History

Established in 1905.

Glendale Adventist Medical Center is one of the city’s oldest businesses, founded in 1905, a year before Glendale was incorporated as a city. Back then, we were known as Glendale Sanitarium, occupying the former Glendale Hotel, a beautiful 75-room Victorian structure on what is now Broadway Avenue.

From the start, we focused not just on treating the sick, but on teaching people how to stay healthy. Over the years, that approach has never changed. We insisted that a healthy diet, exercise, rest and recreation were the cornerstones to a person’s well-being, and it comes as no surprise that today’s medical community has overwhelmingly embraced the very same principles of wellness that we helped pioneer.

It’s this commitment that has allowed us to grow from a 75-bed sanitarium to the 457-bed facility we are today and has allowed us to offer the Glendale community the latest treatment and wellness options for more than a century.
