Bay Area RV Parts and Service

I have had a great experience with Bay Area RV — especially with Albert the shop manager. I own a 2013 Palazzo (from Thor) and have had several issues, including replacing the inverter after the original warranty had expired. The worked with my supplemental warranty carrier to solve the problem and get it replaced. The have traveled to my home to repair electrical issues.
This past weekend we were getting ready to go on a trip & my slider did not work. We risked cancelling our trip. I reached out to Albert after hours on a Friday evening, & he called me back and help me problem solve the issue issue over the phone (which was a disconnected wire). Our trip was back on.
With the complex systems in RVs, it is comforting to have someone like Albert & Bay Area RV to help minimize frustration as issues arise. I will continue to use them even though I live in Saratoga & their shop is in Gilroy.

To start off, this started with the delivery of my BRAND NEW Starcraft Comet Popup Trailer, in December. We purchased from RV Sales 101, which was a good experience. Since Bay Area RV was doing the PDI for them, I had them install the brake controller that I brought them. It took 2 weeks to schedule the appointment to get the Jeep in to get it installed and take delivery of our new trailer. It took them all day to install the controller, which is the only thing they had to do, I had already had the 7 wire installed myself. I dropped it off at 8 am and was told to come back at 3 PM to do the walk through on trailer and pick it up. We returned at 3, but neither was completed, mind you they already had the trailer for 2 weeks already to complete the PDI stuff. After waiting in the shop for an hour and a half, they were ready to show us the trailer, they were still working on the Jeep. Brian, believe that is his name, walked us through, noting that there were some issues with the trailer that they had already reported or would be reporting to Starcraft. Brian was not familiar with Popups at all. the way he said to setup the pull outs for the beds was FAR from the way the manual said to do it and if he or the team there took the time to read the manual, they would have realized that they were showing all the customers from RV Sales 101 the wrong way. After taking delivery in Mid-​January, we took it back after a week for them to start the repairs, they had the unit until the 2^nd week in February when we had our first trip planned.
Issues we had with the trailer, that were reported: (THIS WAS FROM THE MFG, NOT Bay Area RV’s fault)
1. power lift would continue even though you took your finger off the switch and would go back up if you took your finger off when going down. (PAIN IN THE ASS)
2. Sink was chipped.
3. Speaker not working outside
4. Hinge for water heater panel broken.
5. Cap missing from grey water drain.
6. Vent hose was never connected by the shower area.
Issue resolution and events before 1^st trip:

Dropped it back off the week after our trip 2÷20÷2015 and picked it up before our next trip, 3÷31÷2015.

2. new sink installed, but on subsequent trip, it got chipped again. this was due to the fact that the door was not mounted correctly and just hanging, again, this was also due to the walk through, we were not told there was a lip for the door to mount to. Now we know and we also have a chipped sink… thanks

all along the way, there was NO communication from Alison, the owner, unless I had initiated it. I finally got in contact with the Regional Sales manager on something else, and he put me in contact with the Warranty manager. I moved my repairs to Camping World in San Martin. they are an authorized reseller and warranty shop for Starcraft.
Today, I took my trailer to CW and they installed the new control module, we were still having the issue. but Cris took the time to review with me what had been happening and what had been done already. He took the cover off were the switch is at for the motor and there was a cable that was never connected. My guess is that BARV just popped the switch out and replaced the 2 wires that were connected and never took the cover off to check all the wires.
Oh-​yeah, and the $ 300+ we were charged for the brake controller installation was highway robbery in my opinion. Staff was always friendly when talking to them, but that was about it. I will never take my trailer or any vehicle there again…

I just bought a new 2015 Open Range Light LF319RLS 5^th Wheel Trailer from Roger Luis at RV Sales 101. He gave us a thorough explanation of everything and we were sold on the quality and warranties. Ken Coykendall, VP, took over and finished all the details and paperwork. They suggested Bay Area RV install the B&W gooseneck mount/​ball in my new Toyota Tundra Crew Max 4×4 truck as well as prep. our new trailer for delivery to us. Everything went fairly smooth and we picked-​up the trailer on the day Bay Area RV installed the mount/​ball in my truck. They had the truck at 8:30am, and I left 5 minutes after 5pm. Brian gave us a VERY thorough introduction to our new trailer and did not leave one stone unturned, as we saw everything. They connected the trailer rear view camera in my truck. We bought many RV supplies for our new trailer here and Alison was very helpful. This company sells quality products and are professional.

