History

Established in 2013.

Phoenix Coney Island was opened in March of 2013 by founders, Rob & Ula Bolis. Now Arizona residents, they visited their hometown Detroit in October 2012 and spent every morning at a popular Coney Island restaurant in Detroit. It was then and there, they came up with the idea to open a Coney Island restaurant that would offer a touch of Detroit, Chicago, Philly, & New York. Upon return from their trip, Rob & Ula began their quest and six months later, the first Phoenix Coney Island was opened in Glendale, AZ on March 4th, 2013. It’s been a huge hit with former Detroiters, and good folks that moved to Arizona from Chicago, Philly, New York, and other locales back east.

Rob is a food lover, if you couldn’t guess, who is passionate about making good food that looks appealing and tastes great! He’s quite nutty but an all around good guy who treats everyone like family, especially his guests! Sometimes, you can catch him in the kitchen, cooking side by side with his cooks, all the while complaining about various things, nevertheless, smiling and greeting his guests.
