Cheveux Salon & Day Spa

I first visited Cheveux a few weeks ago for a massage and a facial (Happy Birthday to me!). While I was there, I decided to inquire about getting a haircut and color. I had tried two other salons in town and was not happy with the results (and it’s quite awful to walk around for months with a bad hair day!). A few stylists were recommended and I made an appointment with Amanda. She spent time understanding what my hair «issues» were and made a few suggestions. Both the cut and color are great, and I’m happy to have finally found a salon that is close to home.

I went to this salon for the first time the night before my wedding as a treat from my girl friends. The staff was very friendly and made our experience so much fun.
One of my friends wasn’t happy with how her manicure turned out, though. She said she felt like the girl was in a rush to leave for the night and didn’t do a very good no-​chip manicure and it was already starting to chip just a day later because of the way it was done. I loved my nail tech and the job she did, though. The pedicure chairs seemed to be a little dated and I was surprised by how much fluorescent lighting they had for a place bearing the «spa» name, but I’m willing to give up a lot in ambience if the staff is likable.

It’s so hard finding a GREAT salon these days. I usually leave disappointed or with the exact same hair color.
I went to Alex and she did an amazing job! I used box dye on my hair which is always a nightmare to get out. Alex had no problem! I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my hair and she came up with fun ideas and helped me decide. I have her creativity to thank for all the compliments I have been getting. I went a rich, dark auburn with peek-​a-​boo highlights strewn throughout. She blended them in really well so they look more natural and elegant rather than huge stripes and chunks. She is also the BEST at styling! She made loose, romantic waves in my hair which I loved! Everyone is super sweet there and I am totally going back any chance I get! I recommend going to Alex!

I get eyelash extensions with Rebecca and she is awesome! She is always on time, super professional and does a phenomenal job. I’ve been to other places for this service and no one does a better job than she does! I only need a fill every 2 – 3 weeks because the eyelashes stay on so well. They are full and beautiful and yet look natural. People always compliment me on my lashes and are surprised when I tell them they are extensions because she does such an awesome job. I love this place and would recommend Rebecca to anyone!

This review is for the massages with Tetyana. She is THE BEST massage therapist.
About four or five years ago I used to see her a couple of times a year. I was impressed then but then I changed jobs and couldn’t afford to keep going. Then I got out of the habit and had massages on vacation or with Groupons. Now I can say with much experience that Tetyana is THE BEST. Truly.
Tetyana’s personality is great– she’s funny and kind and caring and very in tune. She is very professional too. She makes sure you are comfortable and makes sure the amount of pressure is what you like and need. Her massages can be very firm which is what I tend to like. I have a lot of back and shoulder pain and like it when my massages are productive– that’s what I call it– when I feel like my pain is really being worked on and through. However I have never had anyone give me a «productive» massage that was still relaxing! I seriously left feeling very relaxed even though I know I will probably be a little sore for a few days as I get better– I have no idea how she is able to do both. Truly amazing. She is very thorough and will work on the troubled areas while still giving you a full body massage. She seems to work areas others ignore, like your head and ears or something like that that just feels great.
Tetyana truly knows what she is doing. Her hours are limited so plan ahead. It is definitely worth it. I will not forget that I don’t need to ever try anyone else– she’s the one I want to see and it is worth every penny!

I knew that Cheveux was an Ouidad salon so when I came across a Groupon for a cut and color I was in like Flynn.
The place is laid out quite nicely. Hair in the front, massages and nails in the back.
My appointment was with Michelle. When I got there, we sat and discussed my color options. I have been pretty happy in the family of reds so she mixed a red burgundy with a scarlet. I was absolutely horrified as I watched her put the color on. It went on my hair carrot orange! What the hell? I am a little bit freaked out — ok, a lot. But Michelle kept me chatting and it really got my mind away from the strange color on my head. After applying, Michelle sent me to sit under a misting type helmet. It was similar to a blow dry but with steam and heat. This was supposed to seal in the color. Much to my relief, the rinse showed that my hair was just the color I wanted. Michelle informed me that she had used an organic dye that always looks different on and tends to fade slower.
I was given the option of upgrading to the Ouidad cut. I chose against it. That being said, the curly girl that works there had fabulous curls! Michelle angle cut my hair and added some layers so that when I go curly, the curls will lay nicely. Not a fan of pyramid head, I happily let her do this!
The whole thing turned out great! It has been 2+ weeks and my color has barely faded.