They wasted no time defining the problems, checking for possible options and getting the part needed to get us back on the road the next day. We have to agreed with all the folks who gave very low ratings. We experience the same horrible service too.
Our motorhome roof repair was improperly done three times over approximate two year period. Vehicle was in their shop approximately a total of nine months. (Third time was five and half months).
Each time we too it back, there was water damage and portions of the original sub-​roofing that was replaced had to e replaced again along with the entire rubber roofing exterior. Second time in they used an inferior/​weaker sub-​roof material and the right front had a major low spot. They took it back and said they would re-​enforce it and they also replaced the entire rubber roof. It still has a soft spot in the front of the roof and it also leaked again. They said it was the front overhead glass window and said they had that sealed, however, shortly after found the window cracked. Each time they did anything they did very sloppy work, leaving the interior filthy and damage to the overhead mattress and cover (burnt holes), table was chipped, roof vent covers mountings was all loose, one was completely off, laying on the screen, the bathroom exhaust fan was hitting the screen, along with numerous other items not replaced correctly. They also remounted the awning wrong so it is hard to lower. They said they tested for leaks each time but obviously they did not or did not now how. If it ever rains, we pray there is no leak. We will never take the motorhome back to Bay Area RV if another leak develops because they obviously can not do proper work/​repairs. Allison (the owner) is very likeable and sweet, but beware, they are not reliable. They promised to be finished with the job on specific dates and never did contact us to tell us that it wasn’t ready. We had to call and/​or go the shop to get an answer.
We had to take the motorhome to another shop to repair the cracked window and readjust the awning. We asked them to check the work that was done at Bay Area RV and they confirmed their sloppy work and the soft spot on the roof.
We know of two other people who had bad experience with Bay Area RV in the last two years.
Our insurance agent is shaking his head over the outrageous charges by Bay Area RV for repairs.
We ARE contacting the Bureau of Automotive Repair.

We live 5 miles from Bay Area RV, and I wish I could give a positive review, but I have to warn others instead. Alison, the owner, is very likable and makes you think she really cares about customer service and wants to help, but the repair people don’t know what the’re doing and damage rigs in the process. We took our trailer to them for factory warranty of a bubble in the vinyl. They are not a Keystone dealer, but they wanted to help so they worked through the dealer we bought it from (350 miles away). After about 4 months, we finally got the trailer back. Then we found there were staples sticking up all they way around the floor and the bubbles returned. The RV is designed with a floating floor. Albert (Service Mgr) insisted it needed to be glued and convinced the factory to allow him to do it… now we have permanently glued bubbles. They installed a gas line. Claimed they had done a pressure test, and on the first trip we smelled propane from a leaking fitting on the new line. They let it sit so long without charging the batteries that we had to replace them. Our water heater was stolen from the trailer while it was in their yard — they fixed it, but seriously? Then last time we picked it up, there was some body damage. They wanted us to file an insurance claim with our carrier — then after over a month, they supposedly found a picture they say «proves» it was damaged when we brought it in (I know it wasn’t damaged when I left the house, but I suppose I could’ve been side-​swiped by an UFO on the 5-​mile drive down there). And then, despite repeatedly saying they were going to call me to discuss… silence.
I finally took the trailer to Leal’s in San Jose and paid to have it fixed. Leal’s did a great job at a fraction of the cost Bay Area said it was going to be to fix it (we just paid for the repair because it was cheaper and easier than taking Bay Area to small claims court).

Bay Area RV is as good as it gets when it comes to RV repair and customer service. They have handled warranty work for my motorhome twice now. I had my coach at a different shop in Livermore at the insistence of the manufacturer.
They could not complete the work in a timely manner.
Alison at Bay Area RV is fantastic. She is friendly, helpful, and communicates clearly and often.
The work that the technicians do is done professionally and quickly. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
Bay Area RV works with most manufacturers, as I understand it, to handle warranty work.
I will take my coach there whenever it needs service of any kind.

I agree with Jim O this is the worst place you can take your RV for repair! No details on invoice, we were total over charged for a propane leak that was told it would take very little time to repair. We will have to bring to another RV service center to fix the SAME problem. Nothing like throwing $ 400.00 down the drain! I was very tempted to call the Business of Automotive Repair.

