Popsugar Must Have Box

I am somewhat new to the whole subscription box fad, but I love it! It’s probably a good thing that I just heard about them recently. I wouldn’t have had the money to go to Grad School, buy a house or get married if I knew about them earlier.
My first interaction with Popsugar wasn’t great. I was supposed to get the December box, but I never got it. I had e mailed with customer service and always received a quick response explaining that I would received a refund for the box I did not receive. The January box was great. Each month there are several themes to the box and it is filled with home décor items, beauty items, jewelry, accessories and gourmet snacks. One of the theme’s of the January box was organization. It consisted of a collapsible storage bin, weekly planner, and a book on organization.
It also consisted of Patchology facemasks (awesome), small bottles of shower gel, and sugar free gum.
I am looking forward to the February box, which will consist of Victoria’s Secret body lotion, gift card, a jewelry item and more.
Price is reasonable for the quantity and selection of items you receive. Prices start at $ 39.95/month.
I have tried a few other subscription boxes, but think that Popsugar is one of the better ones.

Generally excellent boxes destroyed by absolutely no customer service. I really had no problems with them until I decided to get extend a subscription I had purchased. Unfortunately, this wasn’t an option on the website, so I purchased the additional 6 months and immediately contacted them to extend the original subscriptions (same addressee, etc.). Well, 4 attempts to contact them later including posting to their Twitter account and absolutely no response nor recognition of the issue, and thus, I have now received (and paid for) two of the same boxes each month for the last 2 months and I expect this will continue until the first subscription finally ends soon. Given that lack of responsiveness, I have now put the charge on hold through AMEX. Perhaps once we pull the funding back, they will get a clue. Unless you feel really lucky that you won’t ever have a single problem, I suggest staying far away!

I wish zero stars was an option. I had to file chargebacks to get my items – twice in two orders. I just received my holiday stocking stuffer box, which was GUARANTEED for delivery by December 24^th, today. This, coupled with a November box ordered on ¹¹⁄₁₈ and not delivered until 12/​29, made my holiday shopping experience a complete disaster. I was a first time subscriber in November. After multiple emails were ignored (sending out a we are super busy, hang on tight!) I cancelled before even receiving my first order. I was left scrambling for gifts that has never arrived. Sending out blank responses stating you are busy and will get back to me soon, but never responding, is NOT a response PopSugar. Blogs are filled with people dealing with issue after issue, from never receiving their orders, to broken items that are not replaced. Buy this subscription at your own risk. I have never had such a horrible experience with a company. Luckily my credit card refunded me both of these purchases, so PopSugar didn’t get a dime from me. Their horrible customer service has motivated me to tell everyone and everyone who will listen what a horrible company this is.

This box is a giant waste of money. More importantly, they send out a «Friends and Family» discount coupon and, if you dare take advantage of it, it creates two separate subscriptions so you have duplicate boxes going to your address. And, they refuse to cancel a box to avoid getting two of the same boxes. I emailed them (there is no human to call, just email Customer Service) in plenty of time to request that only box be mailed to me after I purchased a six month plan and now they are telling me I must continue to have two subscriptions (duplicate boxes each month) and that «most customers want duplicate boxes for either themselves or as gifts.» Talk about deceptive business practices.
Save yourself the headaches and hassles and not deal with this company. The items you get in these boxes just isn’t worth it. In six months, I received maybe 5 products I liked. The rest was just junk and is housed in a junk drawer or I threw it all away.

I am not against Popsugar in general. but I am really annoyed with how they touted their target box. it was all over my inbox for days… that today was the day its for sale. and so I noticed at 9:05 am that they went on sale. I clicked in at 9:15 to buy one. and it was SOLD OUT!!! What??? In 10 MINUTES? The whole country??? How many did they have? 5?
Really false advertisement. inbox annoyance. super lame. and not cool.

Not good on them. and I was also disappointed w December’s box.
You know. if you are going to promote something so much. have it in stock!

I give the boxes 5 stars and the costumer service 2. The boxes themselves are amazing. The products in the boxes are great quality and things I use often. I love the variety of products offered.
I wish the customer service was better. The only way to reach them is by email and they are not helpful. My past complaint was they charged me for two December 2015 boxes and were not willing to refund one or let the credit go towards a January box. They were going to send me two of the same box. Somehow, even through they created a packing slip, they never sent the second December box. I am hopeful that they moved the credit to January even though I was not told if they did. Fingers crossed.

