The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, (Gettysburg Seminary), is a pioneering graduate and professional school of theology affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The school offers four masters degrees, certificate study programs, continuing education and other programs for students and the public. The robust learning environment includes residential, hybrid, online and intensive formats. Gettysburg Seminary campus sits atop Seminary Ridge and was the focus of fighting on the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg, usurping its main building as a military lookout and a fixed field hospital in 1863. The Seminary also sponsors and hosts Music, Gettysburg!, a 15 – 20 concert series free and open to the public. Students may live on campus, in guest housing for commuting students and lifelong learners. Founded in 1826, Gettysburg Seminary is the oldest Lutheran theological seminary in North America.

Michael C.
Business Owner
The Rev. Michael L. Cooper-White, D.D., has served as the 12th president of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg since 2000, continuing a distinguished career of service in the church.
A decade and a half in office, President Cooper-White has presided during a time of dynamic change in theological education, fiscal turnaround (14 balanced budgets), all the while developing and maintaining one of the most robust learning environments for the next generation of leaders for the church and the world.
He teaches and writes about faithful leadership and administration He and co-author Robert Bacher published an often used textbook Church Administration, by Augsburg Fortress in 2007 and Cooper-White authored The Comeback God, also from Augsburg in 2008.
His avocation as a pilot and flight instructor has included serving as a chaplain with the Civil Air Patrol.
