Just a message to let you know that Don came out right on time to look at my heater problem, was very nice, flipped a heater lever and that was the only problem (dummy me :). He
educated me on how to move the levers when I want the heater on and off. He
didn’t charge me anything for the 2 minutes he was there which most companies will. So I want to thank your company and Don as you are now my new pool repair company!

Recently had some issues with my plumbing. I had a technician come out named Brett. He was AWESOME! Extremely professional and knowledgeable in his line of work. I appreciated his honesty as well. He gave me several options and explained what the difference was besides the price in my options. In the end he spent several hours redoing all my equipment and plumbing. It looks phenomenal, and I am super satisfied with the job. Id highly recommend the company and the tech who came out. Job well done!

I have been very pleased with the results I have gotten with regular service from Gilbert Poolman. Also did a great job in fixing a broken valve for a very reasonable price. Great local business to support!

So, in the world of pool service — these guys are in the Hall of Fame! While trying to get someone to come look at our pool, I made appointments with companies for which no one showed up. I called a major pool supply company in town and they failed to show up or even call us back, and left many messages with different pool services with no returned calls. Then I called Gilbert Poolman and received a call back from the owner of the company, Jake, right away. Jake informed me one of his technicians would call me in 30 – 45 minutes, which happened. His tech, Rob, set an appointment for 9am the next day, and he arrived right on time. He explained what needed to be done, quoted me a price before we started — then he spent a couple hours cleaning the cartridge filter, cleaning the pool, testing the water then accurately supplying it with chemicals — all while patiently explaining everything he was doing so in turn, I could in the future properly take care of the pool myself. There were no «hard sells», there was no «we need to be taking care of your pool», there was simply old-​fashioned outstanding service by honest people charging fair prices. I would, by far and wide, recommend Jake, Rob and Gilbert Poolman as your clear choice for pool service. These guys are the real deal!

We recently used Gilbert Poolman to install a pool heater at our Chandler home. The scope of work included all of the electrical work as well as setting and installing the heat pump. Rob from Gilbert Poolman came out the same day we contacted the company to survey the site and give us a quote for the work. The price quoted was fair and in-​line with other contractors. What set Gilbert Poolman apart was their excellent responsiveness their flexibility and the ability to do the work within our schedule. The electrical portion was finished in one day and the installation of the heater in another day. They took extra steps to leave the site looking clean and neat, and even painted our existing pool equipment. We were very pleased and would definitely use this company again.

I have been using Gilbert Poolman for over a year now. I’m set up on a weekly service and either Rob or the owner Jay are the ones that come out. Pool is perfectly clean and they’ve never missed my scheduled Tuesday. My old pump has had some leaking issues and they come out same day or the next morning when I’ve called about it. I highly recommend using these guys.

$ 300 PER HOUR!!! I agree with most reviewers. I used them twice. The first time i needed the pool drained and refilled. I was quoted a price with chemicals included. Rob started the drain and was supposed to be back to check on the drain later that day but didn’t show. Once the job was done the next day and he put in the «included» chemicals, the invoice he presented had the drain job and the chemicals separately. I would have saved the $ 50 bucks and used the chemicals I already had!
The second time was an accident, I wasn’t sure if this was the same company but Rob showed up to replace a part on my pool plumbing. I was having company come in in a couple of days and needed it done. He quoted $ 250, showed up over an hour late, it took him 30 mins (generous I think it was less). Later I looked up the part and it costs $ 70 on Amazon! So let’s bump it up to $ 100 for some PVC (being generous). So I was charged $ 150 for 30 mins of labor! THAT’S $ 300 PER HOUR IN MY ESTIMATION!!! No wonder they are so flexible to work around your schedule. Attorneys who charge about the same per hour won’t even work around your schedule.
In addition, both times Rob left the old parts and materials in my yard — I do have a trash can.
Never again.

Rob came out to do a sand change on the filter and went above and beyond what we could have asked. He fixed the pop up on our pool and turned it from nasty looking to crystal clear overnight. Could not be happier with their service!!!

