I have been going to these guys for many years. There is no secret to that fact that one needs to find an independent service organization for ones Beamer to avoid the unfortunately high prices that BMW dealers charge. The key is finding a group of real pros who know all the ins and outs of BMW’s and can also provide alternatives for older cars, such as rebuilt components when appropriate
I was even able to contact them with a roadside emergency after hours and arranged to drop the car off around the corner at a safe location for them to work on the next morning.
I have a classic 2002 M-​5 manual with 135K miles, which with Avus support, I plan to drive for many more years.

One of the worst experiences that caused my car to be completely nonoperational. Sold me on a major floor repair job for my e46 M3 and walked away from any responsibility when the floor of my car separated with gaps as large as my hand across the entire floor, right where my child sat, several months after the repair. True, the car was in a rear-​end collision after the floor repair at Avus, but because their job was so botched, the areas they «reinforced» caused other parts of the floor to split. After inspecting the car, both my insurance company and BMW of NA determined the cause for the floor separation was the repair at Avus, and not the accident. Throughout this process Andrew talked a big game of doing anything to make me, as their valued customer, happy and paying us a fair market value for the car. Well, when BMW produced their findings, Andrew tried to lowball me with a blue book value for the car and did not stand behind his word at all. I am, a year after this botched job at Avus, is still stuck without my car. Never go here for any major work! Dealership or another shop (M Shop) would do better work and stand behind it.

After ditching the dealership and trying a couple places closer to my home in Eagle Rock, this is where I have landed to care for my 2007 335i (even though it is a little farther away).
Upkeep of a BMW is not cheap. It won’t be anywhere. So I need a place that offers competitive prices within the realm of possibilities. Avus does this and meets other key requirements:
— will take me the same day
— has parts on hand
— usually finishes work within the same day
— professional, friendly service that makes the effort to know me and my car
— clear advice
— discussions of: what is necessary for safety; what needs to be done; what can wait; and how waiting might impact the safety, performance, and longevity of the car.
Avus has always been very up front with me. Once, when my car needed something particularly and painfully pricy, they called up other shops and a dealership to give me comparison prices.
I am always a little sore when my car needs repairs. Avus makes the experience a little better — and maintaining this car is cheaper than making car payments.

I don’t understand the big fuss about this place. I just received price quotes from them on 5 different maintenence jobs for my 335i and X3 and they basically charge the same rates as the dealer (e.g. $ 755 for a brake job). Why would I not use Pacific BMW down the street and get a loaner car too.

Impressive. Customer service very good, very prompt returning phone calls, providing estimates and updates, etc. These people love what they do… they are auto racers and collectors. If you want to get a car in tip-​top shape, go to Avus, but… expect to pay.

The gang at Avus have all the expertise, experience and willingness to accommodate their customers’ needs. I have never found another shop that would go to these levels to exceed expectations. I send all my BMW friends over here.

Great place, took my E60 M5 in to fix a rough idle, done within 4 hours and price is good. Will be back for more services

I had my first interaction with Avus this week to do a pre-​purchase inspection on an E46 M3, and I was blown away by their customer service and BMW knowledge.
First, Amir was kind enough to get me in for a pre-​purchase inspection with less than 3 hours notice. I was desperate, and he came through.
Second, Ruben performed the inspection and essentially saved me from making a terribly expensive mistake. He found all sorts of issues with the vehicle that I missed in my own review of the car. He was even kind enough to walk me around the vehicle and point out all of the items on his list — something I particularly appreciated as an enthusiast who is trying to learn more about these vehicles.
Much appreciated. Highly recommended.

EXCELLENT SERVICE, CLEAN SHOP, DINAN-​APPROVED.
These guys did a Dinan Stage 1 suspension upgrade on my 2013 1-​series and an oil and filter change upon break-​in (1300+ miles). Completely agree that BMW maintenance schedule is not comprehensive if you own your car — it’s really for leases. Glad I found a shop that did the maintenance using genuine BMW parts at a price lower than the dealer.
All work performed to a high standard and in the time promised. Since I left the car overnight, there is an Enterprise Rent-​A-​Car a couple miles away that came to pick me up and drop me off. The shop is enclosed and secure, so no worries about the safety of your car.
Amir is knowledgeable about BMWs and Minis and the performance parts. For example, he knew the 1-​series has crazy wheel offsets and very few wheel manufacturers make wheels that will work right out of the box. These guys are honest in telling which upgrades will make a difference and which will make less of a difference.
Will be bringing my car in for regular maintenance and use these guys for upgrades (wheels, tires, sway bars).

