Redefining Youth

After 3 years of getting laser treatment, I was not seeing the results that I should have been seeing. I was charged a really high fee and barely got 3 minutes of treatment time. I have voiced my concerns but did not receive any answers. I finally made the change to a much better and more professional laser hair removal clinic LA BEAUTY SKIN CENTER. Not only after 2 visits, I am seeing better results but I am ONLY paying $ 12 for partial fave. That’s a HUGE difference from paying $ 50 I was paying at Redefining Youth (which initially was asked to pay $ 80). I will not recommend R.Y. to anyone.

Janet is amazing! Not only is this the most reasonably priced laser center, it is the most effective. Janet has created an immaculate and comfortable environment and her results are phenomenal!

I would give it 3.5 stars only due to I think the consultation was not really done. She only asked me two questions and I felt like she should have really spent more time on getting to know my concerns. Don’t get me wrong the lady is super nice and she kept me at ease its my first time and I thought it was going to burn and sting specially since I have very sensitive skin. She lasered away and it really didn’t hurt but it did smell bad due to the burning hair. I did my sideburns, upper lip, small spot on my chinand part of my forehead since she said I have a really small forehead. I have a lot of baby hair and it never seems to grow. A good friend of mine recommended this place and she has seen good results so I trusted I would to. My friend told me a price it would be and when we were fine the last said a different price. I think during consultation she should tell people what the price ranges will be. My friend did say she recently notice the price list were taken off from her website and that she has been raising he prices.
It’s been two days and I still have the burned hair hopefully it starts to fall off soon. I have to go back in two weeks for another zap can’t wait to start seeing results. Yay to a new less hairy me :)
She takes debit and credit but prefers cash.

The lady that has always worked on me was Janet. She is friendly and pretty much straight to the point. I usually get my underarms, knuckles, upper lip, and brazilian done. Does it hurt? of course it depends on where you’re getting it done. The more sensitive the area, the more it will «hurt» but it doesn’t hurt that bad. I guess it depends on the person. They are SUPER affordable. I thought hot spot laser in pasadena was cheap! (and they are compared to other places) but redefining youth is AWESOME and cheapER. Anyway, quit searching around for other places. I personally don’t care about their customer service (not that they’ve treated me BAD) but they’re great altogether. They get the job done.

I feel terrible that I haven’t reviewed them yet. Definitely THE BEST place for laser in LA (maybe even the world)! I have been going for over a year. Prior to this, I had had laser done at 2 – 3 other places, but there is no going back. Not only is it the best deal – $ 70 for underarms and full Brazilian!!! – but it has been virtually painless. The results were excellent; better than the other places. And let’s not even mention the comparison to waxing; I don’t know how people can stand to do that time after time. Ouch!
Expect 6 – 8 monthly visits to remove the hair, and then touch-​up maintenance once every 3 – 6 months depending on your skin/​hair. Easy, right? Definitely makes bikini season (which let’s face it, is pretty much year round in LA) a breeze! Go. You won’t regret it. And neither will the special someone in your life…

I had been to a couple different places to do laser hair removal before finding redefining youth, and time after time it didn’t work and I was paying an arm and leg for it. It didn’t make any sense to me since I have dark hair and very pale skin (the perfect candidate for laser hair removal). After complaining to my friends I was recommended to JANET. She makes you feel very comfortable, plus she is professional, really reasonable prices. I have sent friends to her with all different skin tones and she is the only person my friends and I have found that has the newest technology in lasers and can work with any skin tone.

I’m a hairy guy. I used to sport a sweater year-​round.
I used to wax my back several times a year but I hated the pain. And then I would break out with bumps for about 10 days after the waxing. Other than getting laughed at for having a hairy back, waxing is one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced.
About two months ago, my brother told me he tried laser hair removal. He lives in out of state so I couldn’t go to his doctor. He told me how he put prescription numbing cream on his back and then wrapped himself in saran-​wrap a few hours before his treatments. That sounds retarded but I was willing to try it if it didn’t involve wax and bumps.
Two weeks ago, I found Redefining Youth here on Unilocal.It’s close to where I live and Unilocal people seem to have had positive experiences there. I called and made an appointment with Janet who told me to shave the areas I wanted to be treated. My experience deserves all 5 stars.
I was promptly greeted and given a brief consultation. I told Janet I wanted my back lasered and she did the treatment. She gave me protective glasses and asked me to lay down. 20 minutes later, my back was hairless.
Janet uses something called a CDC which is a laser device that shoots super cold air right before the laser hits your skin. The way my brother described his doctor’s laser, it felt like waxing, even with the numbing cream. Imagine how pissed he was when I told him about the CDC laser that felt like someone was flicking my back. He raged and I lold.
Two things:
1. Shave your areas CLEAN. The laser’s energy is absorbed by melanin or dark pigment. My wife missed a couple of spots on my back and the pain was pretty intense. Next time there will be no missed spots.
2. The smell is unpleasant. It’s because hair is burning. However Janet’s office is on an upper floor with giant windows that open. I can’t imagine how bad it would smell without good ventilation.
3. Janet’s prices are VERY reasonable. And listed on her site. My brother paid 1.5x as much and he lives in Phoenix where everything is typically cheaper.
Typically, an area requires 2 or 3 laser treatments to get rid of hair «permanently.» I use the «air quotes» because some people report regrowth that require touchups. I’ve only had the one treatment so far but the hair is about 85% gone. The 15% of follicles that are growing hairs now are growing lighter/​thinner hairs. When I used to wax, I’d have nasty stubble after two or three weeks. The laser is ridiculously effective.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this service to anyone. My wife is going next week to get her armpits done. I hope she misses a few spots when she shaves.