I have been using Gilbert Poolman for a year now and have nothing but good things to say. I was turned on to them by a friend of mine who simply raves about their service and friendly nature. I called and received a very good quote (much less than those I received when calling around to other pool maintenance businesses) and received my first cleaning free. When I called, they were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and concerns. They always arrive promptly and get the job done in a quick and efficient manner.
What I really like is how nice they are to my two dogs. My dogs are very protective of the house and usually do not like strangers and I thought it was awesome that the guy cleaning the pool actually carried dog treats with him to make friends with any dogs he may encounter during his stops — AND he was kind enough to ask if he may feed them to my dogs before he did so.
When I went out of town for two weeks I didn’t have to worry about anything because they let themselves in through the back gate and handled business with no problems.
When a few parts on the heater needed replacing I received extremely fair quotes for the parts and service — they even worked out a payment plan for me!
I highly recommend Gilbert Poolman for all your pool maintenance needs. I love the work they do and you will too!

Came home to find pool servicer IN MY HOUSE!!!
I came home today and noticed the pool guys truck (or what I assumed to be, as their trucks aren’t marked) on the street. Opened garage door and noticed the door to the side of the house was opened, AND the door to the inside of the house was not closed tightly! Cautiously went inside and looked around and saw no one, looked outside at the pool and saw no one as well. Then I noticed that a closet door in the master bedroom that is NEVER closed, was closed. I knew something was wrong and rushed my two small children back out to the car in the garage and told them to stay put. I then went back inside the house and saw the pool guy going out the door in the master bedroom that leads to the backyard and noticed that the same closet door was now opened. The guy gave me a false name and completely denied being in the house even after I WATCHED him walk out the door. I demanded his drivers license (different name than what he told me) and called the police. Of course he denied being in the house to the police as well. After all was said and done, the owner informs me afterwards that this was not the first time this happened with this employee, that he walked in another house when someone was actually home! WHAT!!! I have to say, this guy is VERY lucky that I was not home when he came walking into MY house, or he would have been visited (I’m assuming) with his first bullet to the balls. or chest. my aim is not always dead on. All this happened after the owner came just one week prior to replace our key Masterlock on the side gate with a combination lock, because a different employee quit and never returned the keys to the gate locks she had.
7÷18÷13: In response to Darren M.‘s post today about «harassing» accusations, if you are including my review, I can say I only wish that none of this ever happened! I spent 2 hours convincing my two very young kids that were scared to go to bed last night that something like this will never happen again. As if I would EVER put my kids through such a traumatic experience because «I had too much time on my hands». Please do not accuse me of «talking garbage» implying I would make ANY of this up. I have a police report number and a Gilbert police officer’s name that you can contact to verify any of the information I gave above! As far as the sawing off of the gate lock the week before due to another employee taking the ring of keys with her when she quit, I’m sure Jake would verify that information himself if he’s truly the stand-​up guy you say he is.
Jake (the owner, and I’m sure your good friend) may be a very nice guy (he did call to see if there was anything he could do after this happened yesterday). My problem is with his employees and my own experience, and I feel consumers have the right to know.
6÷15÷14 — UPDATE: Jake, I am absolutely in shock at your accusation that I am making this up. I know you remember this unfortunate (for everyone) incident well, as you talked with me many times over the phone while the police were still at my house. I would be more than happy to provide you (and anyone else who would like it, for that matter) a copy of the Gilbert police report and copy of your employee’s driver’s license from that day. I am appalled at your lack of un-​professionalism by one year later accusing me of being a liar and making the whole thing up. An unfortunate incident it was for everyone. And I am not saying it is a reflection of your overall business. But it did happen and I felt potential customers had a right to know about it. If you were a true man of integrity, you would not call people lairs (especially, with a policy report to prove this incident DID occur). At least own up to it, apologize and stand up for your business!

