Extremely rude, not clear on their own policies. My mom signed up for a contract that said she could bring a guest for 8 months for free, and first, one person said the rules have changed, then a second person told me the person who made her contract was wrong.

Don’t pay to bring a guest here unless you’re ready to be harassed.
The staff here is incredibly rude. So much so, that my guest and I were turned away this morning. I pay to be a member as well as to bring a guest. I was excited to workout with my friend who was planning on joining. She no longer plans on joining and I question if I will continue my membership.
They are not clear with their policies and the employees are very inconsistent with what they decide to enforce. This morning we were turned away because my guest did not bring her ID. She would not have been willing to relinquish it either even if she had brought it. Why should she they have access to very personal information. She had already filled out a form which had her full name, email, and address. The employee claimed that the ID was necessary as a form of «liability».
These employees have been incredibly rude to us on prior occasions but today was just harassment. I was turned away from my own gym. The young brunette working the front– Aimee– was more than happy to send us away. She was not apologetic or helpful in explaining the «new» policy. We felt as though she was creating excuses to discourage my guest from attending.

Place is a scam they can’t afford to fix equipment the staff is weak looking and have no idea should be used car sales people lol I can imagine the disease growing in this place they will charge you a month extra if you cancel

Wow! Just wow! This place needs to completely shut down. This is the worst gym I’ve been to ever in my whole life. All the machines are broken, not only are they broken, but they never get fixed. When you mention it to the staff they just simply say, «Oh yeah we know». They have no solution to the problem, nor do they let you know when the machine will be fixed. Don’t get me started on the bathrooms YUCK! Lord, I try and hold myself until I get home, it’s so nasty there. No one cleans the restrooms! There’s never any toilet paper, seat covers & they’ve even taken out the hand towels so you have nothing to try your hands with. All the toilet seats are stained & it smells like urine in there. There’s trash & hair all over the ground, the lockers are filthy. If you don’t catch a disease you’ll be lucky. There’s mold & hard water stains all over the showers. I won’t step foot in there. The sauna has food wrappers & water bottles all over the ground, the benches are ready to give up any day. The staff are a bunch of young kids that are constantly cursing and do not help with anything. This place is so dirty & unprofessional. They need the health dept. in there & they need to be shut down! Do not sign up at this gym! Waste of money! You will regret it!

I signed up a little less then a year ago & I totally regret paying the whole year off. Staff are super rude. Gym is so dirty, super humid and hot. No ventilation at all.
Went in last night with a friend. My contract I payed for said I could take a friend for free 8 times a month. The front gentlemen said i wasnt able to I said okay, pull my contract out & a co worker told him I could. They need to all be on the same page but most important, CLEAN THIS PLACE!!!

Since the new owners took over Gilroy Athletic Club, the cleanliness of the health club has gone down… women’s bathroom is a disgrace… handicap toilet door does not shut, empty paper towel dispensers (told the front desk. nothing done), hand sanitizer dispensers empty, mold and mildew in women’s shower, chemicals use to clean floors are toxic… causing burning eyes and coughing, many broken fixtures. The Health Department should come in to analyze the filthiness of this workout club. If I didn’t have a contract, I would definitely look into a cleaner, healthier club. With all the new homes adding to Gilroy’s beautiful, scenic country-​like culture, Fitness Evolution is a total disgrace and embarrassment.

Summary Of Issues:
–65% of the equipment is broken or needs maintenance
–No paper towels/​no cleaning tools anywhere (bottles etc)
–No ventilation, no air-​conditioning causing sweat to build up in the back rooms
–Zero cleaning done anywhere in the gym
–Mismatched weights/​handles/​attachments scattered throughout gym
–Horrible rating by the BBB
–Unsafe lifting enviorment in the back near the dumbells when at peak times (3PM — 9:30PM)
–No hope in sight

I’ve been a member of this gym when it was Gilroy Health and Fitness. It’s so sad to see this gym now being run into the ground. I am no longer excited to workout here now. New staff doesn’t greet you, always awkward walking in and leaving… not to mention that some of the machines have been broken for quite awhile now and no one ever cleans the gym any more.

This is the only fitness evolution in the area with a sauna, the one in willow Glen has a stream room but it’s not the same. Plus this one has a couple machines they don’t have at any other fitness Evo. I do wish they had a cardio theatre though.

SCAM alert! DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT enter a contract with them of you will regret it! I was told when I signed up that I would be paying $ 15 per month. The fine print says a $ 5 fee per month for using a credit card so the next month, I switched it to my debit card, but they said that the person who signed me up «must have been mistaken»
They are not clear how to cancel your contract. I was told that mine and my fiancée’s accounts were canceled over the phone but then got charged again the next month. When I called to cancel, they told me to call the corporate number. When I called that number, the not very friendly woman told me that I would either have to go in physically or send a certified letter. Not wanting to spend anymore money, I went in physically to cancel our memberships. The person at the front desk told me that I can only cancel my own membership despite having signed up for my fiancé’s membership without him present and it being under my payment information — ridiculous policy! They have since charged me again for his membership and I am going to dispute with my credit card and report it to the better business bureau. No matter how nice their facilities — STAY AWAY!

