I designed my wedding cake with designer cakes by april. and would have been amazing! instead they switched owners and moved locations with out even telling me 2 months before my wedding. Is now called Designer cakes by Kesha located next to the deli on San tan blvd and power.
I finally tracked this lady down after getting her cell phone and home number from the BBB and decided to not get my money back and to just let her make my wedding cake for me.
I got married on 4÷19÷14 and the first thing i saw as i was walking down the aisle was that my cake was wrong. it was sooooo ugly and not how i wanted it at all. After talking with my wedding planner the dropped the main design off my wedding cake. all they said was sorry. never personally called me and appologized. I was in tears seeing how ugly that cake was. and we all know that wedding cakes are not cheap.

I love cupcakes and have tried many bakeries around the valley. Designer Cakes have my favorite cupcakes. I’ve tried most of their cupcakes and they are all delicious. The frostings are perfection and the cake is moist and soft. My favorite is the salted caramel. Lemon and peanut butter/​chocolate are great too.

I would not recommend Designer Cakes for anyone who wants a completed wedding cake at their wedding. This place is absolutely terrible to work with! We met with them a couple times before the wedding to make sure things would go smoothly. They were supposed to show up before our ceremony started. Well, they had forgotten about our cake the day of and tried to pull something together. What we ended up with what a lopsided, undecorated cake. I was so excited to see our dream cake only to be extremely disappointed! After the owner apologized to my parents, he told them to have my husband and I call when we got back from our honeymoon to try to make things right. It took us over a month of calling and stopping by the shop before we finally got a meeting with him. When we finally met, we had to ask for an apology! Don’t you think that would have been the first words out of his mouth!!! I guess not… During the meeting, it was decided that he would make us a «fake» cake so that we could at least get a picture of what our dream cake was supposed to look like. When the time came for us to pick it up, to our surprise it was not completed! Still to this day (a little over 4 months after our wedding) they have yet to make things right and I never got a look at what my wedding cake was supposed to look like. Don’t waste your time with this company! I wish we had gone with a different vendor!

Worst cupcakes ever! ! I have never written a review on here, but I can’t keep quiet about how awful these are. First off, they had boxes of store bought cake mix sitting out. You can’t use a box of Duncan Hines and call yourself a bakery! ! Secondly, there is no doubt in my mind that they are NOT made fresh daily. The cake was absolutely dry and flavorless. They are also very small. The frosting is terrible, dry and crusty. At almost 5 $ a piece you would expect a moist, decedent, fresh, made from scratch cupcake. I am incensed at just how incredibly bad this place is. I will never go back! I am sure they will not be around much longer as you cannot run a successful business with such a crap product!

The cupcakes are absolutely amazing! This is my second time getting cupcakes here and both times I have been extremely happy! The vanilla on funfetti is amazing — but the cookie-​doe is a total mind blow! It comes with a cookie on top! I haven’t tried the cake pops, but I got one tonight. It’s so pretty, I’m not sure I want to eat it :) The customer service was great, the girl that helped me was super sweet and extremely helpful! I recommend you all go there. Now!

The cupcakes here are amazing! Ya, they may cost more than the grocery store but try are totally worth it. They have many delectable options that will satisfy any palette. The more you get the cheaper they are.

I went in and requested a Star Wars themed cake for my son’s birthday. Asked her to put the Star Wars logo on it, an image of darth vader on top and to say happy 6^th birthday. My son decided on a chocolate cake with cookie dough frosting filling. It came out better than I could have imagined! I was so pleased with the design and the flavor, I will definitely be ordering from April again in the future.

I really like the cupcakes and have been a few times, but last time we were in 3 out of 4 of the ladies that were working were very unprofessional. They were dancing behind the girl helping us and laughing, the poor girl was so irritated and trying to help us and they were extremely immature. I will probably go back but I think the need better customer service. Lets class it up ladies and don’t make your co worker feel uncomfortable.