It was a waste of my time and money. I was paired with a woman who supposedly dyed my hair red but I came out looking exactly the same! No color except for the little bit that came off during my shower. What a waste!

well, i only give 2 stars b/​c i can’t really notice a difference in my hair. First of all, i suppose the reason things didn’t turn out to be ⁴⁄₅ star worthy is b/​c the appt started ½ hour late.
I would come back w/​another groupon and if i didn’t have other appointments to keep.
I specifically told them when i booked i needed to be done by a certain time, and they said come in, we’ll take a look, see if we can make it happen. I guess they didn’t.
Despite the service, the hair was finally done well

She has helped me with my curly head of hair from the first appointment!
Between explaining everything in FULL DETAIL about what curly heads need, helping me understand what OUIDAD products to use and when… I cannot say enough.
The signature OUDIAD cut helps maintain some sort of control on this mop of mine =) I have had 2 cuts with her and am very pleased with her.
I highly rec any of you curly girls out there to give Cheveux and ESPECIALLY Jennifer J a try!

I was so excited to learn that this salon is Ouidad certified! I came three times prior to my Ouidad appointment to get my highlights and hair color done with a different stylist – kind of to test the waters. The team is super curteous, the salon is simple but well equipped.
The hair color stylist did a great job and was able to accommodate my requests for adjustments to the strength of the color due to my sensitive scalp.
When I came in for the special (pricey but worth it) Ouidad haircut and style it was quite a learning experience. The first Ouidad hair cut I had was nice, and very styling intensive. I found out I should wait between four to six months (!) for my next haircut. The hair needs to return to its original wave/​curl pattern with help from the haircut technique and products.
My hair gets knotted quite easily, but I followed my stylists’ suggestions. The second time I came to get my hair cut, my stylist was overbooked and suffering from the worst cold ever. So I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time to get my haircut. She’s really great at what she does, and just a super person to get to know.
I loved my hair after these styling technique and hair cuts, but I wasn’t used to having such long hair, and the cuts and products were really too expensive for my budget. That’s why I stopped going.
The staff and the salon are top notch and remain one of my favorites in the Western Suburbs. In a great, walkable downtown GE area.
Overall I would say the Ouidad haircut is worth it, especially at this salon. The staff is very nice. The hair color brand they use might be a little harsh for me, but the stylist who did my hair was an expert colorist so I had good results.

Very happy with the services at Cheveux, particularly stylist Cheryl. I have followed her to various salons (STILL book with her even though I have moved to Wisconsin — but frequently visit Chicago area). Her color techniques are the best, I’ve tried other stylists closer to home and there is no comparison. She always takes the time to listen to my needs and she knows the science of color which is an important part of the process. My last visit I had a Brazilian Blowout and was so impressed with the results (which have lasted almost 6 months) that I am going in for another soon. The salon is clean, friendly, and easily accessible. Ask for Cheryl, you won’t be disappointed!

My lovely wife gave me the gift of my first facial. I’m not a chick but I began to understand the spa experience and the attraction to it.
Nicole was very helpful and pleasant.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Between the friendly staff, free parking, excellent services, and clean facility, what more could you ask for?
The first time I went here was for a facial. I can say that I’ve been back numerous times for more facials, eye lash tinting, brow waxing, manicures and pedicures.
The owner (Kathy) is usually there and she is very welcoming a well. I’ve had the privilege to work with Nicole, one of their estheticians, and she is absolutely wonderful. She listens to what you want and makes the experience very relaxing. I’ll definitely be going back time and time again.

This review is specifically for their massage treatments. I tend to have a lot of knots in my back, so I will splurge on a massage whenever I can. I live in the city now, and even though I’ve tried a ton of different places, Tetyana at Cheveux is still by far the absolute best, and I will drive out to Glen Ellyn just for a massage. She is amazing.
Beyond that, the rest of the staff is nice, parking is easy (and free!), and the massages are pretty reasonable (I think they now are $ 65 for a 1 hour Swedish).
