Priscilla & Curls Gone Wild revolutionized my hair. I did have to wait once I got there, but it was worth it. I got so many compliments on my shorter ‘do and was amazed at how, with their coaching, I was able to get so much more curl out of my naturally wavy locks. Love!

Best hair experience I’ve ever had! I had Melanie as my stylist. She was very good at explaining each step of the Deva Curl process. My hair turned out amazing. If you have curly hair you must go. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

I love this salon. My regular colorist/​stylist is Lea and she’s awesome. But, I’ve gotten my hair done by all (Melanie, Priscilla, Summer, and the color techs) and have only had positive experiences with the stylists. It is also a very relaxed and fun environment and I enjoy a good «girl day». Melanie is a hoot. :) The color club is the very best deal you could get on color touch up and is a huge perk. In a pinch when I’ve had to reschedule my appointment or have an emergent situation come up, they have made rescheduling a breeze and are very understanding. And to top it off, it’s a half block from my house. So I have zero complaints. Best place for curly hair and amazing color.

I have now been to Priscilla three times. I am super happy with the care she gives my crazy curls, what she teaches me about caring for my particular challenges and the fact that she lets me change my mind while I am in the chair (i.e., instead of a color, how about a cut?). She is very professional and respects your requests, even if what you want won’t produce the perfect curl. It’s your head of hair and she let’s you do what will work for your lifestyle.
I wish I had started there years ago. :)

This salon is a must for curly girls. I’ve been straightening my hair for the past year due to bad cuts, and decided to give this place a try. Priscilla did the dry cut on my hair, and took her time explaining the Deva curl process to me, and answered all my questions. She also has gorgeous curly hair herself, so I took all her suggestions to heart. My hair looked great when I left the salon, and the second day it still looked awesome! Excellent customer service by hair stylists who seem to truly care about their clients. It’s also an amazing feeling to walk into a hair salon and see heads of curly hair everywhere! I will definitely be back.

What a great hair salon! I saw Lea Cake for a curly cut and a partial foil. She took my «worst ever hair cut» and turned it into my favorite ever curly cut. She was very knowledgable about the Deva process and my hair has never looked better! All the stylists that I observed were great. I don’t think you could go wrong with Curls Gone Wild.

So disappointed today when I walked into the salon after a 35 minute drive to be informed that my appointment had been cancelled. Beware of using the online booking tools to make an appointment which is what I did.
Apparently if the stylist cancels the appointment, he or she might only decide to do that through the tool you used to book the appointment. Even so, I did not receive an email about the cancellation which the receptionist assured me went out. And the stylist apparently feels no obligation to follow up with an actual phone call.
Here’s a note to the salon — people are not necessarily connected to their email accounts like they are their phones. A courtesy call is *always* the best option. Not doing so is pretty unprofessional service in my opinion and shows complete disregard for a potential customer’s schedule. I’ll have to think twice about trying again.

I recently moved to PHX from NYC and had to kiss my beloved stylist at the original Curly Girl heaven aka Devachan salon goodbye. I’m getting married in a few weeks and my hair desperately needed some TLC, so I scheduled an appointment with Melanie after doing some research on the salon and running into a passenger with great hair on one of my flights. Melanie had to reschedule, and I ended up seeing Summer. Summer was very sweet and did a great job on my cut. Totally worth the $ 55.
I give it 4 stars vs. 5 because while the cut was excellent, I felt like the styling itself (always my favorite part of a Deva-​inspired curly cut) was a little rushed. I walked out of the salon feeling good but not like I was having a curly girl’s dream hair day. Not a big enough deal to keep me from recommending CGW to three friends already, though! I’ll definitely be coming back as long as I’m based in PHX.

After a traumatic first hair cut for my 5 year old at another salon i did my research and decided to give this place a shot, since her hair is extremely curly thick I needed someone with experience. I must say I was definitley not dissapointed. Nikki did AMAZING!!! She knew exactly what to do with her and she even gave me a short lesson on what to do at home. She was very confident with my daughters hair and even had a great sense of humor that made my daughter feel comfortable with her. I personally dont have curly hair but it runs in my family and its really hard to find a hair place that really know what they are doing so I am highly recommending this place to anyone with curly hair.