It’s impossible to get any customer service from this company. If you post on their FB page they answer right away but they only respond they don’t help in any way. I can’t confirm the address I input for a gift I ordered. Now I just want to cancel the whole thing. If they can’t answer after 3 attempts this is no doubt a big disaster waiting to happen. I’ll have to take it up with my cc company to get it canceled.

I just received my very first box, after having many people recommend, and the inside was completely damaged from an exploding cake mix pack. I contacted customer service to get a replacement box, and offered to ship mine back, and they still wouldn’t. They’re making me keep the box and all it’s contents because «no items were damaged.» So now I get to fish through chocolate covered items. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Worst customer service I’ve ever received. When I asked for a customer service #, they wouldn’t even give it to me. DO NOT GET THIS. Total scam in my opinion.

These guys don’t seem to have any idea what Customer Service means. I have an issue with my account, have sent multiple emails and Facebook messages and have never gotten a response. Now, here we are, 9 days from Christmas, with no idea if a gift box that was guaranteed to ship on Dec 2 (ha!) is ever going to be delivered. I’ve been double charged for December, have sent multiple messages, and have received no response. So thank you for stealing my money, pop sugar. My next stop is a BBB complaint.

Truly not satisfied, primarily with the fact that the order comes one month late!
I recently ordered this as a gift for someone, a one time order to «test» it and see how it works out, and I am pleased I did not order a «subscription.» I wanted the recipient to have something new and different since Popsugar seemed to vary their products and not simply be wine, candy, make-​up, or other standardized items. Their selling point for me were that they had different levels and types of objects in each box.
(as a note I ordered near one month out, so that there was no «delay» or that I may have missed the time frame to get the box in the month I desired)
The order was placed and should have arrived in the first week of October, well, it didn’t. I gave it an extra day or so, but by the middle of the month I had already emailed them twice and still no package?
The customer service replies were scripted and formatted responses with a signature block pasted at the end. So much for «personalization» from a company that wants to be «personal» and unique?
The first email was to the effect that «sorry for the delay, but your package is on the way.» The second email that I received in response to my additional request simply stated to the effect «here is your tracking number…»
When I clicked on the link for the tracking number it dropped into the Popsugar home page and you are required to sign into your account? Then guess what? (because I already checked before emailing them) There is NO INFORMATION for tracking of your package! [big surprise]. Seems like they just want your traffic and account activity with nothing else. I found other online complaints similar in nature. Great work Popsugar [sarcasm]
I was able to FINALLY discern my tracking number from the link that they sent me as a FedEx tracking number and directly entered it into the FedEx site. Low and behold it showed that they shipped it well after the middle of the month, so they can’t blame the courier; you own it Pop Sugar, the delays are all your fault.
In the end a box did arrive and the only way I knew it was because of FedEx tracking and not due to customer service support’s care and concerns at Popsugar. Thank you FedEx.
The box was a simple box of: fuzzy socks, pillow cases, lotion, and whatever else that they oddly packed together. Not exactly unique, but it would have probably been better (and I less critical) if it would have showed up ON TIME.

— they always send you emails on EVERYTHING about their website, EXCEPT your order status
— they love to send you survey’s so you can tell them GOOD or BAD
Cons: [seriously…no sarcasm]
— The customer service communication is not the best
— The order arrived late
— The order tracking is not accurate
— Account profile does not show your order status, receipt, tracking, etc.
I am sure people may disagree with me on this, as others may have had a great experience, but mine is factual and accurate.
I was a guy looking to get someone something unique, like I always like to do, but it seems that Popsugar was a terrible choice. I simply could not provide any excuses as to why it was late and there is nothing more horrifying than telling someone «your gift is in the mail and I am not sure when it will arrive»; especially, from myself when I do my best to get people gifts that are unique an ON TIME for the occasion.
Overall, I would NEVER recommend Popsugar because there are to many other options out there that are willing to do a much better service.
P. S. I look forward to you sending me yet another email and survey so I can passionately tell you my thoughts. [NOTE:…that was more sarcasm. I am unsubscribing to your emails now that the package arrived]

The boxes themselves have been great… if they arrive. It is December and I never received my November Box. I received notice of it shipping on ¹¹⁄₁₄ but, the tracking number was not linked to any shipment. I have emailed customer service 4 times and at first they responded saying I would get a box but they could not give me shipping information. Since then they stopped responding and I still have nothing. There is no phone number to call. The frustration, lack of customer service and delays are NOT worth the boxes.

