24 Hour Fitness

Went there last night wanting to buy a membership and the guy in charge told me that the system was down and I understand but I told him if I could check inside the building and see how the gym looks and he said no I don’t think it’s something wrong with just wanting to see the machines and everything else and asked information about pricing and everything and he told me to come back the next day

I went to this gym a couple times to try it out. I usually go to the 24 hour super sport down the street, but I decided to have a look at this one. It is clean, and nice, but significantly smaller. For that reason, I am glad I paid a bit extra for the super sport membership

This gym was pretty disappointing. The equipment were old and of course all the weights were spread out. I really wouldn’t recommend this gym.

I’ve been to many different gyms and used them temporarily due to constantly moving around and changing locations (due to work, school, etc.) so best believe I’ve interacted with plenty of Sales employees at the gym.
I used the free 24hr trial membership at Glendale’s location and I’ve never been happier with the interaction and service I got from Clayton Ferguson (though he was «Clark Kent» during their superhero theme day, which was really cute and fun!). Clayton was very friendly and did not have the typical Sales-​type of personality (you know, the in-​your-​face «SIGN UP NOW» I-​have-​a-​great-​deal-​for-​you) that you usually see from gym managers/​employees. He was very personable and actually wanted to know my fitness goals, my background of where I’m from and what brought me to the 24 hour fitness.
I was expecting a call back from him (or any other Sales reps) immediately 3 days after my trial period ended but he actually called ~2 weeks later which to me was really awesome. I really hate Sales employees who are 100% there for the money and commission, not even for a member’s fitness goals or personal life.
Truly from the bottom of my fitness heart, I give 5 stars for Clayton’s service to new members. Thank you for your friendliness and understanding of your new/​old members.
For the club itself, though there isn’t a garage to park (I luckily landed a 2 hour parking spot), the facility is the typical 24hr fitness quality, I’d say. Their mirror room was pretty spacious though. I wasn’t expecting a 5-​star facility (it’s not like it’s Equinox: P) so once you finish your workout, enjoy the rest of your day/​night!

*Many machines broken down and it takes months to get them repaired.
*No a/​c or air circulation. Extremely hot during summer. There are occasional days once or twice a quarter when the AC is operating, which makes me wonder if someone from corporate is visiting.
*Roof leaks whenever it rains. I’m not kidding, it leaks everywhere! I would schedule a tour of this facility when it rains. It’s a beautiful sight to see trash-​cans spread out everywhere to capture the rain. Oh and don’t forget to keep an eye out for the yellow tape around the trash cans, to make sure you don’t slip and fall.
*Very few people carry towels, so the result is sweaty equipment that no one seems to wipe after use. Bring your lysol wipes or other disinfectant.
*Paper towels frequently run out and employees are slow to refill. The only employee that actually does his job is a guy by the name of Fred. You know Fred’s there when the paper towels are restocked and the soap dispensers in the restrooms are filled.
*Horrible customer service by many of the employees. They seem to believe you are doing them a favor by paying to use this gym and keeping them employed.
*Parking lot adjacent to the gym is for pay ($.25 for 20 min), but that’s not the gym’s fault.
*Only good thing is that one of the new managers has finally started enforcing the «NO BACKPACKS» on the gym floor rule. In the past, you would see backpacks everywhere! People would use them to «reserve» equipment and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few pieces of equipment (pins, weights, etc) accidentally «fell» into some of those backpacks. The gym does look cleaner and more spacious now that this rule is enforced.
*Most customers are nice and friendly.
*I would not come here if I could afford to trade up to Sport, or if I could quickly get to other Active gyms in LA.
*As a side note, it looks like 24hrs is forcing people to upgrade their memberships by converting most gyms to Super Sports. Has anyone noticed that?

I recently got a tour of this place… it’s gross! Im surprised that the gyms in Glendale are so bad since. it’s such a nice city… the sales manager (a female) at this. location was uper pushy and loud and wasn’t very focused on me while I sat infront of her she stopped 4 times in about ten minutes or less to chat it up with members who were walking by im cool with being friendly but give ur undivided attention when conducting business… just annoying. She got an attitude because I didnt join.

I go here because i get what needs to be done!
BUT, the gym itself is not pleasing to the eyes, very small, machines are really old, and you have to pay for parking.

Half the machines don’t work and it seems like there’s no central A/​C? I feel like I’m dying when I’m doing cardio but I guess the lack of air circulation makes you sweat more… so that’s a good thing… right? I barely started coming to this location and seriously no body wipes down the machines after they use it.
I hate the lack of parking (and the fact you have to pay to park). I’ve been spoiled by the 24 hr active in Monrovia. *sad face*

It’s small, not super clean, but it has everything you need (well mostly) and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Parking you gotta pay meter unless you park at Sears about a block and ½ away. It’s open 24 hours which is nice if you need that.
I have nothing bad to say, I prefer the other one 2 blocks north as it tends to be cleaner, it’s way bigger and the staff are nice there too but most importantly they have EVERYTHING /​machine etc and more weights to work with so you don’t have to really wait. :) Also parking is only 50 cents for hour and half with validation :)

I love this 24 active club, there is a 24 super sport literally a block down but I choose to go to this one. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I’ve never had an issue with the equipment, however, if there was one thing I could add to this club it would be WiFi. There is no reception in there, so you would have to rule out Pandora or Spotify for music. Again, this club is great. You get in, you get out, it has a sauna and parking is behind the gym.