The cup cakes are okay nothing special. I ask for vanila cup cakes because I couldn’t find any in the cup cake counter, the lady in the shop sold me rainbow cup cakes. I had no idea the cupcakes were rainbow flavor and color until I got home. I feel they know they didn’t have vanilla cake and instead of saying they were out, they gave me cup cakes that I didn’t request. The frosting was so large so I couldn’t see through the cup cakes. The cup cakes are very small compared to regular cup cakes and the customer service was very poor, I felt the lady at the counter was upset as soon as I came in, also, she was reluctant to answer my questions on pricing for birthday cakes and icing questions. I have had a lot of cup cakes all over the US that are very delicious (very few in AZ) the cup cakes here are simply ok, I give it a 4 out of a 10.

April made an amazing pirate cake for my sons birthday and the cupcakes were adorable. They tasted good too which is rarely the case.

Pros: Cookies and cream tastes like Oreo. PB chocolate tastes like a Reece’s peanut butter cup. Yummy. Some days the cakes are really fluffy and moist. Other days, they’re dry; but the flavor is still good.
Cons: Very, very far from where I live. Pricey.

I have been going to April’s for cupcakes since the first month it opened. It was amazing intil recently. The cupcakes continue to get smaller and smaller, but the price stays the same. With so many other options so close I will not be coming here offten in the future.

Delicious cupcakes and cake pops. We went there for the first time today and got a dozen cupcakes and a few cake pops for the family and everyone loved them! The turtle cupcake was AWESOME! The oreo cupcake was very good, too. My daughter loved the red velvet, too. We actually liked all the flavors we got… we will definitely be going back soon. I think April (the owner) was the one who helped us. She was very nice and helped us pick out flavors she thought the kids would like. The cake pops were delicious, too. We tried the smores and oreo ones… super moist and good.
We just tried the salted caramel cupcake and the double chocolate cupcake… these and the turtle ones are my definite favorites!

I came her a couple of times for desert after dinner and they have some interesting and tastey cake pops and cupcakes.

April has made my daughters cakes/​cupcakes since they were born for the last 3 years. Her and her team are personable, creative and best of all everything is amazing! We always have Aprils Cupcakes at our parties and everyone always asked where we get them. April even made our daughter (who was still in the hospital) an amazing first birthday cake, well I guess it would be 0 not 1 year old haha. I love to support other local companies here in Gilbert and April is top notch! Thank you April for the amazing memories and cakes!

I visited the bakery and had the salted carmel cupcake. The cake was moist (mostly due to the camel filling). The cake was topped with a very rich and sweet frosting. The cupcake had a bit too much frosting and not enough cake. I have had salted carmel cupcakes from another bakery near this one and it much better. In all, cupcake was just okay.

Great cupcakes. My wife likes to try every cupcake shop in town and yesterday was the first time trying these.
Half a dozen cupcakes were $ 15 (not bad compared to other shops). They are standard in size but loaded with flavor. The salted caramel was the best I’ve ever had and I’ve tried a few. Each of the six we tried were excellent and we’ll definitely be back for more.

Good cakes, very tasty. I was tasting cakes to find a bakery to go with for a special occasion cake. I had narrowed things down to this place and Caketini. They are a little rigid and uncompromising when it comes to their cakes. I requested a special occasion cake without fondant, and they refused. Frankly, I will be returning to Caketini for my special occasion cakes – they are willing to work with clients and offer flexibility.

I am not sure why this place has not made it to cupcake wars. The cupcakes here are DELICIOUS!
I have been to a couple places featured on cupcake wars in different states and none of them compare to these. Great selection, Great staff, has me coming back for more

I wish I had the ability to give 10 stars. April did the cake for my wedding last year and killed it, in a good way. We had 2 different flavors, banana and lemon, and they were both delicious. We chose a simple design, 3 tiers with fondant ribbons on each layer. She hand piped each dot and swirl perfectly.
I just ordered the top of our cake for our anniversary and know it’s going to be just as beautiful as the first one.
Now I’m looking for the next reason to order another cake.
