Service here is literally the pits. But the burger beats any drive thru burger by a mile. I LOVE a grilled tasting burger. Also, I recently tried the shrimp po boy and was moderately happy. They didn’t put enough sauce on the sandwich. I expected it to be the opposite and like every other place, I would be scraping off excess sauce. It was a bit dry. The bread was OK but nothing great. The lettuce and tomato were eh… but the spring mix was a nice addition. The shrimp were the redeeming feature. Plenty of big butterflied shrimp. I like the Cordova Danver’s better ;)

The food and service is always great! However the moldy salad dressing package was not inspected prior to handing out. Just a little more attention to detail would be greatly appreciated!

The service was pathetic. I simply ordered a roast beef with fries and they somehow forgot that I ordered in a matter of 5 minutes with very few people there(I understand why now). However, what seemed to be the owners walked through the door and you would have thought that they also brought in brand-new workers. The employees came around making sure we had everything we needed and asking how our food was. Maybe they should stay there to babysit on a regular basis. The cleanliness is what kept me from giving this place a single star. Everything seemed to be spotless which can be hard to do with a salad bar.

Food: 4 stars Service: 2 ½ stars We’ve had a busy summer, school is getting back in. At home, we’ve already been through the emergency frozen pizzas and chicken nuggets, so on our way home from the kids’ activities, we drove thru Danvers. I love their grilled chicken sandwiches; they put ketchup on grilled chicken, which is something I would NEVER do at home, but somehow with the warm wilted shredded lettuce, it works. The buns are squishy and white, and soaked with all the good juices and moisture of whatever is on your sandwich. So, we pull up to the speaker, and whatever she’s saying is unintelligible(because the speaker is old and failing, no error on her part). I pull up to the window, and it takes 2 minutes for her to get to me to take my order, because she has to replace the battery in her headset. I place the order, she is very polite, and asks us to pull into a parking space, where she will bring our order out to us. We do. After 5 minutes, she comes outside and confirms that we wanted that turkey sandwich plain, and everything no onions on the chicken. A minute later, our food is out and we’re on our way. She forgot the tartar sauce for the catfish sandwich(Forgivable). The food is great– our family always eats everything right up. The fries are my favorite– somehow they are brown and puffed up and still crispy on the outside and airy light on the inside. Their service is s-l-o-w. Friendly, southern & syrupy, but slow. Be prepared to be patient and have your patience rewarded.

I went in Saturday for breakfast after walking the Greenway line on Humhpreys and it was great and the crew was very good too. 24 hours later for lunch on Sunday it was the total opposite! I ordered the chicken and rice with mashed potatoes and cornbread(and salad bar). First thing I noticed the counters and trays for food were all soaking wet. Then I was told they had no mashed potatoes so I substituted a baked. Then the employee came back and said they had no cornbread so I said a biscuit was fine. When I got the food the rice under the chicken was so under cooked or worse dried out I nearly broke a tooth and just threw it away. It was disappointing since the breakfast experience Saturday was so good I decided to try lunch the next day on Sunday and it was very bad. Sorry to say it seems like Danver’s at Kirby and Poplar is still the same. When it is good it is great but they are so inconsistent and when it is bad it is bad enough to not go back for a good while. I feel bad writing this because I would love to make it a regular stop with the great location to my bank and the Greenway but how the heck can they come up so short for the Sunday lunch hours and especially when pictures of their newly marketed lunch and dinner specials are everywhere you turn inside the joint?
