I have tried many times to give this local nail salon the benefit of the doubt, but it is inconsistent at best. A few techs are lovely ladies and do a great job. Others are rude and do a terrible job. In the last few times I have gone here, my toenail was cut so drastically along the side that half of it fell off and took months to grow back, and my cuticles were so butchered during a gel manicure that they bled and ached for days after. I won’t be back, and see no benefit in them expanding to the larger location in the shopping center. Many better options in the area.

Glippity gloppoty glippity gloppoty goo… that about sums up this place. Please see pics of the total disaster that is my nails 3 HOURS after «drying». The woman who did our nails (rhymed w/​Tao had a yucky attitude — eye rolling, talking in foreign language about customer, no drink offered, making nasty faces, etc) has NO CLUE how to correctly apply polish. A Four year old could probably do better. The nail job lasted less than an evening. When polish smears 3 hours after applying, you know something is not right. The owner was also kinda rude and should look into the trickle down effect.
Others I’ve talked to have had the same transient results. You are basically losing time and money just to go home and have to remove your smeared polish.
Will try the place to the left of food lion next time!
As for this lil place in the starbucks complex, Avoid Avoid!

Do not believe in any review which is 4 – 5 stars unless you go and check this out yourself. I had nails done twice. My nails started chipping out and came out in a week time. I called and manager supposed to call me back. After my second call, she called saying ONCE YOU ARE OUT OF MY SHOP, ITS FINAL. WE CAN NOT FIX IT OR GIVE FREE SERVICE. NO MATTER WHAT. I was surprised. I wasted my $ 30 for refill nails. I will not recommend no one to go there.

Whoa! Awesome job for a southern town. Coming from the greatest city, Chicago, I’ve experienced great service and different qualities of products.
The salon is clean, peaceful, not uptight… It’s comfortable. I forgot the technician’s name, but I got the French no chip manicure and it lasted for several weeks. You have got to love French no chip manicures when your nails grow fast. Next time I come back to the area for work, I’ll definitely stop by to get dolled up.

I have been here several times mainly for pedicures. The place is usually pretty busy at weekends so I would recommend an appointment. During the week they can fit in walk in quite easily. The salon has about 12 pedicure stations and 12 manicure stations. They also offer waxing and other services. The staff always offer you something to drink and the pedicure chairs recline and have a massage feature. The place seems clean a basic spa pedicure includes leg and foot massage.
The parking lot is shared with other business including Rico’s tacos and a chiropractor next door so at lunchtime parking can be a challenge.
They offer gels and acrylics and solar nails. My pedicures usually last about 3 weeks unless I do something silly like run a shopping cart into my feet!

So today my daughter went in for a gel manicure before she left for a trip. Her manicurist Helen cut her cuticles (something a manicurist should NEVER do) and caused 2 fingers to full on bleed for the rest of the appointment. Helen did not seem to care as she continued to paint the surrounding nails while putting bandaids around the 2 fingers bleeding and only half painting both of those nails. She told my daughter to come back in a couple days so she can fix it. well she’s leaving for a trip so maybe try and tell the difference between skin and cuticles? This is not the first time this has happened to my daughter there– this is just the worst time it has happened. Helen gave my daughter a small discount– we went back later for a refund because I think this is ridiculous. She left one nail half done and the other looks like a murder scene because she wasn’t patient enough to wait for the nails to stop bleeding… I am never letting my daughter go there again. Helen repeatedly saying «Sorry» doesn’t fix the fact that the cuts are open to infection. I do not suggest going here. Any salon that cuts cuticles and then pours alcohol on them and doesn’t finish the manicure is an awful salon. I highly suggest Royal Nails & Spa in Richmond instead. Luxury Nails & Spa sucks.

Hands downs, does a great full and juicy shellac manicure. I’ve been coming here for 4 years now. The owner, Mimi is very pleasant and runs a well oiled machine. All workers can take care of you regardless of your need, and you will be satisfied! Pedicures are lovely as well with hot stone rocks being used during the massage. Overall, if your looking for awesome gel colors and job well done-​Luxury is the place!

I decided to take a gamble on this place after reading Unilocal reviews and also b/​c its in the same location as my optometrist.
Welp, the sweet mannered tech that worked on me was Lam. Initially the owner quoted me $ 25 for a gel fll in (no color)…However, once in the chair and already in mid prime, Lam informed that the price is going to be $ 35…It was at the point that I decided I would not be getting a Pedi. I just wanted to get my nails did and get out of there. I have serious issues w/​establishments fluffin prices once it’s too late for the customer to bail out. (it was Friday eve at 7:30…I had no other choice)
Anyways, I explain specifically to Lam what I needed done and how finicky I am w/​hen it comes to my nails. And although she SEEMED to understand, I was not happy w/​the finished product. My nails were uneven in length and the final result of the gel was lumpy! I ended up fixin them myself when I got home. I still tipped her (since I got a discount for paying cash… so the that became her tip. Lucky for her b/​c she was so not about to get a dime!)
The salon itself is clean, and all the techs actually speak and understand English (say what??! LOL)
However, the waiting area seating is ridiculous. Literally 4 chairs??? Not a good look… Especially on a Friday! I had to stand for 20 mins until I was seated at the tech’s station.
I also HATE the parking lot situation! Strip mall w/​3 restaurants (Japanese, Mexican, Italian) immediately surrounding this salon so to say «cramped» is an understatement. AND the spaces are way too narrow! Its almost safer to park up the hill at Food Lion and walk down to the salon… but then again, maybe not since you could be playing leap frog in the traffic…
For all the above reasons, I WILL NOT be going back to this Salon! Save your money, and time and yourself a headache, There are plenty of better places in Glen Allen/​West End that are equal and/​or better.

