Arizona State University West Campus

Was not happy with the campus or the staff. Transferred to NAU.

Drove 25 miles, through rush hour traffic, to attend a Veteran’s Open House advertised to operate from 3−6P. I pre-​registered for the event on Eventbrite (I downloaded the ‘ticket’). I knew I wouldn’t arrive until approximately 5P so I searched the Eventbrite posting for a phone number to ascertain the value of the time, effort, and cost (gas) to attend. No phone number was available. I resolved to follow through (sadly). I am vexed to discover that despite my arriving around 4:50P several of the display tables had already dismantled or were in the process of dismantling. (Again, the event is posted on Eventbrite to continue through 5P.)
That deserves the loss of two stars. They get three stars for the effort of those who were steadfast.

Graduated from ASU West in May of 2013. All the resources of a large public school but the West Campus feels much like a private liberal arts college. Very small classes, many opportunities to connect with faculty, lots of options to work on campus and a new multi-​million dollar gym finished in 2013. Highly recommend ASU West.

Of course I am going to say how awesome the west campus is at A.S.U!!!

I still love this campus BUT I do agree with the angry person that if you want the quintessential party college experience, this campus (and Poly) are not for you.
This is like a liberal arts college in that most of the classes are less than 30 people, some have up to 100 but it’s not large lecture style like Tempe and other universities.
If you don’t care about partying and you live in NW Phoenix then this school is AWESOME!

I graduated a few years back and can say that, when compared to the Tempe campus, the West campus wins easily. The fewer students here makes it easier to pay attention in class, understand what’s going on, and actually have a chance at asking questions to your professors. There is no worrying about the professor seeing you (compared to the 100 courses at the Main Campus). Overall, the smaller campus makes it a more personal experience. It was a nice place while it lasted.

This place is HORRIBLE. Maybe if you live around the area and your are just taking classes for the day its okay but if you get sucked into living here AND going to school here you will get robbed of your college experience and have a horrid time unless your a loser to begin with. The CA’s (community assistance) are 90% all nazis, because they will call the police for the most minor of offences.(no exaggeration) and enjoy doing it. I heard this quote once «smart enough to follow and listen to directions, but stupid enough to think that is the right thing to do» probably defines them. Anyways, if you are an incoming freshmen and your reading this heath my warning. Even downtown is better then here. You have been warned!

Great school. I was in the English major, also took a Capoeira class here. Only good experiences.

I attended here both for my undergrad and grad degrees, and this fall I will be attending as an instructor. I recommend this school (and specifically this campus) to every college-​bound person I know. The small campus and classes allows for a very personalized education. You always have access to your instructors, and all of them are very personable and friendly. There’s a gym, a cafeteria, a starbucks (of course), a graduate study lounge… everything you need for the complete college experience.
I would highly recommended not underestimating the promptness of the parking meter employees.

If you’ve been to the Tempe campus and transferred to ASU West. I guarantee you will love it!
Parking– less expensive and way closer to campus. Lot 59 anyone? I don’t think so. Lot 20 for me please. AND solar panels building up. Woot woot!
Class size– smaller and you don’t have to deal with the frats/​sororities hype as much-​not that they don’t exist at West. PHEW! No, I’m not hating… it is just my preference. (I hope my frat friends aren’t reading this.) Most of the professor I met at West seem to genuinely care more about their students. Maybe due to smaller population of students? Whatever it is, I like it.
Population– I love the fact that I don’t have to be on the look out for distraught students on their bicycle rushing to the next class and run me over (happened to someone I know), or being stomped on because I’m a shortie, or getting hit by skateboards. Something always hold me back from stepping out of classrooms or lecture halls at tempe for fear that someone or something might run me over.
Communication: With a smaller population come better and effective communication between students and services at West. I don’t ever remember getting transferred around when calling the West campus. Tempe on the other hand was a disaster. You’re paying big bucks to go to school at least give you some decent service right?
One thing I’d like to know about West is… what is that strange noise that I often hear when I’m at Fletcher?
If you like a quiet campus with a smaller population-​= more services for you– then West is the place. If not, stay at Tempe campus because I like the small population at West.

I went to see a play at center stage west on campus and it was awesome!

Here’s the deal: You get the resources of a major university, the coziness of a small liberal arts college, and great weather/​atmosphere, with SUPER profs. It beats Tempe everyday.

This is where it all started for me.
ASU west was the foundation for my college education and I really enjoyed the size of the campus (not as big or chaotic as Tempe) and how they focused on the well-​being of the student. Here the offices always knew what was going on in other departments and things didn’t get lost in the shuffle. If I could have attended this ASU campus for all 4 years i would have.
