Dined today, told they are closing at 3pm June 26, 2016. Will miss this place. Finished my review, thank you very much for prodding me to do you job.

Went in for breakfast on the way out of town. The place looks pretty old, not particularly run down or anything but it was decorated in the 70’s and never updated. It also seems like it caters to mostly senior citizens. The menu is relatively small and the food is very basic fare. Unfortunately it tastes that way too. Nothing was really bad, but it wasn’t that good either. I can’t imagine going back when you could get comparable food at a Denny’s or IHOP.

This is a nice old school LA diner. The service is great. The staff is very friendly. The menu is classic LA diner fare. It’s very casual. The owner or manager always seems to be around checking on everyone. My favorite here is getting breakfast. Corned beef hash. The waffles. The omelets. All classic stuff and served hot.

Been coming here for over 20 yrs now! Their zucchini bread has not changed and it is probably the best in town! They also have the best bowl of chili and beans. I enjoy their chicken strips. Oh and you can never go wrong with their Soup of the day on Friday’s .Clam Chowder! It’s a nice and quiet place. If you want to avoid the overrated and overcrowded conrads, head to Shakers. Waiters/waitresses are super friendly. Large parking lot available in the back.

Oooo Shakers how I love thee! I grew up across the street from this restaurant and now going back 15 years later brings all kinds of wonderful childhood memories to surface, but enough about me and more about shakers. Its just a cute little diner with good food and great prices. It has an old school feel inside because of the carpet and older crowd so if your looking for something basic and good its this place! They also make their own zucchini bread which I love and for the kiddos. there is a treasure chest of little toys they can pick from for fun! I suggest getting the breakfast burrito if you head over for breakfast it wont disappoint.

I like Shakers menu. But the servers seemed always hurried and stressed. We come here regularly… different times, different days… If the staffs could be a little bit more welcoming and personable. maybe I can give you 4 stars. *Or you should add more servers?. that could probably help ease out the hurry– me up attitude. The Everest few blocks away are far more better service. Other than that, Shakers has been consistent with food quality _So KUDOS to the Kitchen staffs, Cooks and Dishwashers and the bussers!

Shakers is the absolute best. Great staff, good food, chock full of the best senior citizens Glendale has to offer. What more IS there?

The Pasadena location is much better. The food quality seems to be really poor here comparatively. Tonight I was told they were out of broccoli and didn’t have any other vegetable option except tomato slices. Not impressed. Go to Conrads across the street. They always have healthier hardier food choices.

Used to go here quite often for the weekday breakfast special, which has almost doubled in price over the past 7 years. This time we came for a sandwich but we probably won’t be back. My wife and I shared the french fries and salad which were average. Her sandwich looked nice, but the tomatoes and avocado weren’t ripe. My chicken sandwich was slightly better than what you’d get at a Jack in the Box, though the bun was cold. The main reason I’m writing, however, is the poor service from the waitstaff, who clearly had better things to do on a slow night. After making us wait 15 minutes sans apology to take our order, our waiter dropped off our food and never came back – not to check if our food was satisfactory, not to see if we needed a refill on our drinks, and not to clear our plates. Interestingly he appeared to have plenty of time to hob nob with others, as we saw him talking and walking back and forth behind the counter. After finishing our meal and chewing on ice, we got the attention of one of the servers at the register. She look at me as I waved, I politely motioned that I needed help and she ignored me, choosing to smeck with coworkers instead. Finally, the manager came by, I explain our situation and he did his best to smooth things over, but I in retrospect I should have mentioned that saying the waiter got busy doing something else didn’t make any sense. It’s one thing to forget the soup or miss a table’s refill, but to completely forget to walk the floor to see how your guests are doing for the duration of an entire meal sounds like the guy doesn’t know his job or doesn’t care. He finally came around with the check though he had nothing to say. At the register, the manager comped our drinks and seemed like a nice guy, but I hope he trains his staff better.

