Came here quite a few times years ago. It’s just not my scene anymore. Stopped in last week to grab a drink with a friend and we didn’t stay long. First of all you can still smoke inside this bar because they have a separate piano room in the back. It’s been a long time since I’d been in Beach House but walking in I left like not much if anything has changed. It’s a place where you could probably walk in every night of the week and expect to see at least one person you recognize every time. Don’t get my wrong, I’ve had fun nights about at BH in the past but it seems I’m out of the phase. Service on the night we were there was at least speedy. Ultimately we ended up changing locations to another bar that had some better food selection options.

Very college bar like. A little tired inside when it’s a slow night. When crowded on weekends you wouldn’t notice. Good cheap beer. Bartenders were very friendly. I’ve grown past the college atmosphere but if your in your 20s its a popular spot.

I’d rather not give this place any stars. I walked in, the guy at the bar looked at me & then kept talking to the others at the bar. The smell inside was disgusting also, left right on out.

This is an interesting corner of Innsbrooke. The atmosphere is very casual. And the bar itself is small with options for seating around the bar and then several booths in the dance floor portion. The best part of this bar are the karaōke nights and trivia nights. With that said, this place isn’t my cup of tea but it’s good for a quick beer if you don’t want to make it over to Short Pump.

I’m sitting across the restaurant at Thai Flavor. Why? Beach House has a patio. My mom was waiting outside with my 8lb dog so I can go inside and confirm if dogs are allowed on the patio. As I walk to the bar, I think the bartender doesn’t realize the dog is mine. I hear him say to a patron«Fucking dog.» I told him«I heard your comment. So are dogs not allowed or is it just not your preference?» He says«Well they’re allowed on the patio.» Regardless I decided that I wouldn’t want to be in this kind of environment. What a pity. So now I’m at Thai Flavor and the waitress came out, greeted my mom and myself… And my dog. I don’t go to an establishment expecting to give my money, so I can sit there knowing we aren’t really welcome. I only hope he sees my Unilocal review. I’m tempted to go there and take a picture of him to attach here. But I can’t go that low. And by the way, my dog doesn’t bark, is potty trained and will just sit underneath the table until dinner is done. If they’ve been burned with bad behavior in the past the easy solution would be to have a «no dog» policy. Don’t come here. If you do, wonder what they’re saying about you.

So I went out here recently with a friend on a Saturday night. Wanted a bar that had some music and I’ve always heard friends talk about the Beach House, but I never seemed to make it out when they went. When we walked in, I immediately was turned off by the smoking. Smoked filled room completely. I’m guessing they have some tiny section reserved as «non-smoking,» since it’s a VA law that you have to have a separate room & separate ventilation for each if you allow both. However, I did not venture around much while we were here, so I didn’t see that area. The music was ok, a variety mix. Guess this is a great place for smokers, but for non-smokers, not so much. Don’t really see myself returning anytime soon.

Standard bar food but pretty cool atmosphere. When you first walk up, on the left you’ll notice the outdoor area. There’s a few tables for outdoor dining and the entire ground is covered with sand. As for the inside, it’s clean and pretty up to date. They have two bars and a decent sized dining area. The bar to the left is «U» shaped and has hightop tables going around it. In my opinion, that’s where most of the action’s at. The bar to the right is a long«L» shaped bar and to me, it seems like that’s usually the quieter and less crowded area. Inbetween both bars is the main dining area and of course, there are plenty of tv’s throughout the entire place. There’s usually a nice mixed crowd and music is usually top 40’s. However, some nights, they play a little more hip hop and I believe they also have country music/line dancing sometime during the week. One of the best things they offer is flip a coin night, where you pick heads or tales and they shake a quarter in a glass. If you guess it right, you pay .50 cent for ANY drink. If you get it wrong, you pay full price. To add to that, they also do trivia that same night and you can win prizes. So with that said, it’s a pretty unique and fun place. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Not really my vibe. Went with friends. They permit smoking inside(cough). Food seems to be standard bar fare. They seem to always have something going on. When we were there, they had Name that Tune going on. The employees were really friendly, though. (Cough.)

This place is so rough. Bar fights etc. stay far away. The bouncer and manager even went so far as to punch a girl for stupid reason.

quite possibly one of the worst experiences I’ve had in the Richmond area. Met a friend here for some drinks on a Friday evening around 6:30pm. The bartenders here leave a lot to be desired for. Unfriendly, impersonal, and clearly not aware they’re in the service industry. The bar was not super busy, at least not too busy the bar staff wasn’t able to check their phones or talk among each other with little care to bar guests. I waited 25 minutes while my drink was clearly empty sitting at the bar. Eventually the bartender came over, unfortunately do not know her name she failed to introduce herself however I do recall her blue hair. At this point she passively asks if «i’m okay»…

I was expecting different but it was not bad. The restaurant was very cold during my winter visit but the hamburgers were good and the buffalo chicken dip was good.