I’ve been going to this salmon for three years. I have curly hair and it’s amazing to finally have a salon that doesn’t shun natural curls. This salon encourages natural hair (ethnic and non ethnic) and teaches individuals how to wear it on its natural state without supplementing society’s perceived «straight hair is prettier» philosophy. In addition to this curly hair haven, the salon has EXCELLENT rates for color. You can’t beat them! It’s not just for curly girls either, so don’t let that drive you away.
I recommend Lea Cake when you go. I’ve been seeing her for three years and she’s never let me down. She’s knowledgeable, friendly, and talented in her craft.

Love, love this place. My friend, Valerie, whom has a daughter that has wild curls told me about this place over a year ago, but it wasn’t until right after Thanksgiving that we went a couple months ago.
My daughter is a beautiful 14 year old daughter with super crazy curls. She is a mixture of Chinese and Black. And from my side of the family, half of us have wavy hair, unlike the normally stick straight hair that Chinese have, my family doesn’t.
So my daughter’s curls are crazy and a mixture of 2 – 3 different types of curls throughout her head. Her curls have gotten crazier as she’s gotten older and very hard to work with. I even got carpel tunnel a few years ago trying to weekly detangle her hair, which was a nightmare for both of us.
Then, the past 2 – 3 years, she’s resorted to wearing her gorgeous hair up and she’s so been wanting to wear it down, but it would become a tangling mess. Finally we forked over the money to come here. I honestly don’t remember the exact cost of what it cost, but I know we did purchase a bottle of conditioner, which was probably $ 20, the tip and doing the hair, it was in the range of $ 110.
That’s a lot to spend on a child. But, I believe getting the hair done was around $ 70. We had Melanie, the owner of the shop do her hair and she was absolutely wonderful at explaining everything. I asked MANY questions and had her show us over and over again.
She showed us how to detangle our daughter’s hair WITHOUT using any combs or anything. It was simply amazing as I didn’t know that one could do that. My daughter’s hair was super tangled and I didn’t think we could do this, but I watched. Melanie and another girl detangled my daughter’s hair at the same time, so that reduced the time.
The products that she recommended were Deva Curl products. I ended up buying the big liter bottles from Amazon, but that is another story. The products work great in my daughter’s hair.
She now wears her hair down every day. However, there is work for her to do in detangling her hair every morning and before bed. I think at first it took her ½ hr each time, but now it’s less than that.
Her hair is beautiful.
Melanie also did not cut her hair wet, rather dry. She recommended that we buy a standing hair dryer bonnet and that often we can find on Craigslist or something like that for $ 50 or less. However, we ended up getting one from Sally’s on sale for about $ 90. This works well for my daughter’s hair.
I love that they take into account that not all curls are the same and when the hair is cut dry, it’s then that you’ll know how the curls will be. So, 2 months later, we are still very happy.
We have not gone back for a refresher course yet, but that’s okay. We will.
It seems the people that come here also have been aggravated before with their curls and coming here, being educated about how to manage their curls is literally life changing. My daughter can now enjoy her hair down.

Let me start by explaining that I have very long, curly hair that I love to hate. I was one of those curly girls who had the forever wet look and loathed getting a haircut because I was never sure what I would end up with when the hair dried. I felt like there was so much more out there for my hair and always envied ladies with bouncy, soft, shiny curls. What were they doing that I wasn’t?
One of my favorite bartenders has gorgeous curly hair, so I asked her where she has her hair done, and she recommended Curls Gone Wild, gleefully assuring me it was the best haircut she ever had. So I nervously scheduled an appointment and had my first curly girl haircut. The young lady I saw the first time walked me through how to wash, condition, and style my hair using the Deva curl products. She patiently waited for all that hair to dry, then gave me an amazing cut. I was skeptical at first, but when she was finished with the cut and my curls flowed softly over my shoulders, I was hooked. I have been using the Deva products every day since then and will never go back to my old stylist, no matter how amazing she is with straight hair.
So this last weekend, my cut had grown out and the layers were no longer defined. I made an appointment with Lea and she was AMAZING! She took the time to answer my questions and give me a refresher on the technique and product usage. She also asked me how often I wash and recommended some options for only wetting my hair every other day. She gently urged me to try it, and I can tell you, she was spot on! I have never walked away from a haircut and days afterward gushed about how much I loved it.

P. S. the young lady who mentioned she refused the dry cut and then hated how her hair turned out made me laugh. The salon let you know right away that they do dry cuts. You still scheduled an appointment and then demanded a wet cut. Your hair turned out asymetrical because she couldn’t see how your curls naturally fall which is totally against the Deva method. I would say that is your fault, not hers.

