Yappy Hour Pet Resort

These people are grrrrrrreat!!! Toby loves it here! No doubt, when we go on vacation he goes on vacation! These folks treat every dog as if they are their very own!

The two stars are for the availability they had and the friendliness of the staff. However, that was not enough to compensate for the smell and anxiety that greeted me when I walked in. Located in a strip mall, Yappy Hour has the feel of a large warehouse when you walk in– concrete floors, echoing sounds (barking for days), and two gated areas for dogs large and small.
Other reviews shared that they aren’t allowed to take dogs outdoors per Gladstone’s regulations, which is a shame. But I just can’t understand this place getting five stars on Unilocal when there are far better places you could leave your dog for the holidays. A last resort, in my book.

Been bringing my Dog here for a few years now. He always has friends to play with and is usually wiped out for the next 24 hours after bringing him home. Nicole and Curtis are always great to work with!

We have finally found a place that we feel comfortable leaving our dogs at while we are away. They always have a great time and are worn out for two days straight after we get back. Very Sweet couple that runs the place. The only thing I wish they did is required yearly vaccination records that are up to date. We did have to provide records when we first signed up but that was three years ago. Regardless I will continue to bring my dogs here because it is a decent price and they are taken care of well. Thank you Nicole and Curtis :)

Our bulldog visited Yappy Hour for the first time today and lets just say I went home with a happy tired dog. I work nights and it’s hard to get puppy time in when I need to sleep and go back the next night; so this was a solution where everybody wins! Staff is very friendly and easy to work with. Very good about making sure your dog has a safe experience and is up to date on shots. It’s also great for puppy socialization!

We love this place and so does our dog Bear! We travel quite a bit and have boarded our dog at numerous doggy-​daycares and this is by far our #1 spot. Even though we only come to KC a few times a year, the owners remember us and our dog by first name. It’s obvious that they genuinely care for all of their «kids». Oh, and the homemade treats are an added bonus!!! Hours of operation and location are excellent too! Can’t say enough good things about this place.

This place is a LIFE SAVER! As a semi not responsible pet owner I forget when i am out of town and need LAST MINUTE doggie bording. Yappy Hour is convenient always willing and super easy to work with and get Remi in at a moments notice.
Biggest difference from this place to others is that with other places for some reason teh mindset is backwards… t he dogs stay in kennels all day and then get a little bit of play time here and there. These are dogs!!! let them run. At YH they let the pups run around all day and really burn off that energy and then they get to rest at night.
Our dog loves this place and when she gets home from a night or 2 she is wiped out from playing. We love it.
Take your dog here — you won’t regret it!

I find it disturbing when people that are suppose to know dogs, discriminate against certain breeds. Discrimination because of DNA = Ignorant.

It doesn’t look impressive from the outside but I love this place! The owners are so sweet, knowledgeable and patient with you and your pet. They let you know how they did try to always be ready with your puppy at the door when you get there. My dog is high energy and is a tripaw and Yappy Hour is always watching out to make sure she doesn’t over do it. I highly recommend them!

I love Yappy Hour… and so does my dog, Max. No, they don’t take the dogs outside, but that’s not Yappy Hour’s fault. If I recall correctly, it’s a Gladstone ordinance? Anyways, the couple that runs it are so friendly and dedicated! They know all the dogs by name, and always remember facts about my life when I come in.
I’ve boarded Max here several times because I travel pretty often. Being a rescue dog he can have some separation anxiety, and the first time I took him in he was shy and reserved. Scared even. It’s a lot to take in for a little dog. Now, though, when we get out in the parking lots he practically pulls me through the doors and never looks back! It’s nice knowing he’s being taken care of and safe.
A couple of things I like about Yappy Hour that I haven’t noticed other people say… 1. They do separate the big dogs from the smaller ones so they’re playing with dogs their own size. 2. After a certain number of nights of boarding, they will give your dog a free bath. (They also put the dog’s in «bath jail» after they’re clean. It’s an unbearably cute name for keeping the clean dogs from the dirty ones.) I like getting to take home a clean, exhausted, happy pup. 3. They have an in-​house bakery for puppy treats and feed the dogs a treat during the day. Max loves the treats and I’ve sometimes ended up buying them for him.
Overall, I think it’s a great business. Reasonably priced, friendly, family-​owned. Keep up the great work, Yappy Hour!

