I was fortunate to have been accepted into the program at GAADS. This Program literally saved my life. I entered the Program almost three years ago. I am a 66 year old handicapped woman. I retired due to illness.. After I retired, things just fell apart for me. I dreaded waking up every morning. I was disappointed that I would have to go through another day. I did not think I would live to see my next birthday My PCP recommended I see a «shrink»; the«shrink» recommended I go to GAADS for an evaluation. GAADS connected with my health insurance and I was allowed to enter the program. I found the Counselors, staff and volunteers at GAADS to be professional, compassionate, kind people who were interested in helping anyone who wanted to live a sober life. This Program is not a «quick fix», nor is the facility a «country club». GAADS offered the structure which enabled me to learn the skills for sober living. If you sincerely wish to change your life and are willing to participate in their program of therapeutic writing and group counseling, then GAADS is the place for you! After the 6 month program, I was again able to welcome every new day and I am happy again after many years. I completed the 6 month follow up and I am ready to pickup my life. I currently attend local AA meetings as an additional support. I am back to living my life again and at 66 I am happy to say I am looking forward to going back to school. I will be forever grateful to the terrific people at GAADS!

Well, listen here«My Name is Still Shirley»… You are not the person who should be representing this establishment on the first-point-of-contact level. You are rude, unkind, and would make me WANT to use drugs. Honestly, I cannot tell you if this place is good or bad because the gal who answered the phone was such a bee eye tee cee achh that I didn’t even bother with them. I represented myself as the person who needed their services for a friend in need who isn’t ready to make the call himself. Upon calling I was greeted with judgement, impatience and sarcasm. A woman named Shirley answered the phone and demanded sensitive information such as a social security number to even receive a call back from their nurse who would then schedule an appointment to even talk to someone(Really? Fifty steps to even speak to someone? yeah, no thanks!). I told her that I simply wanted information about their establishment to determine if it were the right fit. An inquiry Shirley did not like, and by golly we were going to do things her way! I suspect she assumed I was the person needing assistance and so she spoke to me as if I were the scum of the Earth. Just a guess, but if your job is to be the aid sick people are looking for in what is probably a dark hour for them you shouldn’t treat them like they are complete failures and lucky to be speaking to you. I am thinking this place pisses off more people than it helps…

I’m amending my review because the program got in contact with my family and my sister entered and completed successfully. The GAADS program is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone, fight until you get in!

This is an excellent place!!! I call my «other» home. I detoxed 2 ½days at Glendale Adventist hospital. On Saturday afternoon I was taken to the residential Facility. I was nervous but I was ready this was my second attempt to sober up. It was was the best decision in my life! I was in group from 9:00am until 9:00pm. M-F then Sat. tell late afternoon. We wake up at 7:00 eat breakfast then walk to Forest Lawn Cemetery read from the«Daily Reflections» return to Study. We are given«treatments» that are questions we have to answer about ourselves and written similar to an essay. It is healing to write about oneself it can be freeing! we go through Phases I through Phase 4. It is a 6 months intensive course and a one year program. I am so grateful! to GAADS! With the tools I have learned I apply to life and troubled situations and will stayed sober along with a sponsor and doing my steps and attended meetings. There is family Counseling and Couples Counseling. Your Spouse and family are involved so they my learn the cause and effect of your disease. I have a new family that know me! and love me. I get hugs and give hugs. laugh and hear so much laughter. Its is only private insurance. No medical or medicare. Please call to make an appointment for an assessment. Welcome home.