Drove to Gilbert, from north Phoenix, feeling a little worried about my appointment with Niki. I couldn’t find any reviews on her and I was starting to lose my nerve. Once I arrived, I was greeted by the sweetest assistant, Joy, and although I felt a bit better, I was still nervous and then in walked this gorgeous red-​head with the most pleasant demeanor. She was very knowledgeable in DevaCuts, seeing as she used to work in an extremely esteemed salon, and I was no longer worried about my cut. She did an outstanding job and as long and as she’s in AZ, she has a client for life! Thanks so much! You rock NIKI !!!

I had my first ‘Curly Girl’ haircut/​style about 6 years ago and had kept it up until I moved to Nashville where they didn’t have a DevaCurl stylist. I’m in Phoenix for several months and looked up salons in the area and chose to check out Curls Gone Wild. I explained to Priscilla that the people I was seeing in Nashville didn’t cut my hair the curly hair way. We also discussed that I wanted to cut my hair short and she made sure I was ready by repeatedly asking me and told me she wouldn’t cut it short unless I said Yes not just I think so. After I showed her what I wanted she expanded on it and explained everything she was doing while cutting my hair. I also got highlights and she suggested lowlights as well. She cut off approximately 5 – 6 inches of hair. She also reviewed the curly girl way and was more thorough than my original stylist several years ago. I love how she did my hair so much! I can’t stop playing with it! She was so awesome with the instructions I was/​am able to produce the same result! She salvaged my hair and made me feel very confident in my new cut.

Where do I start. I was very excited to finally find a salon that specializes in curly hair. To be dissapointed with my final result. I had the curly cut and had no idea what that all entailed. My hair was very long and I needed a change. The stylist asked if I straightened my hair and I had told her sometimes… I left the salon not really sure about the short hair cut and after washing it and styling it I realized how extremely choppy it was. I was mortified. Worst hair cut I’ve ever had. I called and talked to one of the stylists Priscilla and she was very professional and offered for me to come in and she would fix it and give me a full refund. She couldn’t get me in with the owner but she was the next best thing. She had to cut my hair even more because it was so choppy. But she did what she could with what the other girl terribly messed up. I am still not happy with my hair but it is somewhat better than what it was…

Just came home from my first visit to CGW. Lea was my stylist, and the cut she gave made me feel a lot more confident in my curls. She is personable, and attentive. She’s also very knowledgeable about my type of curls and gave me some insight as to what I can do to keep the style she gave me in between visits. I’ll definitely be going back!

I’ve been coming here for the last few years and I love them. Priscilla and Melanie always do a great job. I have fine 3b/​3c hair and I’ve had some horribly botched jobs at places that «claim» they know how to work with curly hair only to find they just say that on the phone to get you in. They tell me my hair is dry, I should cut off like 5 inches, and then they all offer to straighten it for me. Why is it so hard to find hair salons that are pro-​curly hair? There are tons of us curly haired people out there, you’d think it wouldn’t be so uncommon!
Anyway, Priscilla is awesome. They will not just cut your hair, but teach you how to style and take care of your hair. They don’t push products on you but they explain why they use what they use. They will teach you how to style your curls so they are defined and have lots of volume without frizz. They do a dry cut, so they style your hair first and then cut your hair as it sits, giving you layers and cutting the curls in the direction they’re growing so they fall evenly. So how your hair looks when you walk out is how your hair will look everyday. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to other salons where I say I want a «trim» but they cut the hair wet straight across, and then when it dries it’s way more cut off than I wanted, totally uneven because some of my curls have more bounce than others, and I have a triangle shaped haircut.
They know what they’re doing, they are constantly getting new training and learning new things, and they are all just so friendly and helpful. Their prices are also very good, even for their color. I recommend them to anyone with curly hair! I drive out here from Peoria a couple times a year, even though it’s super far. It’s worth it!

Anyone with curly hair should definitely go to Curls Gone Wild! I am growing out a pixie and Summer did an amazing job! She is super knowledgeable and I loved my curls! I will definitely continue going here for haircuts.

Priscilla taught me about how to care for curls, what products to use and most importantly NOT use, and how to style my hair. This place is a curly headed girls dream. After years of straightening and frying my hair I’m finally back on the road to pretty healthy curls. I’ll definitely be coming back.
