Great option for Iftar. My family and I visited recently for Iftar/dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the generous(free) offerings for Iftar before we got our a la carte order. They told me they had initially kept an Iftar buffet as well but discontinued after few takers. That’s a shame, because their food is great and there are virtually no Iftar buffet options in Montgomery County. The Iftar consisted of piping hot samosas, pakoras, Rooh Afza and dates – all free for those who are fasting. You can also order freshly made Jalebis and spring rolls to go with. The dishes we ordered for dinner came right after we prayed Maghrib. They provide prayer mats to offer namaz on a secluded, clean pavement area behind the building. We ordered beef kabab karahi, chicken tikka masala, and chicken biryani. All were excellent and cooked perfectly. From recent experience I can also say that their halwa puri and Nihari on weekends can give the best Pakistani restaurants in the DMV area a run for their money. All in all this is a great family-owned restaurant and an underrated gem. They need to get a bit better with advertising as I don’t believe a lot of folks in Montgomery County are aware of their offerings.

A true gem in the area. Explored their buffet on a Sunday, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of their food. Visited many times since, never had a complain thus far. Their menu is not very extensive, when compared to other Ind/pak restaurants in the area, but their quality is indeed exceptional. Worth a visit !!!

I gave it 2, not 1, because we are spoiled by going to much better Indian restaurants. First, the naan was very good. Not the best I have but I would easily give it a 4 star for it. Our issue was the food itself. We ordered buttered chicken and Chicken Tikka. First, the Chicken Tikka had a decent flavor, but the rice it came with was completely cold. The buttered chicken was hot, but both chicken dishes had a funny texture about them. We could swear that they were frozen prior, and then reheated based on how touch and the texture. Either way, my wife has never left buttered chicken on her plate, but she left about half of her half. She had absolutely nothing good to say about the place except the naan, which is sad. It is really close and the prices are pretty good for the portion size. I told her that maybe we should go back and try one more time, but her reply was that the website mentions former chefs, so they must work there or own it. If that is the case, there should be no reason for the food to be as bad as it was.

Definitely happy that we have this restaurant so close. The food is great, love the lamb and chicken dishes most of all.

Germantown Kabob and Sweets came about when the chef at Eastern Kabob and Sweets decided to start his own restaurant. With that in mind, the restaurants are NEARLY identical, in name and menu offerings. Where it differs is in presentation and execution. The restaurant is well decorated, and inviting. It is a huge huge space, and they have it set up very well. I was not expecting it when I placed my to go order to be honest. But really matters is the food! My friend and I did take out, and we overdid our order as we usually do. I ordered the Charcoal platter(2 lamb chops, pieces of boneless chicken tikka, and traditional tandoori chicken) which came with rice, two naans, and side of daal. it normally comes with channa, but I decided to substitute it. Also ordered a bhindi(okra) masala. My friend ordered the chaat papri, and chicken tikka masala. The food overall was amazing, but I wasn’t expecting anything less. The spice level is where I want it to be, the meat in the Charcoal platter was tender and juicy. This is where presentation and execution comes into play… the chaat papri. Numerous time I order chaat papri from places, and it ends up leaking in my bag with the yogurt and chutney getting all over the place, and the papri pieces getting soggy before I can even get home. They pulled a very smart, and really simple, move of giving you your green yogurt chutney, and tamarind chutney… ONTHESIDE. Really, it seems like such an obvious move… and it changes the whole game. There were no leaky yogurt bags, or soggy chaat. I highly recommend coming here. You’re going to get really great food, at a reasonable price.

Wow!!! We had no idea a Halal Indo Pakistani restaurant had opened here until we Unilocaled for delivery tonight. My daughter and I were so excited to try Germantown Kabob & Sweets… ordered Mango Lassi, Samosa Chat, Pakora Curry, Chicken Keema Naan, garlic Naan, and a half pound of Gulab Jamun. This came with generous containers of their yummy special sauces. Everything was fresh and delicious, the servings were VERY generous and the prices were great. Everything tasted like it was made from scratch. My daughter loved their Gulab Jamun and said it must be homemade. I’m going to enjoy making my way through all of their vegetarian dishes one at a time, and there are so many choices… Yay! As long as they maintain everything I experienced today, this will be my go-to Gtown restaurant for sure.

WOW!!! As I waited for my Biryani(the chef makes everything from scratch) I ordered their famous Kashmiri pink Chai. Man that was awesome! I love their tandoori chicken(more flavorful than Indian) I love their lamb chops. I like to order charcoal special for two and have tandoori chicken in place of the chicken tikka. Chapli Kabobs beef, spicy are awesome tasting hamburger patties. Garlic Naan is killer. Aloo paratha was average

Dinner: Wonderful food– loved their portion and quality of rice :-) I also loved the size of naan they serve. I had craving for lamb dishes and I got my fix!!! Although the name of this place hints this could be a dessert place, this place is limited on dessert options for me. I would love to visit for a lunch buffet!

As a native of Karachi, Pakistan, this place is awesome. The food is delicious. I ordered one tandoori platter and one seekh kabob. The platter was awesome. The lamb chops were flavorful and succulent. The chicken Tikka was spicy and mouth watering. The sides were delicious. Admittedly, the seekh kabob was not the best I have had. It was a little hard, chewy and not flavorful. It does need some work! Reason for the five stars in spite of the seekh kabob is because my overall experience of the place and food was fantastic. I would definitely go again. If you’re looking for good food, this is the place. Please do not complain about the service(although I did not experience bad service). I see a trend that people tend to give bad reviews based on the service even though the food is good. If you want good service, visit McDonald’s

How appropriate that I found this place so close to Thanksgiving… because all I feel is gratitude for having such kickass kabobs [sort of] near me! The superlative Kabob and Karahi in northern Silver Spring and the NoVA kabob places can be a long drive for people in Rockville /G’burg /G’town… so this place comes along and fills a void of awesome Pakistani style kabobs. The food is delicious. The staff is nice. The prices are very reasonable. What else could you want? So far I’ve had the chicken tikka, butter chicken, okra, and several masala dishes. All uniformly excellent. The naan is soft and scrumptious. The restaurant itself is far nicer than most kabob joints. Closer in spirit to some of the fancier afghan joints. The chef here is supposedly a big name and from what I’ve experienced so far, he knows his stuff. Our new go-to spot.

Just grabbed dinner from this new spot in Germantown it’s like next to an Asian restaurant. So I got the boneless chicken tikka which comes with like basmati rice and cooked chickpeas. The chick peas are like mushy the rice was good and the chicken was good not amazing just good. My husband odered their kabob roll. He got the chicken kabob roll and it looked dreadful .It just did not look appetizing. These are obviously all things that can be fixed and since they are new I’m hoping for the best the service was good but they lack of organization. Overall I will probably go back because I support Halal businesses but j think they really gotta step their game up
