Wow! Lora Johnson is the best! I saw her last Sunday for a new cut for my curly hair. I have been wearing it shoulder length but it was just not right. My hair is thinning on the top and was hard to style. She warned me after seeing my pictures that she saw it short. Well I was afraid to say the least. After I arrived and we discussed it more I told her go for it. She did what I asked and left it a bit longer in the back for my comfort.
Well, fast forward to Tuesday. I was happy with my cut but after playing with it I realized Lora was right and it needed to be shorter. She was so great and took me in on the next day she had an opening. She went through my hair again and shortened it and now it is perfect. She did such an awesome job. Can’t wait to see her again for my next perfect cut. Also Kudos to her assistant, she great too!

I found out about Lora thru Unilocal.I have been wanting my hair to be cut by a person who has experience on cutting curly hair near my neighborhood. I will admit that I was scared when I went to get my hair done by her, mainly because it was a person I found on the internet. I got Lora’s number from a salon she works at in Rancho, The Hair Inn Salon. I called her and she was the sweets person I have ever talked to on the phone and in person. Lora asked to send pictures of my face with my hair pulled back, a profile, back view of my hair, and front. She also asked for pictures I would like my haircut to be. Once, I send these pictures she went over what she saw in the photos both the photos that one sent of myself and the photos of how I wanted my hair to be. The day of the haircut Lora reanalyzed my face structure and already studied the photos of how i would like my hair to be and she told me that she would do some slight adjustments from the photos I sent, due to my face structure. I realized that she mainly wanted the haircut to compliment ones facial structure. Once, she took the first snip, I got excited to see what was going to happen. Lora cut my hair in different angles, I personally never had my hair cut in this way, which was absolutely unique. I ABSOLUTLY LOVVVVEEEE MY NEW HAIR!!! It came out better then I ever I ever imagine! Honestly, I think it came out better then the photos I sent her. She was well worth the trip and the money and a little extra! ;)

She gave me the best cut ever. I’ve only had my hair cut straightened so this was quite different for me. She is truly gifted and takes the time to figure out the right cut for your face. If you have curly hair she’s the the one to go to.

This lady knows how to truly cut curly hair! especially cutting it in its natural state. She brought my curls back to life… my hair was sooo damaged from straightening it. My hair has life, it bounces, and springs up so healthy I’m in LOVE. And this is my first time writing a Unilocal review! I had to write one because of how amazing this lady is and how great the experience was!!!
I just want to say thank you Lora Johnson! You did an amazing job with my new hair cut. I told her I wanted something different than my twins hair cut. I walked in not having any idea what style I was going for but I did know I wanted all my straight ends and dead pieces gone AND that I can put my hair at least in a tiny tiny ponytail just for work. Of course I went during my lunch break at work didn’t have any pictures lol I was second thinking of canceling my appointment… but then she said not to worry and started measuring my facial features, seeing if I had a square, oval, or round face. I was shocked! She gave me a hair cut that worked around my own face structure. The best part was she didn’t rush me to make a decision, she didn’t rush to cut my hair, and she kept saying are you sure? She pointed out different looks… she even took her phone out and showed me different cuts she previously done. I FINALLY said just do what EVER you want and would look best to have healthy hair again. AGAIN she said are u sure? I was like YESSSSS. She literally told me to relax and take a deep breath then she worked her magic! Man what a great experienced! I NEVER knew I had curls like this! Can’t wait to go back in 6 months, and get the last pieces of straight hair. I def. recommend her ladies and gentlemen… but it is a dry cut meaning she cuts your hair in its natural state washes/​conditions and cuts what is necessary. Don’t be afraid, it’s well worth it. Lora Johnson is absolutely amazing! Her technique of cutting natural curly hair is phenomenal. Ladies she is the hair guru for all curly hair!
Prior before coming here, I try/​did the deva cut and I HATED it (my hair was still dead and lifeless «Capella Salon») so I was referred to by a friend who also started the natural hair journey, and I was blown away how beautiful and healthy her hair looked. So I decided to give her a shot. And hands down Mrs Johnson gave my hair life. The experience was like no other. Her method of cutting was very different from what I’m use to. She cuts the hair in its natural state, and takes the time to analyze the perfect shape and frame. Her ability by-​far surpassed my expectations. What I loved the most is how she takes the time to talk you through each step, allowing you to better understand your hair. I found this to be very helpful when styling your own curls. With my hair being so damaged, she gave me the confidence to embrace the short length. Do not let the race fool you, Lora Johnson knows exactly what she is doing. Again she is AMAZING!!!

