Braun Brake Service

I took in my car for a check up and oil change, they gave me excellent service and great pricing.

Even though I did not actually have any work done, I am giving David and Serge 5 stars for honesty, I had Glendale Nissan do a full check up on my car and one of the many thing they listed as needing service was a full brake job, so I thought the brakes did feel a little long but there was no squeaking, just to be safe I took it to Braun Brake Service, David checked it twice and came to the conclusion that it did not need any brake service at all, He could have easily sold me a brake job, but he opted to take the honest route, I am definitely going back there when the time comes and will make sure to refer everybody to this place, as far as Glendale Nissan I will add more details on my upcoming review of their service tactics

David is a gem. He is courteous, fair and was dynamite in an emergency situation I had this summer when another repair place flaked out on me.
Not only that, his tires are top notch and I have not had one problem since buying them 5 years or so ago.
He is always available if I have a problem with my 25 year old Toyota and gives helpful, yet not pressuring, advice.
Oh and did I mention his prices are very reasonable? I have never felt ripped off.

You want honesty. You want reliability. You want someone who can take care of problems with options to not bust your wallet? David is the man. He fixes all my brothers’ cars. He gives us his honest opinion and we haven’t had any problems since.

Very professional and knowledgeable. Quick and robust fixes always impressed me with his honesty. I’ve gone to him many times and more often I would be surprised expecting to pay a lot more but ended up paying much less.

My car developed a vibration at highway speeds. There are a few things that can cause this. David diagnosed my problem in 5 minutes and he was right. I needed 4 new shocks. David made sure I got the proper weight and quality for my heavy Suburban. The car is now running great. Would have been 5 stars but I felt the price was high after researching deals online afterwards. Caveat emptor.

I went down to Braun Brake Service to have my Jeep Commander’s brakes checked out because of some noise that was coming from underneath my car. The mechanics here are honest people. They told me flat out that my brakes are new and that changing it wasn’t worth it. They told me that it was possible that the pads I had on were an inferior brand that made noises (I don’t mind the noise too much so I’ll stick with them for now). Since the shop also service tires, I had them replace a TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) on one of my wheels. The work was done properly and very quickly. I’m definitely happy I found out about this place and will be coming back for an alignment in about 4 more months. For now I’ll rate them a ⁴⁄₅. I’ll re-​rate them the next time I use them. I’ll update my review afterwards.

I was very pleased with my brake job. The owner was more than fair and honest with me. I would def go back for more service in the future. They even gave me a ride to and from work while my car was being serviced. Thanks guys!!!

David, the owner, is a rare man. He runs an auto repair and tire place that is honest, fair and believes in telling you about the problem before they become critical. This has saved me a lot of emergencies and since I do a lot of driving, that is important. Another unusual trait is that whatever he fixes stays fixed! I rarely have to go in for repairs between oil changes. The thing I like best is that he does all my normal maintenance for the car: oil changes, tune-​ups, tires, brakes, replace broken lights, etc. But come see for yourself! He is the best auto mechanic I have ever had in 52 years.

Wow the people here are honest and thorough. I have taken my car here before since my tire pressure light was on, and thought something might have been wrong with the tire, or a screw or pin might have been in it. However they inspected my tires and let me know one of my tires was just a bit low on air and that nothing needed to be replaced or repaired with the tire. I had been to another place before and they told me I would need a new tire and gave me some options, however I’m glad I took it here and got a second opinion. They were honest and didn’t make me buy something I didn’t need. Its been 8 months since, and my tire is running perfectly. I have referred my friends here and all have been happy with their performance. Thanks guys!

Can I just say I love this place? I was shocked at how reasonable they charged for changing my brake pads that were worn down to the nub, and they even said they could use some off brand brake pads that saved me about forty dollars. I’ve never in my life heard of a shop recommending something cheaper.
A few months later my check engine light came on and I dreaded the worst. I needed a bald tire changed (and they never gave me the hard sell about changing the other front tire that every other place gives) I came in and they said they would check the check engine light free and go from there. They showed me the computer readout that said the gas gauge needed to be recalibrated and they just did it. Didn’t even freaking charge. What planet am I on? Finding an honest mechanic shop is the holy grail in Los Angeles — this place is the real deal.

