History

Established in 1953.

In 1953 Gillie Taswell Hyde entered a partnership with Les Moran in his car dealership. At this time their dealership, Moran-​Hyde, only sold Ford and Mercury vehicles. This small chain of vehicles was located in downtown Glasgow, Ky. In the mid-60’s Gillie Hyde bought out his partner, Les Moran. He then started making changes in the dealership to personalize the business. The first change he made was changing the dealership’s name to Gillie Hyde. The second change was the location; he moved the company to 610 Happy Valley Road, where it currently remains. In 1978 his son, Mike Hyde, bought into 25% of the business. This action changed Gillie Hyde into a family business, which it still is today.
