could buy about the same vehicle in Brighton, MI, which is only 100 miles away from Detroit. The only reason I drove to Kentucky is Greg. He was polite and helpful in comparison to the dealer in Brighton, who seemed just not to care.
I never expected it to go this way. If I knew I would just wire the money. But last Lincoln dealer I drove to in Indiana was willing to meet me on a Saturday evening half way down towards me. We finalized our deal in a McDonalds… I never even thought something can go wrong with Frank Shoop situation as we ok’ed the deal and Greg said yes, please come. We talked about the details, they called my bank, faxed the paperwork…

Frank Shoop’s Service Center is amazing. I was driving ten hours from Northeast Ohio to Eastern Tennessee, along my travels my brake fluid line broke. Thankfully I took their exit off the highway. The staff was great! They seen that I was in a pickle and helped me out. At first the part I needed was going to take two days to order but I had an interview the next day, so that wasn’t an option. The guys got together and made their own line. I am really thankful for their customer service and if I ever break down again (fingers crossed I don’t) I hope it is near the same exit.