The place is really nice… service is ok. if you live in the area this is the best one around! the mani and pedi are good! however it is not the best in town. In my opinion i love the one in cary town (fusion).

A friend had a gift certificate, and I got dragged along for the ride. She got a pedi, was decently pleased. I got a manicure, it was the worst mani of my life.
I like my nails rounded. For whatever reason, she did not ask what shape, or honor the shape they were already in, and cut them squared. Cut them EXTREMELY SHORT. I now need to grow them out so I can get them fixed.
They are not straight. They are not of even length.
She cut one of my cuticles. Cut it hard. It bled regularly for 24 hours. It’s too soon to know if it will get infected, I’ve been using neosporin 3x a day since the incident.
When she cut my cuticle she did not aplogize. She did not tell me. In fact, she tried to hide it from me (seriously? Like I couldn’t feel it??).
Also, I came in with an overgrown shallac mani, but opted for regular nail polish.
She removed my shellac by FILING IT OFF, then soaking my nails in acetone. When I told her not to, she laughed and said she would soak it. And I reeeeally should have stopped her then – but my friend was in the back, getting her free pedi, so, what was I going to do? stop her, then sit in the front awkwardly for half an hour? But, yes, I looked between the removal and the painting of the new (regular) polish, and, as expected – she totally destroyed the nail beds.
Also, she charged me five bucks to remove the shellac, even tho I was buying a manicure (usually salons only charge if you aren’t getting another mani).
So, to recap, she destroyed my nail beds, cut my nails way too short, unevenly and crookedly, and cut my cuticle extremely badly.
It was the worst manicure of my life – & I couldn’t complain because there is not enough of nails left to fix it.
I get manicures because I can’t cut my nails worth shit, hut, apparently, neither can they. Go somewhere else.

The cut did not end up getting infected, but, now, six months later, a few of my cuticles are still really messed up. this woman was… horrific and i don’t recommend anyone going there. ever. (&i’m not a fussy person, honest!)

I’ve had a life-​long aversion to nail salons, probably on account of all the horror stories you hear about filthy salons where people catch flesh-​eating bacteria. But after visiting this place with a friend before her wedding three years ago, and seeing what a clean, well-​run, affordable nail salon looks like, I’ve turned into a believer and I’ve been coming back regularly. I’m still not a manicure person (although I’ve had them done here and they are wonderful and last pretty long) but I come in semi-​regularly for pedicures and they are always a treat. They have a pretty awesome collection of polishes, and the technicians are all skilled and polite. At some nail places I have been to, you spend half your time leaning over to make sure things are being done correctly so you don’t leave missing a toenail, but at Luxury you can just sit back and feel relaxed! They always have the latest magazines and HGTV on the flatscreen, and the hot stone massage on your legs is enough to make you practically fall asleep! You can feel confident that while you are zoning out, you are getting a killer pedicure. And their prices are some of the best I’ve seen in town! I love this place!

Ok, so I’m not a big manicure/​pedicure at the salon person. I LOVE nail polish, but typically I just paint my own. Seriously, I have a nail polish collection that rivals those found at an actual nail salon (Essie, I should probably own stock in you). But today I joined friends for a girls outing at Luxury to try shellac for the very first time. A bunch of my friends swear by shellac, so I figured it was about time I tried it out for myself.
The salon itself is open, bright and super clean. The manicure seats are split into pairs, with two sets on either side of the room. The reception desk is located front and center, with a row of seats and hand dryers located behind it. The pedicure chairs are towards the back, and I’m assuming the waxing rooms are located past the pedicure area (I didn’t go back there myself). The technician who did my nails was super sweet and didn’t treat me like an idiot for not knowing how to use the UV light machine that hardens the polish. If you’ve never gotten shellac, it’s quite the interesting process — in between each coat of polish you put your hands under a UV light to cure and harden the coat. Then at the end, your nails are sprayed with alcohol, wiped, and voila! No wet nails! That’s seriously the best part — no need to worry about smudging your newly perfect manicure.
It’s $ 28 for shellac, and all purchases are 5% off if you pay by cash or check. I never carry either, so I used credit, but next time maybe I’ll bring some cash money. Yea, yea, 5% isn’t a lot, but every little bit counts, right? Also, they offer frequent visitor punch cards, and after 10 punches you get $ 10 off a service of $ 20 or more.
Since I just got the manicure today, I can’t comment on how well shellac actually holds up. Guess I’ll have to update in 2 weeks!