Amir and his crew are TOP NOTCH. I took my ’06 E46 M3 to these guys for as short shifter install, and they did a fantastic job. They also found all the repair work that needed to be done that my previous mechanic failed to discover (or was too lazy to do). They worked the magic with my warranty company and got every possible penny. I know I’ll be trusting my car to these guys going forward– they pay meticulous attention to detail and are pros at what they do. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Took my ’08 Mini Cooper S in for the first time EARLY today because I needed my breaks fixed. I loved how fast it all took, about two hours. I do recommend getting there when they open at eight am. Upon checking out I was given suggestions on future repairs but I didn’t feel rushed or forced on any of them! My only disappointment was the bill. Womp womp! I suggest getting a second price opinion.

I came here after Pep Boys messed up my battery and I’ve been a loyal customer since. The guys are very approachable and honest. They cost more than Pep Boys but totally worth it.

First of all two words, CUSTOMER SERVICE! The first time I brought my car to them I spoke with Andrew right when they were closing. Not only did he keep the shop open and wait for me, he even offered to come to where I was if needed. I got a call from him early the next day explaining what was going on and they had my M3 back to me that night in better condition than when I bought it! Every other time I’ve brought the car in they have gone above and beyond to make sure everything is right. I couldn’t recommend them more. Amir will make sure you know exactly what’s going and how long everything will take and the techs usually have it done sooner. The shop is immaculate, they’re beyond professional and will make sure you know exactly what needs to be done and why. If you care about your vehicle then don’t take it anywhere else.

These guys are awesome, true BMW specialists and they are very serious with their work. The shop was really clean, and i mean really clean as in military standard. I loved the service and honesty and will definitely be back when I need it.
I recently bought a 2004 E46 330ci zhp with dinan 3 package. I’m usually the guy that make mechanical repairs and modifications myself, but because I just moved to the US from Europe I simply didn’t have time, equipment and the place to do it.
The car needed the inspection II, new tires which was replaced next door during the time Avus worked on the car and when the car was up on the lift I decided to change some other parts they suggested me to change. How do I know that they’re honest? when the car was up on the lift they showed me everything under the car that needed to be changed and because I have the knowledge about these cars I knew that they were telling me the truth.
the repair and service went fast, dropped the car at Friday afternoon and picked it up on Saturday afternoon and they even replaced some other wear and tear parts for free without telling me which I was very happy with. The car completely changed characteristics after the service, it got much quieter and is like new when going over bumps and uneven surfaces. it simply runs like new!

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Avus over the last 3+ years. I’m sure they’re not the cheapest. So what? They’re honest. They’re fast. They’re clean. They’re not pushy. They do excellent work. All of these are more important to me than saving a few bucks. Anyways, if you wanted to save money, why are you driving a BMW?

Here goes my first Unilocal review.
I haven’t been coming to these guys for very long. Only to get my Dinan software re-​uploaded (they’re a Dinan shop) onto my e46 m3, after BMW wiped it out the first time when they did the DME emissions recall. A second time, after I did an smg to manual transmission swap. And the third time (that’s today), after I uploaded a crap custom tune, making 15 whp/​5 wtq less than the Dinan tune.
Let me just say. Their service is above and beyond. Amir’s a great guy to deal with, and the guys at Avus are very professional, with extensive knowledge of bmw’s.
Come here for all your bmw/​mini needs. There’s no doubt I’ll be returning for more work in the future.

If I were allowed to rate this shop with 6 stars, I would argue for 7. This shop truly is as good as it gets.
The customer service from Andrew and the Team is exceptional. The pride of workmanship and years of experience is evident from the moment you enter; The shop is meticulously organized. No time was lost with either locating or resolving the issue with my MINI; I was back on the road in no time at all. Its difficult to argue with that level of competency and dedication. To add to that, I was a new customer and yet I was treated like a close friend. The courtesy and attention and professionalism that I experienced with the Team is worthy of the highest praises. I highly recommend this Team for all of your mechanical needs. Now my MINI runs at top form and I owe it all to the Avus crew.
I may have mis-​spoken earlier by using the term exceptional, this Team of professionals is «exemplary». Excellent job gentlemen, keep up the good work!