They have the worst customers service ever, I closed my account there but they still deduct money from my account, it happened 3 times, the first and 2^nd time that they deduct 40 $, I went there and I told them but no answer and it’s a month and a half I haven’t got my money back yet. they only said we’re gonna contact you. But not only they didn’t cobtact me but also they deduct 30 $ from my account for 3^rd time.

I have no idea whats wrong with 24 Hours in LA but management needs to step up their game in ensuring maintenance and the over hygiene of this place up to date.
They’re leaks coming from the roofs, a guy sleeping in the yoga room, water on the floor. By far one of the worst 24’s Ive been too.
You go over to orange county facilities and they are all clean and up to date. Just realized this is an «active» club. I thought I was going to the super sport. But still I don’t get how this active club is open 24 hours and the super sport closes early, just noticed. If your paying more for a super sport don’t you think, members should be getting what they pay for, which is more?
Other than that, this place does have the equipment if you just need a place to work out.

I don’t frequent this location, but, from what I remember, it has improved. I think the place is cleaner now. They upgraded some of their cardio machines. I probably will start coming here more often when I don’t feel like driving all the way to Altadena.

I originally signed up with 24 hour when the nearest facility to me was the Altadena location, which is always pristine, carry’s new equipment and has a very likable staff. Once I moved, Glendale became the closest facility to me. This location has a lot of old, broken equipment, the bathrooms are often dirty with toilet paper thrown freely and the classes are just okay. Also, the AC almost never works, but they do have fans that work enough to create an air flow. Lisa teaching is a fantastic yoga instructor, however she is no longer there.
With that being said, I called customer service today to cancel my membership. I let them know I felt I’ve exhausted all my options in house to address the issues I had with the gyms status. Very coldly they responded with I am bound to their contract and there is No.Way.Out. Its honestly upsetting that they don’t have to hold their end up of the bargain. Never again, I should have known better. I joined a yoga studio in Highland Park, although I am much happier it’s unfortunate I have to continue paying for a gym that doesn’t live up to the standards they promote.
I’d recommend looking into privately owned fitness clubs in your area. It may be better value for your money.

It was my first time trying out this gym and it was good, there is enough equipment to go around for everyone, but the only thing that I was really looking for is the sauna. I couldn’t find any sauna there so it sucks that they dnt have sauna.

Been a member for about 11 yrs now… it’s not the best and boy don’t make a mistake coming in on weekdays starting at 5pm on… it’s super busy no parking, no machines, no equipments available. But like the other Unilocaler said you just come cuz you’re used to it. But I do remember this place pre-​remodeled, and I it’s much better today.

If I could rate the staff at this gym a –1 star I definitely would. I’m Australian here on a F1 visa and wanted to join a gym. This one was perfect, close by and in my price range so I figured I would sign up for the free trial. I showed up tonight to test the gym out only to be told that the gym doesn’t ‘accept’ free trials for those who don’t own a Californian drivers license. We showed the staff member our Australian License and student cards from our college, which wasn’t enough.
Firstly, myself and my partner aren’t allowed to drive here for another two years as a requirement of our Visa, which we explained to the staff member working at the reception desk. Secondly, not everyone in California has a license! What a ridiculous system you have going on! I will be taking my money elsewhere.

I joined up because my girlfriend and I are doing a six-​week body transformation challenge, and you can’t transform shit while sitting at home on your ass. I was surprised how decent this place is after hearing so many horror stories about it. There are plenty of machines to go around for everyone. Staff are friendly and kind. Only gripe is that the free weight room is crowded, but I doubt that’s unique to this gym.
Pro tip: go early in the morning. We go at like 6 a.m., and it’s super not crowded. If you go after work, you’ll have to suffer with all the other people there who wish they went in the morning. At least Wheel of Fortune will be on TV while you use the elliptical machine.

I’ve been coming here for the past 12 years and it’s one of the last true 24 hour fitnesses. Yes – it’s actually open 24 hours as its name suggests… so no, it doesn’t close at 10 or 11pm.
The staff is very friendly and the gym has everything you can ask for. If your looking for something fancy then this is probably not the gym for you.

Come on guys, it’s not THAT bad. Sure this location is dingy and the bathrooms aren’t the cleanest, but weirdly enough I prefer this location over Monterey Park, Pasadena, or Arcadia for the following reasons:
–I never have to wait for a machine, even during peak hours.
–Staff has been friendly enough without making me feel uncomfortable (I like my gym time to be «me» time not «coerced-​into-​yet-​another-​fitness-​orientation-​to-​try-​to-​sell-​me-​a-​personal-​trainer time. (I’m looking at you Monterey Park).
–The machines I want to use are always in working order
–I get enough reception to stream Netflix on my phone
–parking is free on weekends and free for 90 minutes across the street.
Basically, if you’re just coming to get a quick cardio workout I think you’ll be just fine here. If you’re looking for amenities or atmosphere, you’re better off poaching machines at Monterey Park or Arcadia, or pay an extra $ 20 a month for additional perks up the street.
