Jeff Valentine – State Farm Insurance Agent

The other two reviewers are nuts! Jeff is a great guy to work with. Obviously things like insurance vary in price. After shopping around, Jeff gave me the best deal and most coverage on auto insurance. State Farm provides great coverage at a great price. I’m a pretty new customer with him, but I’ll definitely stay, he’s a pleasure to work with!

Buyer beware! I was a customer with State Farm for 10 years, as a driver within my family’s home, and later signed up for 2 years of renter’s insurance. I didn’t get a chance to write this review when this happened so I wanted to make sure to finally get it posted.
I moved out of my parents home and decided to switch my insurance to Geico, since I’ve never had an accident and am young. I had moved to the city– and was paying extra for being associated with a home with an 18 year old and 19 year old driver. I wanted to go with something that fit my needs at a lower cost. I tried to cancel and the front desk got me on the phone with Jeff who tried to convince me of all the reasons I needed to stay with State Farm (fine– he’s trying to keep a customer, no big deal).
I continued to express that I don’t need such high levels of insurance on my renter’s policy, and that I barely drive my car. Jeff then went into reasoning that made me an unhappy customer who will never work with State Farm again.
1) he told me that he had spoken to my father last week and that he had requested information from their office as well. Um, Jeff– my dad died five years ago. Can you get me on the phone with him, I’d love to talk with him! He was referring to my stepfather– who was very new to the policy– my father who passed away was the one who dealt with Jeff for years. This goes to show that Jeff’s entire point to why I shouldn’t switch to Geico (I wouldn’t get a personal agent who knew my family and situation) is garbage. He has no idea about his customers!
After FORTY FIVE MINUTES of badgering Jeff to cancel all of my policies, he finally did. I received no email confirmation, nor a thank you for being a customer for 10 plus years. He just told me I was making a mistake and would regret it when Geico drops me for a future accident.
I have saved over $ 400 a year switching to Geico and my new policy fits my insurance needs perfectly.
The best part of it all? I received continuous calls and even a BILL from State Farm two months later— telling me that my renter’s policy had lapsed and to call to renew. Are you kidding me? How do they manage their office there? Apparently no one is keeping records of who talks to who, and who is canceling what.
I am glad to be done with State Farm and Jeff Valentine’s office.

Unprofessional and nasty — I am taking the time to write this because there are other State Farm choices near by and they are all infinitely better than this agent. Our issue involved jacking up our auto rates 200%, not telling us, and giving us a really hard time when we cancelled. I have pages of e-​mails from the owner, who really should be too busy to send three page e-​mails to anyone. Perhaps they have lost customers this year-​not sure — but I strongly suggest seeking another State Farm Agent and avoiding this guy.
