History

Established in 2009.

Bare Necessity Wax & Spa in Gilbert, Arizona is locally owned and operated by Jason and Amy Koob. Relocated from Tucson in 2009, Jason and Amy quickly fell in love with Gilbert and decided to call it home. Pursuing their passion to bring a quality, personable yet affordable experience to each one of their clients. The two take pride in making everyone feel special the minute they walk through the door. Meet Amy, owner and aesthetician of Bare Necessity Wax & Spa. Formally trained at Carsten Aveda Institute, is Image Skin Care certified and specially trained in Cirepil waxing techniques. She specializes in full body and brazilian hair removal, and is a wax trainer in the spa industry, teaching aestheticians tricks for speed and quality hair removal.

This place is incredible! You will not find a better wax experience in the valley, everyone that works here is so friendly, compassionate and seems to genuinely care about making you feel comfortable and confident. Their systems when it comes to scheduling and customer services are top of the line. It is clean, inviting and not to mention adorable! I leave each time wanting to go home & redecorate my house! Highly recommend to anyone looking for an amazing experience!

I got the regular one hour facial as a gift for my birthday. It was so wonderful and relaxing. I felt so pampered afterwards. No breakouts in the following week, just refreshed skin! The place is also super cute and clean. Will be back for sure.

I love Bare Necessity and will NEVER go anywhere else. I found Amy (the owner) on Groupon originally 5 years ago and followed her to her new location. I have seen her and another girl, Aubrey. They are both excellent! The building is adorable; love the decorations. It is very quaint and relaxing there. I will continue to recommend this place to anyone who is in need! GO!

After moving from out of state, I needed to find a few things… A good pet store, a library and of course, a place to get an exceptional wax. Before moving, I had gone to the same place for years. I was so nervous to go somewhere new.
Yesterday was my first experience at Bare Necessity. I had a Brazilian done by Amy. It was fabulous! I’ll definitely be back. It was very clean & inviting. She was very nice & was good at making me feel comfortable. The products were great for my skin. So glad I found this gem!

I’ve been coming here regularly ever since my first visit back in August, which was my first time ever doing a waxing service, and fell in love with the place! Aubrey is amazing! She always makes me feel welcomed and comfortable, and does a fantastic job on my eyebrows, always ensuring that I leave satisfied. I also appreciate that she remembers the conversations we have and follows up on them at every appointment.
The location is in such an adorable area, and the ambience and atmosphere inside is incredibly relaxing and tranquil.

Elaine is the best. I come every 3 weeks to get my brows/​upper lip done and she’s fast and efficient. Prices are reasonable and if you book your appointment in advance you get a little bit of a discount. I have never seen anyone but Elaine here but if the rest of the girls are anything like her, this place needs to be your go to!

Today I saw jenna for a Brazilian wax. She missed a ton of hair. I did not realize until I got home because she stayed in the room while I was dressing and I wanted to dress as fast as possible. Unfortunately it was a waste of 47 dollars. I won’t be returning.

I’ve been coming here to see Aubrey for eyebrow waxes over the last 3 months and haven’t fallen out of love with the place! Not only is the décor adorable and relaxing, the service is out of this world! From the reception to the service, everyone is extremely friendly and nice! Aubrey is FANTASTIC, very personable and does a killer job with my brows. Go! Make an appointment with her quickly!

I really like coming here for three reasons — the ambience, the service, and the cost.
Ambience — Located in downtown Gilbert, this place is completely adorable on the outside and has a spa-​like feel on the inside. Perfect environment for hair removal.
Service — From the service at the front desk to the service completed by the estheticians, I’m happy when I leave. They are always friendly and professional, and they are on top of things. Most importantly, my eyebrows are on point when I leave.
Cost — They provide 10% off when you reschedule at the end of your visit and also offer sales on pre-​paid deals.
I also appreciate how they are locally owned. I’m not knocking chains, I’m just staying local in regards to this facet of services. :)

All of the staff I have encountered thus far (two waxing visits) are very friendly and helpful. Elaine is my aesthetician and she is wonderful. If you book your next appointment ahead of time, they discount the cost for that next visit. I find the pricing very reasonable. Cannot wait to go in for a facial someday soon.
Also — they use that crazy wax that hardens and then peels off (instead of using strips to peel the wax off). I find this type of wax less painful.

I just went in to Bare Necessities yesterday for the first time. I was a bit nervous because it was for a Brazilian wax, my 2nd one ever. I got an appointment morning of with Jenna. The atmosphere is relaxing and nicely decorated. Jenna was awesome and I didn’t feel anxious at all. She made sure to warn me before tougher pulls and kept a light conversation going. Overall it was a great first experience and I will definitely be going back.

I recently went for some services here and Jenna was great. Very nice and honest. Walked through everything and told you her recommendations on product to use post wax and massage. They sent me home with a sheet of after care which is nice because we all have a tendency to forget what was told to us at the time of service. There prices are reasonable and they give you an incentive to pre-​book your next service by giving you a discount which is always nice. I will be going back.

This was my first visit here– and I was a bit nervous! My eyebrows needed some serious help. Like serious help…
Anyway! Elaine was amazing! She was super patient with me and listened to all of my concerns. My eyebrows have the shape they need and she tinted them to help with a few challenging areas. I could not believe how great they looked!
I really could not have asked for a better experience. I booked my next appointment already– she did such a great job.

As someone who was terrified to get waxed after a horrific experience a few years back, I can honestly say now I actually look forward to my appointment every 4 weeks or so. Not only is the atmosphere of this salon ridiculously cute, homey, and relaxing, the staff is always so welcoming and pleasant. I have to give MAJOR props to Elaine, she is so freaking adorable and sweet I can hardly stand it sometimes!
Let’s be honest, having molten wax put on and then ripped off our lady bits is no walk in the park, but the charm that this place and Elaine have (at least on myself) has me coming back and asking for more! I can only speak on the waxing for now but I hope in the near future to be able to experience more of what they have to offer!
