Yo Dogs!

Great little place for a burger and/​or hot dog. Everyone working was super friendly and helpful. My 2 year old was with me and they gave her crayons and paper, stickers and a hat to stay entertained while we waited. The cheese fries were great and the Avocado burger was delicious.

Was empty (6:00 Friday night). The only man working (owner) was super friendly. Place was clean and Service was quick. Spa hotdog was good. Crab fries were excellent! Cheap dinner. Definitely give it a try!

This place used to be great. Good burgers and original hot dogs. They were closed recently and when we went back this weekend everything had changed. New menu with a lot less variety. The burgers were hard, the buns were different… yuck. Hot dogs looked gray (steamed) Used to have good fries but these were just generic fries. The people were also not the ones usually there. Something changed definitely for the worst

It says cards accepted, however, they prefer cash, fyi. We only had a card or cash that was a couple dollars short. The owner came out and explained to us that he preferred cash, and he took our couple dollars short cash over the card. I can understand not wanting to use cards for small businesses; I used to work in a small business and it’s absurd how much credit card companies charge to swipe their card. The owner was very accommodating and didn’t complain at all about our insufficient cash funds. I really appreciate a business like this. This is how you get customers for life! Food was excellent too! Garlic fries… they don’t call em «soon-​to-​be-​famous» for nothing! And the hot dogs are amazing!

Little spot up the way. Been thinking about stopping in and giving Yo a shot. I did and I felt it was ok. Nothing spectacular though. It is all about Hot Dogs. Which for me is a detraction. I like Hot Dogs. But, I love sausage. Which is what I thought they would also have as an option of meat selection. Nope. Just dogs. Okay so I roll with that. I had the Double-​Decker? It’s 2 dogs on 1 roll. With your choice of toppings. Hot dogs can be messy with the more you add to them. Be mindful this is not a meal you can drive and eat. Now, for some people the toppings makes the meal. Yo has toppings in aplomb. They have some drinks and a small selection of deserts. All in all it was good. I just wished they had a greater selection of pork.

Yo Dogs elevates the good ol’ hot dog that rarely gets a second thought in the Delaware Valley to the missing item in a Philly triumvirate of great foods on a roll (cheesesteak and roast pork being the other two, of course). I’ve been a fan of the Ger Dog but I was recently blown away by the Ike Mo. Who would’ve thought avocado on a hot dog would be so good? The service is always fast and friendly and it keeps me coming back to find something new to try on the menu.

I stopped by this joint from out of town and I loved it. This place is right by my friends house outside of phili great dogs, the avocado with mushroom one was great. Support small business!

So glad I got to finally try Yo Dogs! Really cool joint. Tons a awesome topping options. I got The Stet, which had cheese, chili, and raw onions, and The Ger Dog, with bleu cheese, sauteed onions and pancetta. Must say, both were delicious. I highly recommend The Stet, but would like to try it with the sauteed onions rather than the raw. As for the Ger Dog, Loved the onions and the pancetta, but it was a very strong bleu cheese, which is fine, but I’d like to see that with another cheese. Did notice after I ordered that they also have a dog wrapped in bacon, which I would love to try next time.
Yo Dogs also sells burgers and fries. Everything on the menu sounded great. I’d really like to give some of the fries a try because they have so many varieties. Everything from old bay to jerk to garlic fries. Wow.
Prices were ok. Run you about 3 – 4 dollars for one of their specialty dogs, but the toppings on them are amazing. We got 3 dogs and two bottled sodas for 13.75 so really not too bad or lunch for two at all.
Also noticed they had a little food competition on the wall where if you eat 6 of their specialty dogs in an hour you win a shirt and a picture on the wall. Will be trying that this summer. Only issue with that is by buying six dogs, you’re looking at nearly $ 20. I didn’t see any pictures on the walls so I wonder if anyone has tried it yet or not. I’d love to be the first.
Its quite warm inside, but there is seating outside. I’d like to see an umbrella or awning or something to help get some shade from the sun out there.
All together it was a great treat to finally try Yo Dogs. I’d love to go back again soon and try all those things I mentioned. If you’re a hot dog lover, give Yo Dogs a shot!