Need a good diner breakfast? Go to Shakers! Just moved to Glendale and needed a good breakfast for unloading day. I had the breakfast sopes($ 11). Very satisfying and tasty. The sopes were a little hard and under seasoned, but better than I was expecting from a diner. My girlfriend got the strawberry Belgian waffle($ 8) which was Amazing! Great crispy exterior while staying warm and fluffy on the inside. Delicious strawberries and whipped cream topping. Service was excellent. Prompt, friendly, and great at refilling coffee. We were easily the youngest people there at 27 and 28yrs if that’s something you care about. I would definitely come back.

Since this place was full of people I figured I would get a decent meal — I was wrong. I ordered the«chicken special» last Wednesday night. The special usually means«fresh food» not«reheated» over and over food, I was sick from food poisoning for 4 days! I haven’t been that sick in years. The food is terrible, the service is terrible. I strongly recommend hiring a real chef and stop with the cooks that think they’re chefs.

Been here for brunch a few times and it’s a safe choice. The breakfast menu is on the smaller side(they don’t even have waffles), but they have some yummy choices like potato pancakes and buttermilk biscuits. Better yet, the service was impeccable. Our server was very attentive and accommodating to my picky food choices. Doesn’t hurt that there’s a spacious parking lot in the back!

I stayed at the hotel across the street. Starving at 10pm on a Friday. Too late to eat heavy, so I ordered sweet potato fries and corned beef. The fries were not greasy, not frozen. Just fresh and served with a chipotle mayonnaise. The corned beef may have come from a can, but I buy it that way and I was starving. I bought a loaf of zucchini bread. It was good but the nuts and raisins sunk to the bottom.(Helpful hint. Dust raisins and nuts in flour before adding to avoid sinking). The Manager or owner was super nice.

I come here for breakfast with my daughters and it’s decent. I enjoy the old familiar feel of this place. Today I ordered the chilaquiles and they were awful. It was a bowl full of tortillas in a red sauce and with a few slices of avocado and an egg. Just awful. Don’t order this. Take it off your menu.

I am beyond disappointed with the customer service that I received this morning. I was already annoyed that I waited nearly 30 minutes for a breakfast burrito in which I had ordered to go but I was willing to let that go until I experienced the following: They gave me my «large» grapefruit juice(which is almost about four dollars in cost !) in a 12 ounce cup. I am highly disappointed with the reaction that I got from who seems to be the general manager of this establishment. He caught an attitude with me when I said that this is not a large this is a small. He literally bend down, got in my face, tipped his glasses, and with a snarky tone said«well at our restaurant THIS is a large.» Because of the reaction that I received from the general manager I will never be a returning customer nor will I recommend this place to anybody. I don’t care if it’s the last place on earth to eat. I would rather chew off my left arm.

Shakers in Glendale is kind of a letdown to be perfectly honest. My first visit was exceptional, however the previous two trips were sub-par at best. There are definitely better diners around town and even across the street at Conrads, or a few miles away at Astro Diner. The service is atrocious minus a very pleasant Chinese woman(mid 40’s) who I beg for every time. If you get a Goth/Skater girl with piercings as your server I would inform you to expect off-kilter jokes and awkward stares.

I had the breakfast burrito to-go. It was good. It had ham, sausage, cheese melted on top of the burrito, tomatoes, potatoes but had entirely too much bell peppers for my taste. It comes with accompanying salsa and whipped cream with slices of avocado. I wish there was more potatoes, ham & sausage and waay less bell peppers. When I got to the end of the burrito, it was pure bell peppers and I wasnt too pleased with that. This was after I already thought it had a little too much of the stuff. It’s a good sized burrito. It’s definitely filling. I just wish it was better. And the tortilla they use is way too big. You end up with this gigantic end piece of folded up tortilla that you feel bad not eating. It was kind of a waste. Old timers diner for sure. Lots of regulars reading their morning paper in the same spot every day type of place… When I was in high school, my parents mom was kind enough to take us home but she’d often times stop by Shakers first to get a loaf of Zucchini bread. That stuff is the business.