David and crew were awesome!
I highly recommend them for any of your break needs. He had quoted me 60 $ but when I got there he only charged me 50 $, being it cost less then he had anticipated. Now that’s integrity!

Although David is friendly and helpful it is important to realize that he is in business of making money. In my case he insisted that ALL my brake rotors needed to be replaced when they all were significantly over minimum.
His excuse, he ALWAYS turn rotors (which is only necessary if they are damaged or warped) and that would have brought the rotors under spec. Though the rotors did not need to be turned, even after turning the rotors should have STILL been well over minimum unless they were asleep at the machine.
Between replacing parts that didn’t need to be replaced and the nominal 100%+ markup on parts, what should have been $ 200-​$ 300 ended up being well over $ 800.
Bring your own micrometer and buyer beware!

Used to live within walking distance of this place and loved it. Haven’t been able to find a comparable shop since.
Always had it done before noon and if I paid cash, no tax. Dave kept my old car with 170,000 miles running before I finally upgraded.

I always come here for all my car needs. I drive a Mercedes but the dealer always rips you off on both parts and labor so I come here in between my regular services at the dealership. This place is super reliable and honest with the work they do. They give me the best possible deal and don’t try to replace parts unnecessarily. They recently replaced my alternator for half the price of what the dealership would charge. I’m definitely happy with all my experiences here and highly recommend!

This place is amazing! I’ve been taking my car here for about the past 5 years. I had a bad experience at the Acura dealer, and at other mechanic shops quoting me work that was not needed, or overpriced. From day one, I trusted the repairs Dave quoted. Mainly because they seemed to mirror what I already thought the issue might be. The repair price was extremely reasonable, and I never felt they were trying to sell me anything I didn’t really need. As hard as it is to find a decent honest mechanic, This place is definitely a diamond in the rough. I would recommend anyone to bring their car here for any auto repair. You will not be disappointed with the service.

A few years ago, I went to Midas, in downtown LA, to get my oil changed. The mechanic there scared me to death. He told me my car needed $ 1200 worth of repairs, and that is was unsafe to drive it as it was. A woman I met briefly in a physical therapy office, suggested that I try Braun Brake Service. She said the owner, David, is about as honest as they get, and that I can trust his word. She told me she once left a $ 100 bill in the front seat of her car while he was working on it. The bill was still there when she returned!
This woman simply could not say enough nice things about David.
I called David. He said it sounded like the person at Midas was trying to scare me. He told me to bring my car in. I left it there for ½ hour. He examined if for free. He told me my car looked good. The Midas mechanic had told me that I needed to change the timing belt. At the time, David said the belt still looked like new.
Since that time I have brought my car to David three times. So far so good. I get the sense that he is very honest, in addition to being a good mechanic. His prices are reasonable, as well.
The other day, I brought my car in again for an oil change. When I arrived, I told David I had a few concerns. David said, «Don’t worry, I will check everything out!» And, he did! The news is not as good as it was a few years ago. At this point, I do need to change the timing belt. However, I know that I can trust David’s word.
While I was waiting for my car, another customer thanked David for being honest. She needed some repairs on her car. David told her she could wait 5,000 more miles before getting the work done.
The bottom line is that when I go to Braun Brake Service, I feel like I am in good hands. That is a good feeling. It is good to know a mechanic you can trust!

Dave is such a great mechanic. He’s honest, thorough and reasonably priced. He goes over exactly what needs to be fixed with you in detail.

Honest and the best price for work you’ll find anywhere. They are always packed with customers which is a good sign and I’ve known dozens of people who have been bringing their cars to this location for years because of the honesty and the kindness of the owner. He doesn’t need to nickel and dime you. He’s making a name for himself on the quality of his work and the return business.