It’s a bar. That’s it. They do have good specials and events, but the value of those is tied very closely to your interest in smoking. If you do not smoke, you will not enjoy those events and specials. Instead, you will be overtaken by the hazy cloud of lung cancer. If you enjoy smoking, you’re probably fine. For those in the latter group, go on Tuesday nights — trivia was fun. :)

We have visited many Innsbrook restaurants and had put the Beach House on our list seeing the amount of variety on their menu. I have to say that the experience was average at best. Four-top tables in their bar area are small and could barely accommodate four diners. I guess I would call this place a bar first, restaurant second… The service was fine, but the food that I got was not what I ordered exactly. I ordered the fish tacos and I couldn’t decide if the meat was fishy chicken or chickeny fish. My wife soon confirmed that it was indeed fish, although the dryness made condiments necessary. Speaking of which, I also expected mango salsa and sour cream on the tacos, or on the side, but it did not come prepared with that. Instead, I got more of the spicy cole slaw side in the taco instead of the cabbage advertised(I know, cole slaw is made with cabbage, but still…) and a chipotle mayo on the side. When I asked for the salsa, I got a side of it and the sour cream as well«just in case.» OK, thanks. I guess a word to the wise would be to check your order to make sure it is to your specifications.(I’m still wondering about the fish, although being so used to it fried, it was a pleasant surprise to see it grilled instead). With all of the competition for the diner dollar these days, I expect all restaurants to step up and give me a reason to go back and try something. Sadly, the Beach Grill did not give me a reason to want to return. Maybe with more attention to detail in the kitchen and a little more pizzazz in their menu, I will change my mind.

THREE stars for the Dueling Piano Bar and the decent bar food. But minus 2 stars for the rest of the Beach House(and would do more if the pianos weren’t involved in this review). LOVE their Friday and Saturday night dueling piano bar. I prefer the Landon & Pete duo. They were witty, humorous, and knew how to get the crowd going. The drummer Paige completes the perfect trio with her talent, as well as eye candy for all the men in the audience. You could, however, go broke pretty quickly in this place. Make sure to have cash on you if you have song requests. A fun atmosphere for group gatherings like birthdays, but best to make a table reservation. Thankfully, smoking is NOT allowed in the piano bar section. As for the rest of the Beach House, seemed kinda gross to me. Unbelievably smokey(so the perfect place all you chain smokers) and full of um… interesting people. And what I mean by interesting is women in their mid-to late 30/40s on the«prowl» and men looking to pick up such women. It may be an extreme generalization. It’s not my scene, but for those of you who like that… enjoy!

If you are looking for guys wearing ripped t-shirts that expose their copious bodyhair, drunken people who will rub up against you inappropriately, music so loud it makes your teeth hurt, and thick clouds of smoke, this is the bar for you! The beer selection is mediocre and pricy, and the music was so loud you had to scream to hear the person next to you. Definitely not a good place to grab a drink and chat with your buddies. The smoking section is at the front of the bar, so you’ve got to walk through a dense cloud of smoke even if you want to sit in the nonsmoking area. My feelings for this place can be summed up in two words: Why bother?

What an odd place! It’s a bar… in a strip mall… that looks like a beach bar. Madness! I’ve only been here once and that was to see The Keys Dualing Piano Show — which was fairly awesome. Saturday night was a $ 5 cover. Both guys were super friendly and worked hard to make your requests happen… even if they had no idea of how to play the song. The crowd was overall sloshy and enthusiastic, singing along loudly with much encouragement from the pianists. All the staff was really friendly. The back room for the pianos is huge and seems like a fun venue to rent out or reserve for a birthday. If you have a DD, it’s a fun escape from the city for a random sing-a-long evening. With the closure of Liberty Valance, perhaps a good Saturday night karaōke surrogate?

Went one Sunday night for a drink and dinner with my girlfriend. I enjoyed it very much and the food turned out pretty good. Also, waitstaff was very friendly. Another time, I took a buddy from outta town one Friday night. Was super packed around the bar area and pretty much hopping. The one male bartender was really unfriendly and didn’t mention to me that he started a tab in my name, even though I told him to close out the check after that beer. Didn’t find out to another bar tender tried to run my card and told me I already had a tab. I would’ve been charged extra for my tip if would’ve walked out without closing my tab. However, I would probably come back.

The Beach House… let me grab my boat shoes. The age group varies from 20 something year olds all the way up to grandpa and grandma, but the majority of the crowd is white. Most attractive women are accompanied by their boyfriend or they’re sucking down cigarettes, sorry single guys. Drinks are fairly prices, comfortable chilling atmosphere, and usually an acoustic band playing. The outside patio is a nice feature though. I think it might be difficult to meet someone new or have a one night stand out of this place. However, given the options in the West End, there’s not much to it. No cover on Friday night when I went, cheap beer, don’t have to worry about being stabbed or mugged in the parking lot. I just wish the crowd was more within the 20 – 30 year old age group… I think I saw my uncle in there while I was macking…

The Beach House Bar & Grille is a fun place to hang out in the West End. It’s the only place in Richmond to offer dueling piano shows. Here there’s a free one on Thursday, and there’s a $ 6.99 cover on Friday and a $ 7.99 cover on Saturday. The dueling pianos are the same as any Howl at the Moon where you throw out tips and your song requests, but it’s a fun alternative to the typical bar scene. If you go a lot you can also purchase a $ 50VIP pass that gets you and one guest into unlimited piano shows for a year. Along with the piano bar, there’s a big regular bar and patio. Karaōke takes place on Monday nights and there’s a DJ on Wednesday. Happy hour runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The décor is Caribbean inspired as is the menu, which is available nightly until 1 a.m. It’s a great place for big groups to hang out.