Do not bring your car here!
About a year ago my BMW started making this incredibly loud, high pitched beeping noise (similar to the sound some cars make when your seatbelt is unbuckled). I read a few reviews on Unilocal and it looked like Avus was trustworthy and reliable so I brought it over. They told me they would have to take the wheel and dashboard out to figure out where the beeping was coming from.
After I left they gave me a call and said in order to stop the beeping they would have to replace the entire dash and it would cost almost $ 1000. It wasn’t a safety issue so I just decided to live with the beeping. They then charged me $ 450 in labor fees even though they fixed nothing!
Last weekend I brought my car to Pacific Auto Service in Silver Lake because I needed to pass a smog test and the beeping was driving me CRAZY! Two hours later the mechanic called to say he stopped the beeping and got a smog test AND he only charged me $ 80 bucks.
I just can’t believe what scum the people at Avus are. Do not trust them. Go somewhere else. UGH

If you’re a CG (Car Guy) like me, you know that thing that some dudes say when you try to talk about cars: ‘I’m not a Car Guy.‘
To me, hearing this is sort of like saying ‘I’m not into boxer briefs, I kinda like ruffled panties’ or ‘ooh, a hammer? too complicated, let me call my handyman.‘
I mean, there are guys, and there are CGs. Having owned a BMW e36 M3 for 8 years, a BMW e90 M3 (competition package, bitches) for 3 months, I am surely a CG. Before that it was a Mustang 5.0 (Vanilla Ice CG), a Jeep CJ7 (Beachy CG) and several early 80s VW’s (all CG’d out). And when I was a kid, my best friend’s Dad owned several 1960s Jaguar race cars that we would borrow and rip around in. At age 14. Yeah, CG.
Let me be completely clear. I have tried, on several occasions, to buy a Non-​CG car. It didn’t work. I thought a Honda Accord would be smart. My Dad would not let it go and I wound up with an M3. I even drove a Fiat 500 for a month. And kind of liked it. But then I thought about getting hit (god forbid) and promptly got another Bimmer. And can you really snarl around the Fletcher onramp to the 2 in a car with a motorcycle engine? Nah.
So yeah, CG por vida, wether I like it or not.
Anyway, Avus. I’m not even a customer. I just visited the shop as a guest and was BLOWN away. Why?
Because it is classy and immaculate, because they clearly LIVE for automobiles, because they are trusted with cars worth hundreds and thousands of dollars by people who could go anywhere they want. I overheard some conversations that I KNOW they must have every day, yet they still have them with the same passion as if it was the first time it came up. ‘Would you buy a 540 stick for your wife? Hells yes.‘
You should see the precision with which they move cars around the shop. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. A choreographed dance of German Steel, all done effortlessly yet with absolute precision. A dropped Ferrari motor over there, an m3 getting a Dinan Stroker motor over there, e46 with a BBK… this place is nuts!
I’ll be honest. After having a borderline exotic for close to 10 years, I’m not planning on EVER paying another repair bill. But if I was… I’d probably hit Avus.
And it’s across from Mini Kebab and they cook their employees steaks at lunch. Need I say more?

I’m a girl who loves beautifully designed things, like my Z4. I spoil it like it’s my boyfriend. Or kid. Or dog. What can I say, I treat the things I love in an uncompromising manner. The things I love are lucky sons of bitches.
I’m also a girl that hates anything car repair/​maintenance related because the following things immediately enter my mind:
a) Fuck, this is going to be expensive!
b) I hope they don’t do a shitty job.
c) I hope they do the job. Period.
d) Are they trying to con/​rip me off?
e) All of the above.
Thank the BMW Gods above for Avus, because as soon as I stepped foot into their immaculate shop, I knew it was BMW heaven and I could rest easy. My search for a competent place to bring my ride was over.
Andrew is a friend of a friend of a friend. twice removed. Kidding about that last part. Thank God for friends who own shops like this! I knew without a doubt I would be taken care of here. I even got the VIP treatment and had the privilege of sampling the famous coffee brewed by one of the technicians in the shop. It was nice and strong. I had 5 cups by the time I left, one of which was hand delivered to me by Andrew. Thank you, Andrew! I sat in the leather couch adorned lounge area and got some work done while I waited.
They are top-​notch. Super professional. Customer service like whoa. I was told exactly what they were going to do and they even gave my car a general inspection and a clean bill of health. They even cleaned up this micro-​filter for the A/​C that most dealerships/​shops don’t even know exists (and is a pain in the ass to pull out) under the dash. That thing was filthy until they got to it. If it weren’t for them, I’d still be breathing in that gunk. Whew!
The shop itself is so amazingly clean. Like, cleaner than most peoples living room type of clean. Never in my life have I ever seen a shop so clean. It was shocking. Auto shop twilight zone. right here.
Andrew hooked it up with a sweet price. My bank account and I were extremely grateful. Avus is worth every penny spent. Jonathan even gave me a recommendation of a place to get my car bluetooth enabled, so that I can talk on the phone & keep my hand on the shifter like the responsible driver I am.
Driving since my oil change, my car runs smooth as silk. Like butter, baby. And, when I blast my A/​C, I know I’m breathing clean air.