This place is really great the Doctor Janice is really nice and really great at laser hair removal. Her pricing is good as well. The only thing I could say is that sometimes I feel like she goes to fast on large areas but you do get great results. And the pain is not big at all only on boney ares but she loves to make sure your comfortable and have knowledge on whats going on and what to do to better the treatments.

Im very satisfied with this beauty clinic! And why am i giving 5 stars? For 5 simple resons
1.the laser machine is the best machine i ever ! I tried so many machines and this actually works, plus no pain at all!!!
2.Mrs J (the owner) of the store, is such a sweet person, she explain to me everything before we start the treatment!
3.We can actually say that we can have beauty without pain!

I’ve had several great experiences at Redefining Youth, although I’ve only ever been to the office on Brand. Having received laser treatments at 4 other places in the Los Angeles area, I feel like I’m pretty well-​versed in what the city has to offer, and Redefining Youth has been by far my best experience. I paid $ 70 to laser my armpits and full-​Brazilian. Amazing, right? The pain was minimal compared to other places I’ve been, and the results have been fantastic. I’ve been so happy with the results I’ve started treatments on my legs, $ 160 for full leg. The office is more doctor’s office than spa, very well-​kept. Super easy, free parking on Brand.

This place is AMAZING!
I am a darker skinned person and I thought that laser hair removal would not work for me (I had been told by many people that laser technology still does not work as well on darker skinner/​haired people) and I was told many horror stories about how the hair grew up thicker or like a man so I was skeptical to try laser hair removal. BUT i was referred to redefining youth by a friend and the price was AMAZING so I couldn’t pass it up and decided to give it a shot.
I’ve had 5 treatments now and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the results! I get the laser treatments for my face and neck. I use to pay $ 35-​$ 40 every other week (and sometimes every week) to get my full face done, costing me on average about $ 100 a month AND I would have to tweeze in between sessions because tiny hairs were missed but now I spend way less than that a month and my entire face is completely clean!
I definitely recommend this place not just because the prices (which are the best I’ve seen in SoCal) but also because the owner cares about the process and her customers! Janet’s center is one of the best dermatology type businesses that I’ve been to in a long time (and trust me I’ve been to quite a few in LA, San Diego, and the OC) The process is not painful at all and it is quick as well! She also offers there amazing skin services such as a chemical peel for a great price!

I LOVE this place and would recommend it to anyone. First of all I would like to say I am not new to laser hair removal. I first started about 8 years ago with my face at a completely different location. I went to 2 different places before coming here. They were expensive, painful and ineffective.
I am amazed by the noticeable difference. It is almost pain free and the price is VERY competitive. I am so fortunate to have found this place. I now go for my entire body.
It is without a doubt worth the money and time to invest in. TRUST ME, JUST GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY… YOU WONT REGRET IT! My mom, aunt and cousin go here as well (after trying several other places) and are also very satisfied.

I’m pretty hairless in the sense that I have to have my legs maybe once every 6 months… and that’s only if I remember. However, it is a pain to always have to shave *ahem* other places, if you know what I mean.
So what’s a girl to do? Simple! Get that ish lasered off!
But here’s the problem. I saw some of my friends with minor laser burns on their legs (sadly, they are not as hairless of a glorious monkey as I am) from their treatments AND they tell me about how painful it is.
Ladies. Imagine if you have to wrap yourself DOWN THERE in a weird saran wrap diaper with EmLa cream just so that you might be sort of numb enough to withstand a friggin laser zapping away at your ya-​hoo.
I can’t so I never got it done. I figured I’d be happier giving my money to Gillette if it means I never have to have a burned va-​jay-​jay.
Enter Janet and Redefining Youth.
Her laser has this insane cryo feature in which you are blasted with a jet of cool air milliseconds before the laser hits its target. Talk about awesomeness beyond all that is awesome!
So my first time there was kind of scary because I didn’t know what to expect. I was like Madonna in her «Like A Virgin» song. I was scared and all that crap not only because I more or less had to get nekkid but because this sweet little lady was about to zap some areas of me that are uh… delicate.
She has an excellent bedside manner, kept me very calm and told me stories about her new grandson. Before I knew it, I was all done and it didn’t even hurt. We even got to rock these super awesome hot pink Lady Gaga-​ish eye protector glasses.
Boys, don’t worry. You can get treatments too (face, neck and back) but I don’t think she’ll do your bikini area. Sorry.
At this time, she only accepts cash. There’s a Bank Of America down the street and around the corner.
I’d love to give you a breakdown of how much everything costs but it depends on a case by case basis. She determines cost by how much work your case will be.
If you’re paranoid that you’re getting ripped off, allow me to say that when I compare my treatments against my coworkers/​friends who go to someone else, they are always amazed by :
1. How much less MY treatments are
2. How I didn’t have to walk like a cowboy afterward the treatment because of the pain.
3. How I’m not *ahem* swollen from the treatments (wow…talk about TMI, huh?)
4. How I don’t have weird scars or minor laser burns.