I purchased the CFDA SE box and was very disappointed. Talk about total failure — costume jewelry as the hero item in a box that didn’t even deliver the promised value. I realize sub boxes are a gamble, but this is the first time I felt the need to complain. For starters the box had little to do with fashion even though the marketing for the box said otherwise; the box value was supposed to be $ 600 but did not even come close; the items themselves, while some of them were okay, did not fit into the CFDA theme. Especially since customers were promised emerging designers. None of them were «emerging». Especially not the now defunct Marc by Marc Jacobs. And don’t even get me started on the super sketchy price fluctations on the earrings. (If you google the spoilers for this or check their FB user posts you will see what I am referring to).
I gave two stars here because Popsugar finally responded to all the negative emails, comments, and tweets by offering a full refund on the box. I definitely appreciate this. However, they still never apolgized for misleading customers and selling a box that was poorly curated. There was simply no acknowledgement or accountability here. Instead they found a way out by stating they are not responsible for price fluctuations on a retailer’s site, but in this one extreme case they are willing to let their customers return the box. Like they were doing everyone a huge favor, completely missing the point that this wasnt about the value promised anymore, but rather the deceptive tactics that suckered tons of people into parting with their money.
Anyway, I loved Popsugar, but this experience with their customer service was so awful and completely shady that I will be ditching them asap. I cannot justify giving them anymore of my money.

This box is awesome. I get the monthly plus buy a few specials every year. I highly recommend the Special Holiday (Men’s and Women’s are awesome) and the Resort. Neiman Marcus was great in 2013, 2014 was good but not as good.
The monthly box is amazing value — I’ve gotten books, candles, really high end cosmetics and fast fashion jewelry. I’ve been giving away the items that I don’t use as gifts.

Not worth it, the recent box was a Benefit sample you can get at Sephora, Air freshener, a plastic paper holder, a plastic brush, a pad of paper to check off your vacation supplies. Think Christmas Tree store. Shameful

PopSugar has returned to its former glory. They have worked through all the transition issues and are better than ever. I am glad that I didn’t let my crankiness get in the way because I love this subscription box!

I ordered a Baby Boy Gift Box on January 2^nd. Their FAQ says boxes ship after 5 days max. It’s January 21^st and I never received the box or any tracking info. I followed up with their customer service over a week ago and have not received a response.
If you look at the other reviews and look at the posts on their Facebook page, this is typical behavior from PopSugar. I have no idea whether I will ever receive my box or a refund. Or even a response from them. Their customer service is terrible and they seem totally unwilling to do anything about it. I was thinking of subscribing and I’m so glad I didn’t, after this debacle I am done and I will be warning all my friends (and all you internet folks out there) not to go anywhere near this box.

Love this sub box! I got this as a gift starting with the special holiday must have box and today I just opened the January box!
The items are all quality and while not ever single thing in the box is something I’ll use I can regift them. I agree the items can sometimes be found cheaper than full price but so far every box I’ve seen (from reading oodles of reviews) has been worth the cost.
Plus, it’s super duper fun to get something like this each month!
I’m not saying the other reviewers are wrong. I haven’t had to deal with any issues. I just really enjoy the box.
I guess it comes down to how you get value out of it. I get value from the items, trying new products, and getting something of a surprise each month!
I’ll update if this situation changes but for now I’m a big fan!