The sauna has been broken since mid November, and the steam room is now non-​functional at least in the past days. It sounds like the staff have given different explanations as to why it is down: «…awaiting parts…» is one, but mine was «…the bench slats are too broken, safety hazard…». Uh, I’ve built my own sauna about the same size and nicer than theirs, and any professional woodworker handyman could rebuild the wooden bench in an afternoon with lumber from Home Depot 1 mile away.
What this really is, is bait and switch. Fitness Evolution is big, and is a franchise in many cases: their lawyers probably told them to let certain facilities they deem higher risk of lawsuit than others wither on the vine, stall, delay, make excuses, until everyone forgets about it once it has been broken six months: that’s the kind of company that doesn’t really care about your overall health club experience if it gets in the way of their corporate model. The sauna and steamroom are two things i treasure the highest in my healthclub, but it is probably also the highest on corporate Fitness Evolutions desire to get rid of («those pesky adults who demand a healthy sauna!»”, they yell, «…let’s discourage them… we want mindless treadmill runners and the lowest maintenance customers possible… because we aren’t selling quality, we are selling quantity of health clubness… with blaring disco music… even in the locker rooms!».
Other than that is a square deal. Other than apparently lying to customers about why the #1 most used per capita piece of equipment is out of service for 45 days, it’s a square deal.

If you just want to use the equipment or attend a class, the gym is fine. They have lots of free weights and weight machines. They also have several really good instructors (Marcy and Suzie are tops).
If you want cleanliness, forget it. I’ve never seen anyone but the occasional user clean a spin bike or workout mat. The exercise balls have never been cleaned: you may want a hazmat suit. I’ve never seen the wood floor in the large class room (which is now doubles as the spinning room) be cleaned. The men’s locker room is filthy. The toilets/​seats are often soiled and anywhere near the urinals smells like pee (could be the divider, which looks like it’s never been cleaned).
The heated pool: ha. The heater hasn’t worked for close to a month. Likewise for the men’s steam room. The showers have empty soap dispensers more often than not and use foaming hand soap rather than some type of body soap. The lights by the sink often have dead bulbs, and when they work, the whopping 10 – 15 watts they put out makes shaving quite the challenge.
Most of the staff have the personality of a tree (Shig at the front desk being a notable exception). Nobody on staff re racks the weights. Sometimes the dumbbell you want is nowhere to be found. Most of the tvs on the treadmills don’t work and those with video often lack audio. If you want to use a spin bike while classes are being run, good luck, as only 2 bikes are available upstairs, and one is often missing a seat. Many weight machines lack instructions for use, others are out of order.
Oh, and the music! Often it’s barely audible, which might not be a bad thing. Often it’s dance club music, which isn’t exactly health club music.
I’ve been a member for 8+ years. I thought it was bad when it was Gilroy Health and Fitness, but wow, it’s so much worse since Fitness Evolution took over. I’m holding out hope it gets better, but it’s not looking good.

Well… Well… Well…
I have to admit I gave Fitness Evolution a second chance. The team I’ve been working real close with has proven to be very professional, engaging, and committed. I am extremely pleased to be guided by the Evo Fit instructors Zach, Michelle, Katie, and my ultimate favorite Danny. I wanted to quit My group training because I was so out of shape and with back problems but this team of instructors never gave up on me. It has been a full month and they are still walking me through this transition. Not only is the Evo Fit class a great start to getting fit but the team is what keeps me coming back with dedication from both ends I’m positive the results are going to be grand. Keep up the great work Zack, Michelle, Katie, and Danny! Show everyone what a fitness instructor is supposed to be like!

Don’t sign up unless you want endless unauthorized charges !!!
I canceled my membership months ago and I’m still being billed. I sent in the written cancelation letter because according to them a phone call is not enough and sure enough I’m still being billed. This is ridiculous !! Months ago I sent my cancelation letter and now no one answers the phone. Doesn’t help that I moved over an hour away if not I would be there right now trying to get some answers.

Very disappointed! Been a member of this facility way back when it was ParkSide then changed over to Gilroy health and fitness and as today which is Fitness Evolution!
That being said, this is the first time I’ve had reasons to approach with a complaint. I’ve not visited the gym since new ownership but recently signed up my son for 3 private trainings which went well and they enjoyed but last Wednesday I entered the gym with no problems but to be told later on that the Bank card that I had given them was no good and $ 199.00 each for my son and myself had gone into collections.
I never received any prior notices of this issue nor was I once stopped during my visit to inform me of such and the card that they should have on file is the same card I’ve used for years with Gilroy Health and fitness.
I’m very upset and plan to Talk too The manager because this is ridiculous and hoping they resolve this matter while humbly admitting and taking responsibility of the error being on them.