We brought our motor home to Bay Area RV for a quote on re-​aligning one leveling jack. They told us that the jack would have to be replaced. I don’t remember the price, but $ 800 sticks in my mind. They said that the roof needed re-​caulking, and quoted $ 1000 for that job.
That seemed high, so we went to another nearby RV service facility for a «second opinion» quote, and subsequently had the service done there. They removed the jack, straightened its mounting bracket and re-​installed it; cost was about $ 150. They agreed that roof re-​caulking was in order, and did it for $ 300.
Trying to sell us a leveling jack when none was needed? Charging three times as much for re-​caulking a roof? I don’t think so.
End of story, end of our dealings with Bay Area RV.

Wonderful company to do business with. I have used them for glass replacement and some other interior remodel. I give them 10 stars. The pricing was beyond fair. And The customer service above and beyond. Thank you Allison

Awesome!!! Bring your RV here for repair! I can’t say enough about the customer service here. Alison was a big help with my situation. I bought a brand new Big Horn in Indiana and on my way out to California the rubber roof membrane started to separate. I called Heartland warranty and they pointed me in the direction of See Grins. SIX WEEKS later my trailer still hadn’t been touched by See Grins and that was after the three weeks that lead up to my appointment! I called Alison at Bay Area RV, explained my situation and without hesitation she wanted to help. A few days later she had my rig in the shop and they were making the repairs. It only took one week. My work schedule only allowed me to pick up the unit on a Sunday and unfortunately they are normally closed. Again they blew me away by coming in on a day off so I could pick up my unit! Great overall experience! Definitely recommend

I only have great things to say! After a horrible experience at See Grins this place really came to the rescue. They took our coach in on short notice and fixed it right away. They are very knowledgeable and showed us how to use things in our coach (we’re newbies). Everyone that works there is really nice and they act like they want your business. We will definitely do business with them in the future.

We had a propane smell in our motorhome, it was a weekend and we called them, they tried to get out on Saturday but all there techs were busy. They said to shut off the propane and the owner would come out on Sunday. On Sunday a tech showed up and fixed our problem. They also troubleshooted another problem .They were always calling to let us know someone would be there. They would also order the part we need to fix the other problem when we are at one place long enough to get it. Just a great place to deal with.

This is a long story that I will try and shorten to sing the praises of Bay Area RV. We were traveling from the Ventura area to Gilroy in our motor home. Right outside of Gonzales, we heard a horrible noise. We pulled off the freeway and realized that our awning had come loose. It was very windy and this happened on a Sunday afternoon. We called the RV park that we were planning to spend the night at and they referred us to Bay Area RV. We called and they said that they would send someone out to help us. Allison called and got all our insurance information and was very sweet and reassuring. This was the first day of our two week vacation and not starting off well. Anyways, Genard came out and tied the awning so that we could make it to Gilroy. He told us to go very slow on the freeway and he would follow us. It did not take long to realize that that was not going to work. We pulled over to the side and Genard took off the awning. He still followed us to the RV park which was quite a distance. By this time, it was 9 at night and we were beat.
The next morning we drove over to Bay Area so they could assess the damage. It was then that we found out Genard is the owner of the company. We were floored that he came out on a Sunday and was so helpful. David and the rest of the crew got right on it and fixed everything so that we could continue on our trip to Oregon. Well, the insurance people (Progressive…which did a great job too) said that they would need to see the motor home to figure out what they would cover. It was then that we decided to leave the motor home and take the car for the rest of our trip.
David stayed in touch with us on how things were going and the communication with Bay Area was just exceptional. We arrived back about a week and a half later and it was completely repaired. The awning is so easy to use and David made sure of that when he ordered the new one.
Everyone at Bay Area was wonderful. It felt like we were dealing with people we had known forever. Thank you to Genard, Allison, David and the whole crew at Bay Area RV. You are running a wonderful business with old time customer service that we just don’t see anymore.

We recently relocated to the bay area and needed maintenance and repairs on our rv. It was our first experience with Bay Area RV and the quality, communication and overall service was stellar! The personnel was very courteous, knowledgeable and eager to help. We could not be more pleased with both the quality of the work and overall experience!!!
