Went to the SPNCON in NJ. The entire event was poorly organized for the hundreds of dollars spent. Never again.

I have been trying for 2 days to use their website to order Captains Chair tickets. The website won’t load. I emailed Creation begging for help because this would sell out fast. I’ve tried multiple times– nothing. They won’t answer their phone. Now I go on line today and it is SOLD OUT??? Neither me nor my friends can get to a purchase screen — the web site fails… so HOW can it be sold out? Pity they are the only ones that do the Trek only conventions — I’m SO MAD!!!
UPDATE: 4 hours later… still no joy. Web pages load very slow, time out, and can not get past the ticket selection page. Nothing like getting a «shopping time exceeded» error when their system is why you’ve been on so long. No responses to emails or voicemail — worst service since Wizard Con. I hope they go bankrupt.

They scam you for hundreds. Do not buy online. They don’t post the schedule until day of. So if u buy early you will MOST likely buy the wrong day and then you will be stuck with wrong day non refundable tickets and be out hundreds of dollars and have to spend hundreds more. Longest running scam I’ve seen. DONT buy early or u will get scammed.

Not worth the price. I was supposed to be at the Supernatural event (Las Vegas) RIGHT NOW (I walked out) but was disgusted by what I saw. They oversold the Gold and Silver packs to cram enough people into a room so they could get more $$$. This company is basically a prostitute, the more money you put in the more you get.
After going to this event I realize that when celebrities and companies like this see fans they just see $$$. The only ones that matter are the ones who can afford to pay overpriced amounts to see (for a brief second) their idols. They are coming back next year and I will tell all that I know to avoid this place like the plague.

My daughter is a big Supernatural fan. This is her second year getting tickets. What I don’t understand is why does she have to pay $ 7.25 SHIPPING charges for each ticket when she is sent an email to print them directly on the computer? I sure wish I knew who I could report this to. Even if you order more than one ticket per transaction you are CHARGED $ 7.25 for EACH ticket. highway robbery. Very poor practice.

Attended The Vampire Diaries 2012 in San Francisco. So boring and such a time suck! The main day was Saturday. There were 4 cast members total for the day. The first cast member came on stage about 1 pm for 30 minutes of Q&A. The rest of the cast did not come on stage until 5 pm. So was there great enertainment in between? Unfortunately not. There was a trivia contest, a fan music video contest, and a very short costume contest, all of this may have lasted a hour. Essentially unless you spend emormous amounts of money to get every photo op or autograph– there is nothing to see or do. The vendor room had 3 vendors, a dress maker, a guy selling plastic Jack-​o-​lanterns, and a merchadise table with show t-​shirts, photos, etc. So once the final cast member panel concluded at 6 pm. There again was a huge stretch of time with nothing to do until 9:30 pm when a dance was supposed to start. This dance was attended by only one of the four cast members present for the day. Final analysis: don’t waste your time, your better off watching reruns of your favorite show.

I used to attend Creation conventions back when the only fee was the admission. One could go to panels, meet celebs in the halls between ballrooms (security was almost non existent back then, maybe no need?) and the vendors rooms were massive with all sorts of goodies. I had to stop going for 10 years for lack of funds. When I decided to go with a new friend I had made who was also a StarWars fan, I found changes. Seats were paid for by name and proximity to the stage. Nice on one hand so you could leave and come back to find your seat free. But more expensive! We entered the ballroom to be met by someone who said we couldn’t sit because we were general admission. I said to hell with that, and we sat in the last row of a very empty section.
My most recent experience found myself at the Burbank Supernatural con in 2012. I bought Silver which was the middle range, had some included autographs but little else. Like others, I find the autograph lines confusing. When I was turning in a circle trying to figure out where to go, one celeb guest told me where to exit. Thanks to that person or else I would have gotten upset, Why weren’t staff monitoring things better? You feel very rushed throughout and don’t even get to say much. One star was even grumpy which made me feel funny and less than happy for the cost, but I think the chaos may have upset him. Also, the rule is to not inscribe an autograph to anyone, but a few celebs ignored the rule. What dolls! Now someone told me some cons are smaller so there is more time for mingling with the stars. Look for those ones. And yes, take money, lots of it. Everything has a charge, but if you are willing to pay it, you can have fun. If you have to go cheaply, you can still have fun, from waaaay back in the room. I don’t go to the massive Star Trek Vegas con anymore because of the size of the room. IF you can’t even see the large movie screens let alone the stage, why bother?
Hotels used to have great incentives to stay with a con rate. For this one, I found the AAA rate was better so used that.
I am planning on going to the SPN Vegas con in 2013 but it may be my last. Just too expensive.