Ok I tried this place on a whim with a Groupon. My Siberian Husky tends to have some separation anxiety and if left in a traditional kennel will escape and wreak havoc. He’s a total mental mess when I get him home, but if he’s at a place where he gets interaction with other dogs and people he tends to be fine. A tired dog is a happy dog!
I really wish Yappy Hour was closer to home for me. I would use this place for daycare as well! The owners are great. When I walk in the dogs are usually calm with a few running around, but as soon as my Riley sees me he gets everyone excited, but for those first 2 seconds it’s very zen and the dogs all appear to get along. I’ve taken Riley to several places and most of the time he reeks of kennel and needs a bath. Although he does get a doggy smell (I’m sure from playing and having other dogs slobber on him) he’s not covered in excrement or dirt. They keep the place very clean considering there’s no outdoor space for the pups.

I can’t say enough good things about Yappy Hour. I LOVE how they post photos of my dog on Facebook while we’re away. It just gives me peace of mind that he’s having a great time. (Definitely takes away some of the guilt of going on vacation without him, too.) Nichole and Curtis are wonderful. I actually wrote a longer review of Yappy Hour here, if you’re still on the fence:

I have not boarded my dog here, but I have taken him for day care once and to play many times. The couple that owns the place is so nice. They remember me and my dog, by name. They are kind enough to take pictures and post them on their facebook page to share the joyful photos of our pets playing. They knew I was nervous about bringing Romeo to daycare. He is very spoiled and gets separation anxiety if he’s left alone anywhere he is not used to. However, he did great and they left me a voicemail to let me know he was doing well so I would not worry about him while I was gone. The lady owner, Nichole, even let him hang out behind the front desk while he was getting used to being there without me. We enjoy going to outdoor parks, but I do like to take him here when the weather is too humid or too cold. They do a great job of being attentive to dogs who do not play nice, and separate the problem immediately. They also keep the place clean considering what they’re dealing with constantly.

The couple that owns and run Yappy Hour are so nice and we always know that our dog is in great hands. The dogs there enjoy themselves and are well taken care of. We use both the boarding and daycare services. Both are well priced and great.

It was time for Colt to go on vacation while mommy and daddy went somewhere without him. Where do we drop off doggie? Yappy Hour came to the rescue.
This is located in a «mini» mall and is entirely indoors. They do not bring the dogs outdoors. They have them all running around the space indoors with each other and the dogs seemed to be having a blast (it was quite loud and barky when we arrived). The one dog that wasn’t playing nice, was all by itself in it’s area until it calmed down and was OK to be reintroduced.
The staff was quite nice in person and on the phone (when we asked if they could keep him an extra day). We had him here twice, but we won’t be back unless it’s an emergency.
This kennel (not unlike SOME other kennels) allows the dogs to just go wherever and they never take them outside to do their business. Unfortunately our dog picked up this habit when he came home and did #2 on the floor a few times. Thankfully, a week later, he was back to his regular habits and had broken his crappy addiction.
They explained to us that Gladstone regulations don’t allow them to take dogs outside despite the weather conditions :(What a stupid rule! Who thought of that one?
If they move or Gladstone drops that regulation, we’d be glad to do business with them again.

Used to take my dog there a few times a week when I worked long hours. Sadly I dont need him there as much, but I do board him there when we are gone, and an occasional day. Nichole does a great job of communicating with you about how your dog is doing, I. e might have tummy ache, playing well, has a girlfriend… I am very grateful for Yappy Hour. She occasionally will put pics on FB. she understands our dogs are our children.