Updated review: I’m still fed up with gym and its corporate office! They keep insisting I wasn’t wrongfully charge but of course to them I wasn’t because they automatically withdrawal money from account! I was clearly cancelled according to a former manager from the Gilroy location that they ended up firing because he fucken sucked! But are they listen to me telling them that it was the former manager mistake because he often left things out and didn’t tell me that my account will be active after those months !!! Well NO ! Because all they want is their money! Don’t sign up for the gym they won’t reimburse you if they fuck up. HORRIBLE GYM !!!
There should be a no star option! This gym fucken sucks! I canceled my gym membership back in July and I recently got charged after 5 months!!! Anyways it made my debit account overdraft twice !! Due to no notice that they were going to charge me I haven’t even been to that gym since after I canceled back in July! I’m going to fight for my money back even if I have to take legal action!!! No stars !! This gym sucks!
Do not sign up! They just steal your money. I’m going to make sure this gym closes for wrongfully charging me after I already cancelled! And they never answer their phone why have one if your just going to let it ring! I called corporate on this gym twice before my recent situation! I’m fed up with fitness evolution and ready to take legal action! The employees fail to give out all the details and often leave things out all they do is stand there all shit faced and flirt with each other !! Horrible gym!

Disrespectful staff. Was told my boyfriend Tyler who is a previous trainer at this gym and I can’t work out together? Although we both have memberships.
Personal trainer Michelle is still the best.

This place meets my needs. Sometimes it seems like the people behind the counter get a little overexcited during the usual dub-​step/​synthesizer/​hip hop songs being played. When not doing that, they seem to do a lot of standing around and not much else.
I’ve had two billing issues but was able to clear them up in a timely fashion. Parking here is a major issue and you’re pretty much SOL if you come too early or too late in the day. Other than that — I cannot complain about $ 9.99/month and the new machines they’ve brought to the mix.

First off id like to make it clear that I would give zero stars if it was possible. I RARELY give bad Unilocal reviews. But this I cannot bite my tounge any longer.
I recently purchased a membership here and have had horrible experiences almost every visit with the front desk supervisor Mike.
My first interaction with him is when I was signing up for my membership. He was not forthcoming with details of the membership when I signed up except for the details about the complimentary personal training session. Which i opted out for because i wasn’t interested in but he proceeded to sign me up without my knowledge anyway. I got a call at 7am the next morning from a personal trainer saying I had missed my appointment and to call to reschedule. This woke me up on a work day when I needed optimal rest.
He was also rude and condescending when I had brought someone for the guest pass privilege’s. They had stopped having these privileges supposedly September 1^st which I was NOT aware of and he told me I would have to pay 5 dollars monthly. I stated to him that I would just leave and come back with cash in full to pay it off and he said okay. Not only did he go out of his way to rudely tell me he told me all of this information he tried to make me look stupid in front of my guest.
I came back again a couple days later to pay in cash FULL for the year with my guest, and he then proceeded to tell me that I needed to put my credit card information down to get privileges. I’m completely fine with these types of policies but the way he talks to his members is unacceptable if you’re going to be in a customer service business. Why was this not told to me prior when I told him specifically that I was going to pay in cash? And lets not forget that he made my guest and I wait for 20 minutes so he could take a call on his cell phone just to get told this information.
The only reason I stayed calm in this situation was because the personal trainer Mike D was extremely kind and helpful. He’s definitely customer service oriented and honestly the only reason I would even stay here.
Another interaction I had with him was when it was near closing. A couple other people were in the same room with me with all of the treadmills. He comes in the room with no warning that the gym was closing turned off all the lights. At night time! So it was completely dark and the only light was the faint light from the hallway at the complete other side of the room. Mind you there was a guy squatting at the squat rack with around 300 pounds. He struggled to put the l the bar back because he couldn’t find the pegs to rerack. This could have been a horrific situation if he dropped all the weight and could have gotten severely injured. Not to mention I tripped over some weights that weren’t reracked trying to get to out of this pitch black room. This is definitely not okay. It’s like he’s asking for a lawsuit.
I’ve realized his staff interactions and member customer service interactions are sub par at maximum.
Anytime I see him when I go into the gym I’m instantaneously put off and irritated because of his arrogant demeanor.
The amazing price isn’t worth putting up with the garbage customer service.
It makes anytime fitness’s more expensive price that much more worth it knowing you don’t get treated this way.

Since Fitness Evolution bought out the former «Gilroy Health and Fitness», it has been downhill from there. I am always getting charged with Hidden Fees and their accounting is always making mistakes. This has happened over 4 times.
Their staff are not well trained and un-​professional.
the cleaning staff will get right in your way, during peak hours of the day. And the towels/​Cleaner solution are always out!