Ehhh, not really a place to go to for an awesome weekend. Not worth the price. Plus the costume contest is rigged (explaination in last paragraph).
I volunteered once at a convention of theirs, and attended twice as a patron. I was REALLY bored when volunteering. Wasn’t really much for us to do but to stand around and ask to see wrist bands. And even that gets tedious after a while.
The WOH convention was really awesome in 2011. I had a great time and was excited to go to it again. Saaaadly that went to the pits when they cancelled it. Why? I have no idea. But it was a big bummer.
Supernatural convention i was really excited for, especially for the costume contest. I REALLY wish they would post their schedule earlier than two days beforehand because i got there around 3pm, under the impression it would happen around 5. Nope! It was made to be at 7:15. OI VEY! Okay, alright no problem! i will just check out the many vendors they must have lined up, just like with the WOH. Okay, awesome… *walks down the hallway*…wait…there are three vendors… Where are the rest?!
Needless to say, i was VERY bored for the next 4 hours.
So to the costume contest — There were only three of us that really put an effort to our costumes. I covered myself in tribal tattoos, trench coat with goth boots, and pale blue eye contacts. Another girl went with blood running out of her eyes, holding a Blood Mary mirror. We lost to a girl with pretty hair, and the only accessory to her costume being a knife. No real thought went to her costume, except for the knife. Otherwise she looked like any girl you see walking down the street. The voting was done according to cheers by the audience. The bloody mary and i hadthe loudest collection of cheers. The pretty girl was not so much. She still won first place.
We lost because, as it turned out, she was VIP.
Soooo yeah, costume contests seem to be rigged as well.
I doubt i will go back to one of their conventions. They keep letting down after a while.

In a sense, Creation was a gateway drug.
Along with reading comics, sci-​fi, and fantasy, I was a massive Xena and Hercules fan when I was 12. Saw an ad for a convention for them during a commercial break, and my convention addiction was off and rolling.
Had a blast at the con, which was pretty much a small ballroom of a dealer room and one large room for all of the celebrity guests (of which there were many — Kevin Sorbo, Lucy Lawless, Ryan Gosling, Gina Torres, Alexandra Tydings, Joel Tobeck, if memory serves, as well as writers and other crew).
The only thing that seemed different compared with other cons was having to pay more just to sit in the main seating area. People who paid general admission had to sit way in the back of this room the size of an airplane hangar.
As the years went on, I started regularly attending all of the local cons Southern California had to offer, even heading into other states for my fix. I began to appreciate Creation less and less, feeling that they treat fans like wallets rather than fostering a community drawn together by a movie or TV series as I once believed.
For one thing, you have to pay for just about everything. At most cons, you pay to get in and then you’re free to wander into panels and so on. These days Creation has you paying for a good number of panels and other events they know fans would willingly hand over their firstborn (or soul, in the event the attendee cannot conceive by the event) in order to attend.
And then there’s a big pricetag on autographs and photos with the guests. Unfortunately, after paying for a guaranteed chance to meet them, you’re still rushed through autographs and photo-​ops, so you don’t really have a moment to speak with the guest. It’s to the point that you have to buy the $ 500 weekend packages in order to get «non-​rushed» (as it says on their website) autographs some of the guests.
Ah, Creation. You were once great in mine eyes. Now your name tied to a convention is just another reason for me to pass it up.

