Description

Specialties

Our specialty is classical Ballet training with a focus on posture and strengthening. We also highlight ballet as a performing art where students can explore pointe work if they are able and encourage participation in informal and formal performances. The studio hosts student showcases, a pre-professional, non-profit youth company California Classical Youth Ballet, as well as En L’Air Dance Nexus, a non-profit project bringing in choreographers, musicians, set designers, costumers, and dancers.

The studio has expanded its program to include Jazz and Contemporary classes as well as adult Conditioning classes. We plan to include Tap soon!

Our students have enjoyed attending prestigious programs with American Ballet Theatre, School of American Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Los Angeles Ballet, Maple Conservatory, and ABT’s pre-professional program at Segerstrom Performing Arts Center. Joffrey Ballet has also held Master Classes at the Academy.

We are very proud of our student’s hard work and the dedication of their families to their artistic achievements!

History

Established in 1998.

Academy en l’Air, formerly Dance en l’Air founded by Marielle Reyes, carried on Mrs. Reyes’s dance legacy into the school’s restructuring on July 1, 2007. The studio is dedicated to classical training both for the serious student with professional goals and for students who wish to pursue healthy ways of achieving grace, balance, and well-being through beautiful movement.

The school offers pre-ballet, beginning, intermediate, advanced, men/boys, and adult levels. The cohesive program stresses continuity. We encourage a mentoring model for our senior division dancers and volunteer junior dancers to share with our younger students the important techniques that they have acquired in their training.

The studio is a professional member of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, southwest district research consortium, with affiliation to the National Dance Association and the American Alliance for for Physical Activity and Recreation.