Look, I do really love this box. I’ve been a subscriber since the very beginning, and I don’t know if I can ever unsubscribe. I’ve bought most of the Limited Edition boxes too except Neiman Marcus, because I can’t justify spending $ 250 on a hit or miss box (and I’ve been disappointed with the two NM boxes they’ve had).
I haven’t used absolutely everything I’ve ever gotten in the box, but I’ve used most of it and have found a lot of great products that I went back and purchased again. Some things have made really great gifts.
PopSugar got me hooked on those Snap Pea Crisps! One time I went to Target and filled an entire basket with them… don’t judge… Some of my other favorites include: Make Lipstick (I get so many compliments when wearing this lipstick… and I thought I could never pull off red!), Too Faced Natural Eye (use this everyday!), Boden Mugs (can’t buy any other mug now), Flip calendar featuring illustrated cities of the world (I’m going to cut the pictures out and frame them after 2014 is up… they are too adorable to throw away), TokyoMilk body lotion (heavenly smell), Nike gift card, Library of Flowers bubble bath (the perfume, candle, and body wash for this is on my Christmas Wish List!)…there are a ton more.
I do have some complaints as of late though. Back in the day I used to get the box by the 5^th or so day of the month. Now it takes 2 weeks, and I know some people have to wait longer than that… like those of you who are still waiting on your NOVEMBER box and it’s DECEMBER 12TH. They send the boxes to bloggers first it seems, and then spoilers hit the internet. Now, I can’t resist spoilers, so of course I just HAVE to look at them! Before I didn’t have to look at spoilers because I’d receive the box before they were even out!
I wish they would stop sending books even though I love to read. They actually don’t send that many books, but the ones they do send are typically romance novels and I rarely read romance. Although I suppose someone else could complain that they send too many candles or scarves. I love candles, so the more candles the better. I don’t actually wear scarves that much, but most of them have been big enough to use as table cloths or laid decoratively on the back of a chair.
My other complaint is I’ve sent a couple emails regarding a recent promo code and have yet to get a response. My December box was missing an item and they responded to that email within 10 minutes, so they do read them! I’ve emailed them about various things about 4x in the past few days and only the one was answered. They’ve taken a lot of heat as of late for their customer service, and they probably deserve it for the most part.
Regardless, this is hands down my favorite subscription box out there (BarkBox too… get it for your dog ASAP!) I’m subscribed to 6 different boxes, and this is definitely the one I get the most excited for. Even if I see spoilers way before my box arrives.

As I was reading most if the reviews on here my disappointment with this company has heightened!!!
I had been a member for a year as of this afternoon when I canceled my monthly subscription.
The first few months were great! Easy access to my account, cool items in the box, and heck if it wasn’t for me I would gift the item.
First issue: email change
You would think this was an easy fix… not so much! So for the last 6months I haven’t been able to log into my account! The one email that was sent to me explained since I followed the blog the emails wouldn’t be able to merge???
Second issue: October and November Box arrived really late
Normally I received the box by the first week of the month. And of course I couldn’t access my account so it was a mystery lol!
I emailed two weeks ago about not being able to log into my account, I just got the reply this afternoon.
Needless to say I still can’t log in correctly!
Perhaps they should hire a tech team for these types of issues, maybe have the courtesy of calling their customers.
I guess it’s a lesson learned. If the company your doing business with doesn’t have a customer service number, probably some shady stuff going on.

I started following a blogger who’s sole purpose is to review subscription boxes. That was sort of a bad idea since it’s made me an addict. I now feel like I have to receive a monthly box of some kind. August was PopSugar’s one year anniversary box and when I saw the spoiler alert of this fabulous gold necklace, I knew I had to have it. $ 35 seems like a lot in comparison to a lot of other boxes, but the necklace alone was valued at around $ 65.
August contents:
–Gorjana and Griffin gold circle necklace. Super cute and one of my favorite things in my box. Only problem was that it’s a bit of a choker style necklace and too short for my likings, but nothing that a cheap chain extender won’t fix. ($ 65)
–Red apple bowl. Cute but nothing I’d never buy. It’s smaller than I thought it would be so it’s basically became a home for my loose change. (est at $ 45 but I think that’s way overvalued)
–Lulah peony body wash. I have crap loads of body wash and body products, so I kinda groaned when I saw this, however it’s actually fabulous bubble bath. I’ve already used more than ½ of the bottle. ($ 11)
–Bentgo lunch box. This is my favorite item in the box! They are those little plastic lunchboxes with divided sections, so you can bring your lunch to work or school. I’ve only used it once so far to bring «road trip» snacks with grapes, cheese and nuts, but I know I’ll love the hell out of it for awhile. ($ 15)
–Dermalogica pre-​cleanse and cleansing gel. Why the hell do I need to pre wash my face? I don’t know much about skincare, so I don’t understand the system or the chemistry behind it, but I know that it makes my skin super soft. I’ve used half of this already too. (Sample size, so price point is hard to guess)
–Weekly to do book. Adorable because it’s chevron print, but I have no need for this. That’s what I use technology for. Will save for re-​gifting. ($ 17)
–Nature Box Granny Smith Apples. So good and the only ingredients is apples! It also came with a 50% off promo code to try Naturebox for one month, so you know I signed up for that too. (Review will be coming for that too once I finally devour its contents) $ 4
I think that I got my $ 35 worth with the necklace and lunchbox alone. I was extremely happy with the contents and the only meh item was the notebook. I did cancel the box this month because I am doing Little Black Bag, Naturebox, and Ipsy for September, but I’m pretty sure I will be renewing again soon once I test the waters with other sub boxes.