Encounter #1: Talked to the owner. He quoted me a price. We set up a time for the guy to come by. 5 stars.
Encounter #2: Guy comes by and quotes me a price $ 25/​month higher than what I was told over the phone. Not sure why. He’s not the guy I talked to on the phone, so I just agree to it and call the owner. 1 star.
Encounter #3: Call the owner to discuss price discrepancy. Somehow everything I «heard» (read: was told) on the first call is now different. We agree to a «middle» charge but I already paid extra for the first month. 2 stars.
Encounter #4: No one shows up for first day of service (the following Friday.) The initial service — a «free» one — was on a Saturday so he «missed» it. He tells me he will come out on Saturday to deal with it. (This is the owner again.) Owner shows up very late on Saturday, shakes my hand, does the pool, and leaves without saying goodbye — even though we were both in the open garage. Eh, 3 stars.
Encounter #5: Pool serviced as usual — all fine. I did find a dead lizard in the pool but I suppose that could have happened after they left. 4 – 5 stars.
Encounter #6: I text the owner. «Can you change my pool cleaner timer on your next visit?» «Sure, no problem.»
Encounter #7: Pool is serviced. All appears fine. 4 – 5 stars.
Encounter #8 (day after encounter #7): I text, «Were you able to change my pool timer?» «No, I wasn’t. I have a new tech going to your house and I forgot to tell her. I’ll be out tomorrow to fix it.» — 100 stars.
Now, what I haven’t mentioned to this point is I have FOUR dogs. And they use a dog door. One of these dogs is a maniacal runner and I have asked him on at least 15 occasions to make sure not to let her out. Ever. He assures me he keeps dog bones in the car and he will service the pool HIMSELF and that the dog will NEVER get out.
Why am I upset by Encounter #8 aside from the fact the timer didn’t get changed? I now have a NEW pool tech and he FORGOT to tell her something. Something like… don’t let the Chihuahua out, perhaps?!
Encounter #9: I get a text from him stating that he has been by, can’t change the timer, and that his OTHER tech will have to do it at some point. He also mentions my dog «tried» to bite him. … I have a pit mix. Buddy, if she tried to bit you — she would have bitten you. And she has never tried to bite a HUMAN in her life, so I find it hard to believe she went after you. You must have the soul of the devil for her to have picked up on it and tried to bite you. Seriously.
Anyway, the end of this story is that I got one «free» service, overpaid for less than one month of service, and fired them. WIthin 4 weeks that is a whole lot of negotiating, talking out the side of your mouth, and tech changes. Too much forgetting and complete lack of interest in my staying on service.
Wouldn’t recommend them unless you enjoy being a «number» and forgotten routinely.

We would not recommend this company at all.
Rob came out to give us an estimate, told us about repairs needed, which we felt was very overpriced. $ 170 to replace three pool lights in a drained pool when we are supplying the bulbs?
We asked for an itemized quote to be emailed to us, Rob said he would send it that night, and he never did.
Then we called him again the next day, spoke to Rob, scheduled for them to drain our pool and confirmed with them the same day, and they never showed up, called or emailed.
Unprofessional and as business owners ourselves, we would never conduct ourselves this way and expect to be successful or referred.
Then we called Rob again the next morning, and he didn’t answer or have the professional courtesy to explain why they stood us up on the pool drain.
You try to give business to the local little guy, and then this happens.
Disappointing to say the least. I would not recommend Gilbert Poolman at all.

I hate taking care of my pool! Jake looks like he loves it!!! Pool is always sparkling and when something just starts to go wrong with the pool, he already knows what the issue is. 5 Stars!!!

Best pool guy ever! We’ve been through a couple of different pool services and this guy goes above and beyond pool cleaning. He has kept an eye on my house and tells me when things look out place. Most of all the pool is sparkling clean for a reasonable price. He makes sure everything is working and when they need repair, he gets me good deals on replacement parts. I trust him and highly recommend him.
I can be kinda high maintenence too so that says a lot!
