From the Owner

My goal as a therapist is to provide a supportive and compassionate therapeutic environment to help my clients heal and grow. I provide counseling services to individuals, families, and couples. My practice is informed by a foundation of humanistic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and the Gottman approach to working with couples. Additionally, I have experience utilizing exposure therapy to address phobic responses and anxiety. Lastly, I am a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, and strongly believe in this therapeutic tool as a means to explore the many facets of marital relationships and to provide concrete direction for growth.

History

Established in 2015.

From the Owner

I started Georgetown Counseling because I wanted to offer therapeutic services in a relaxed, home-like environment. Seeking mental health support often feels intimidating, and my hope is to take some of the fear out of the process with transparent practices and genuine compassion for my clients. If you think you could benefit from counseling services, I encourage you to contact me to set up a phone consultation to discuss your specific needs. The fit between client and therapist is of paramount importance, so if we determine that your needs would be better met by another professional, please know that I will be happy to offer referral services to other providers.

Meet the Business Owner

Kristi W.

Business Owner

I earned a master’s degree from Texas State University in professional counseling with an emphasis in marital, couples, and family counseling. I completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. My education has prepared me for clinical work with couples, families, and individuals. I have a special interest in helping couples rediscover the connection between them, and empowering each individual to find ways to enrich their relationships. In addition to working with couples and families, I have a strong interest in addressing issues related to depression and anxiety, exploring clients’ thought processes and new potential ways of thinking. When it is impossible to change factors external to oneself, I believe the answer lies in adjusting our ways of thinking.
