B.A.B.S Firearms Training “For Women, By Women”

My daughter & I just finished the Firearm Training 101 & 102. Raina is an excellent instructor, with her first priority being safety. She made the class fun, interesting and I felt most comfortable with her teaching and direction. Raina showed us how to find the best gun fit for our hand with the many different types of firearms she had in class, and the caliber we were most comfortable shooting while at the range. This was an important piece of information as you can’t exactly take a gun for a test drive.
Her syllabus was very well done, beautiful, concise, with colored pictures, and easy to read instructions that will be a great tool for refreshing my memory in the future.
The afternoon sessions at the shooting range was a perfect place to actually use the information and techniques we had learned in class. Raina was right there with us every moment to gently remind us what we had learned. She followed up after each class with an email about any questions we might have, and information about the firearms that we liked during shooting at the range.
In the 102 class we learned how to take apart the firearm we were most interested in, learned how to clean, maintain and, very important, how to reassemble the gun. We also learned how to correct common misfire conditions, and learned ammunition basics.
After the 102 class Raina went with our class to purchase firearms that my daughter and I had decided to buy, that was a big help to us. Afterward she sent me the email link to the night sites I wanted on my new pistol, and the link to the gunsmith she recommended.
The most amazing part is my daughter and I have so enjoyed this learning process, that we will continue to learn and have fun with this new venture.

I took the Fundamentals class (101 class) last weekend. Raina is an amazing instructor. Her sense of humor and all-​inclusive teaching style and generally warm attitude make her class non-​intimidating in an industry FULL of intimidation and ego.
She showed us everything from how guns work, to how to hold and handle them (Started with fake guns she called «blue guns»), how to choose the right gun, size, and caliper for ourselves. Then we went to a range and actually got to experience shooting under her tutelage.
After taking the B.A.B.S. 101 Fundamentals class, I confidently walked into a gun shop, was able to judge the actions of the person across the counter from me, and was able to look at different choices with confidence, and without feeling intimidated in any way. I can’t wait to take the 102 class and get a personal training session with her!
I 100% recommend these classes for any woman who wants to explore the idea of handguns, or shooting in general, for fun or for self-​defense.

I can’t recommend BABS & Raina highly enough. I am no stranger to guns, but I hated shooting them. After taking the 101 class with Raina, I have done a 180. She does an amazing job of making women feel safe and confident in handling a gun. It was such an amazing environment for a woman to learn in. She teaches you not just to shoot, but all the details of how a gun works, and what every little part does. She teaches you everything you need to know. I shot a whole box of ammo myself today, and had fun! I NEVER thought that would happen for me. Thank you for providing such an invaluable service Raina! I feel so much safer in my own home.

Just had the B.A.B.S. 101 class today. It was excellent and I would highly recommend it to any woman who wants to learn about gun safety and proper shooting technique – either as a beginner or as a refresher course. There’s no pressure and I didn’t feel intimidated or self-​conscious at all. I was totally comfortable asking whatever question popped into my head. It’s also nice they have a variety of handguns to try using so you can decide which one (s) feels the most comfortable to you. Both Raina and Leiwa (sp?) are great instructors and have good senses of humor too so the class is fun!
Now I feel like I can go with my husband to the range and feel much more confident in shooting and not feeling like I have NOOB stamped on my forehead. ;)
