History
Established in 1933.
Planned Parenthood of Nassau County (PPNC) is the only private, non-profit family planning agency in western Long Island. It was founded in 1933 by a group of women volunteers from Locust Valley who were committed to helping other women who wanted to prevent unwanted pregnancy and make decisions about the size of their own families.
Over eighty years later, PPNC has evolved into a full-scale health care, counseling and education service organization that reaches out to individuals across ages, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. PPNC provides high quality, affordable, comprehensive reproductive and primary health care and counseling services; sexuality education and training programs to teens, young adults, parents and professionals; and leadership and advocacy for public policies that preserve choice and guarantee individual rights. We believe that, taken together, these efforts strengthen families and improve the quality of life in our communities.