I’ve been going to the Las Vegas Star Trek hosted by Creation Entertainment for a couple years. (The upcoming 2011 convention in August will be my 3^rd.) The first year blew me away. Held at the Las Vegas Hilton, this annual convention is the largest of the Star Trek celebrity gatherings hosted by Creation, usually boasting at least 70 guests including the big names like William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Kate Mulgrew, Avery Brooks, Scott Bakula, Brent Spiner, Christopher Lloyd, and many, many, many more. The convention is a four day affair, with various ticket levels and a la carte activities. Tons of attendees (including myself) dress in costume; a few Captain Picard’s and Captain Sisko’s have been known to fool others into believing they are the real deal :)
The past two years, my main complaints have been the disorganization of autograph sessions. I have looked past the exorbitant costs of photo and autograph ops because, well, I am sure these actors demand a high appearance fee and I know Creation must tack on enough to each ticket sale that they make a profit. So I’ve sort of taken the bad for what it’s worth when it comes to pricing (and have actually defended their pricing to other conventioneers. But the autograph sessions. .. it’s always when there are Gold level ticket holders involved (who receive a certain amount of autographs free with their admission). The first year, we waited for over four hours for an autograph from Jonathan Frakes (William Riker, TNG), a combination of poor organization (lumping him at the same table with four or five lesser known stars, many of whom were in the Gold package), and inattentiveness by the woman calling the ticket numbers. On the other side of the hall, Michael Dorn (Worf) signed his autographs and was done within a few hours. By the 3.5 hour Mark, Jonathan left the hall, presumably to use the restroom, but we could tell he wasn’t happy. When he returned, they moved his table away from the other guests, and he breezed through the remaining autographs (very politely, I might add.)
Last year, we waited three hours for our autograph from Avery Brooks. Given, Avery is a character and was very attentive to his guests, but again, the event was disorganized and the woman handling the order can be quite rude. Right about the 3 hour mark, when we were 20 people away from meeting Avery, they began putting Captain’s Chair attendees (2^nd highest level ticket-​holder) in between each person in line so that they wouldn’t miss their special party. Understandable, and I know I would have appreciated this were I a Captain’s Chair ticket holder, but considering that the woman lost count of the ticket numbers (we all eventually just got in line regardless of our number) I wonder if the three hour wait could have been prevented.
Fortunately, these were the only two events that have really hindered our experience. If there are others, I’ve probably forgotten them. We love the photographer that Creation uses. He is attentive, often asking guests to step through for another photo when the guest blinks, or the actor is scowling (Shatner!) in the photo. However, last year during the photo ops with Sir Patrick Stewart, the photographer was faced with an extraordinarily high demand for photos. At $ 200 a pop, I was blown away by the number of tickets sold, as there had to be 500 people in line. So, I get that he had to move through those photos quick. Unfortunately, our $ 200 photo suffered, as the photographer caught Stewart before he smiled. My husband and I joke that he looks like a confused old man. (Sorry Patrick!)
This year, Sir Patrick Stewart will attend the convention again, and, again, photo ops were listed at $ 200 a pop. .. until a few weeks later, when for some reason unknown to us, the price was dropped to $ 100. Obviously, prices change (look at technology!) But unless Sir Patrick Stewart is now a Borg, there’s no technology here, and I have to admit I’m annoyed that I could have saved $ 100 if I’d waited until THIS year (of course, I’d never do that since there’s no guarantee that any guest will appear from year to year.) Aside from that, beyond the ever-​increasing price of admission (it’s increased every year since we’ve attended) the shipping and handling fees are outrageous. My $ 500 order for two Gen Admission tickets ($ 149 each), 4 photo ops, and 1 autograph wound up with a $ 55+ fee for shipping and handling. I contacted Creation and received a generic response about how service fees are used by other ticketing agents and that they must cover the increasing costs of venues, stars, etc.
Well, frankly Creation, your increasing cost of admission should cover those increasing costs, and your average ticketing fee should be much lower. Perhaps you should call it a «service fee» and not «shipping and handling charges.» I’ve bought my admission for this year, but this year may be the last.

This business has been around for many years. Created especially for sci fi, fantasy and horror lovers. Like minded people that are in a unique category that are not of this earth. (Or at least wish they weren’t). I have enjoyed attending these conventions. Usually when they have been set here in Sacramento, but I’ve also attended a few in San Francisco. The people love to dress up in costumes and wander throughout the convention looking for the latest collectibles. Conversing with fellow geeks, and waiting in long lines to get that special autograph from the featured guest stars of the day. We get to hear from the actors, writers, artists of all venues and even ask them questions, or speak to them one on one if your lucky! Sometimes previews of upcoming TV shows or movies are shown. Some products are auctioned off for those serious collectors. And don’t forget to enter the costume contest while you’re there! This is a great way to leave reality behind and explore different worlds and mingle with people who share similar interests. Try it! Go forth and be not afraid! You are not alone!