Lora is the ONLY person I trust to cut my naturally curly hair. I have yet to find any «naturally curly expert» that uses her technique, which is quite honestly the best. Lora doesn’t simply cut hair, she shapes it too, which is what curly hair desperately needs to look it’s best. I have absolutely hated every haircut I had before finding Lora three years ago (that’s 23 years of bad hair, people!) but for the past three years my hair has been a source of pride for me thanks to her. I would highly recommend Lora if you have naturally curly hair, she is a miracle worker. I worry that I will never find anyone who cuts hair like her later on in life D: please don’t ever retire, Lora! Us curly girls need you!

This woman is phenomenal! Her method of cutting is revolutionary. Although her cutting style was extremely different, it was the most efficient cut I have ever received in my life. She cut my hair in its natural state and after that I was sold on her abilities. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical considering the ethnicity differences (most people who aren’t Black struggle with Black hair), but she got in there and knew exactly what she was doing. After the short two hour period, she wasn’t trying to push her products on me or anything, which I appreciated extremely. She did my hair interchangeably with someone else’s and got us both of us in and almost out quickly. Although she told me I wouldn’t have to come back for another year, I’m contemplating going back just for touch up styling. I don’t want to be away for that long!!! Thank you so much Ms. Johnson! Your a hair saver.

I went to Lora a couple of weeks ago and just wanted to share with everybody how amazing the whole experience was. To start out I called her and she called me right back and gave me next day appointment, what was great was that she asked me to bring all my hair products so she could go through them with me which she very patiently did painstakingly trying each and everyone on her hand and giving her input about each .
To start out her assistant mapped my face. I loved that technology, it helped her guide my cut according to my face structure not that I think Lora needs too much help. What I want to share with eveybody is the advice she gave me for dandruff. She taught me to actually bathe in a tub where I was soaking my hair for some time instead of shower and I think that does wonders for the problem if one can find the time to do it
Now coming to her cut, it was great, brought our my curls like never before and seemed so easy to do when she did it. She really is a miracle worker for curly hair. I had requested my front layers to be left a little longer and she did that on my request but after my hair dried I realized that they should have been shorter .She volunteered to reschedule me at another time to totally take care of that and I plan to go back to her for it. Infact she was sweet enough to offer another appointment to teach me also how to wear my hair straight without a charge .I got the feeling that she genuinely cared about me and it was not all about money. She even called me to follow up and and I definitely plan to return to her to utilize her offer for a return visit. No body tried to force me to buy stuff but on Loras recommendation I did got ahead and by a Kerastase shampoo which I have yet to use. I found Lora very genuine and she totally won me over and I think I am a client for life and you can expect to see more reviews from me on subsequent visits. Your search for a stylist to cut or dye, and just plain manage your curly hair is officially over! Whether you are black, white, mixed, purple, pink, or green whatever… Lora can style all different types of curly hair. I travel over 2 hours to see her. Trust her, she knows what she is doing! I’m mixed but my hair is no where near straight, I’m about a 3c and she hits the nail on the head every time. Make an appt. And just sit back and let this woman cut your hair. She has shaped my curls after horrible hair cuts, horrible dye jobs, it has been over processed and burnt; and she fixed it to look beautiful. I don’t really feel there is anything she can not handle that us curly girls have to offer. lol! You will fall in love!

One word for Lora… AMAZING!!! I have curly/​wavy/​frizzy hair that I have pretty much given up on managing until I found Lora and received the BEST cut I have ever had! She is so knowledgeable about hair types, textures, growth patterns, shapes, etc., she blew me away with how much she knew about MY hair and this was my first visit to her. Everything she said about my hair was spot on right down to the time frame when I started a new medication a few months ago that affected my hair… I was really impressed by that. She really listened and took the time to explain how my particular hair would behave with the cut we had discussed. She also went thru the different products I should use, what ingredients to look for and what they would do for my hair… and then gave me a lesson on how to style my hair… I left there armed and dangerous against my previously unruly hair. I am so in love with my gorgeous cut and color (also by Lora) that I can finally say my search is over, I found someone who KNOWS how to cut and style MY hair. and she’s so nice, too… bonus :) I can’t imagine anyone, with any type of hair, getting anything other than a amazing cut from Lora.

When I want to Lora I had really problematic, dry & overprocessed hair. Shes excellent with color correction changing my hair from orange to a pretty blonde and fixed the ends. My hair is finally healthy and has grown back long, shiny & still very blonde. She does excellent work and Ill never go to another hair dresser again! I’ve been going to Lora for three years now and I’m always satisfied by her perfectionist ways of getting my hair just how I wanted it. She’s a bit costly but definitely worth it. Hair cuts are $ 80 and up and color starts at $ 100 and up. She works at Ricciolo Salon in La Verne.