Great service and the side orders where good, but the actual hot dogs where disgusting, almost making me sick.

This place is so good! I’m very impressed with their selection and the fact that they cater to all tastes and diets. My gluten-​free friends can eat here without having to make substitutions or leaving things out, and I can get a delicious and complete vegetarian meal at a hot dog joint!
Also, the garlic fries are to die for.

I love me some Yo Dogs! The Ger dog, with pancetta, blue cheese and caramelized onions is perfection, and the Hustler burger with melted swiss, caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms is so very delicious! The people that own/​run it are friendly and helpful and honest. If they are out of a topping, or using different rolls, they always tell you so you don’t get home, open up your lunch and have something different then expected. When I was pregnant with my 2^nd baby they gave me a pink onesie with the logo on it, so very thoughtful and kind. In short, this is one of my favorite spots for a burger AND a dog! YUM

I went to Yo Dogs! the other day on my lunch break at work because I love going to places with great names and I love Hot Dogs. I got a couple of Chicago style dogs, but they definitely forgot to put a Pickle on one of them, which really nullifies the Chicago-​ness of the Dog by at least 40%. I also got fries and a soda, the fries were ok, they were a little too overdone for me. Other than that I had a very pleasant visit, its a cool little shop with a great logo and friendly purveyors. I’d definitely go back and try out some of the different types of Dogs they have on tap!

I just checked out Yo Dogs after seeing them on 10 News in the Morning and I must say I’m impressed. I enjoy the casual, dive type restaurant over the fancier entries, so this tiny place really fit the bill. It’s very small and the seating is stools at a bar sticking out of the wall, no tables. I had two different hot dogs, the cheese fries, and a root beer float. All of which was very good, but what really sealed the deal was the incredibly friendly service. The gentleman that took our order was very cool and even gave my baby daughter a free Yo Dogs bib. He also encouraged me to try the 6 Dog Eating Challenge, which I definately plan to.
You’ll see me back there for sure sometime soon to try out the burgers… it’s tough to get a good burger around Glenside! I recommend this place highly for good, dive food.

I went to Yo Dogs for the first time today and had a GREAT burger; the Ryan Howard Grand Slam burger, which was basically a bacon cheeseburger with the works. The burger was big and juicy, the bacon was crispy, and the tomato was thick cut and very fresh.
Though I haven’t tried the dogs, I did notice that they now feature a contest– eat 6 dogs or burgers and you get a free t-​shirt. I wasn’t hungry enough for it today, but I’ll definitely be back to try my luck. However, I can’t imagine that anyone would be able to do 6 burgers-​one was more than enough for me. On the other hand, 6 dogs would be fine.
In summary, GREAT, big burgers. I’ll add to this review once I can comment on the fries and dogs.

Yo Dog serves gluten-​free hamburger and hotdog buns for all my celiac/​glutino friends. Their fries are also GF. I had the Chi-​town dog which was great on a regular bun. Excellent service and super friendly staff. I’ll be back.

If your product is in your company name, then the product better be good. The hot dogs at ‘Yo Dogs’ are not good, you can make better at home quite easily. They use cheap gloppy sauces, the buns are nothing special, and they’re not cheap. The service is odd too: the place was empty when I was there, but the service was still slooooooooow. The whole thing — food, service, atmosphere — is just unprofessional. A friend of mine and I were talking about ‘Yo Dogs’ recently and we both agree that is almost laughably bad, he referred to the service as «lackadaisical.» ‘Johnny’s Dog House’ in Wayne is SO much better.

When I first heard of a hot dog shop opening up near me I was confused. How could a hot dog shop work out? But after visiting Yo Dogs I can see the dream!
The burgers are handformed, generous burgers. The breads are Le
Bus, so their amazing as well. They use pancetta bacon which adds a great flavor. They have fresh hand cut fries in many varieties and they even have salads and cupcakes!!!

I was really surprised to find a few vegetarian options here. I was stopping in with some meat eating friends just to watch them chow down, but then I saw they had a carrot dog! and a black bean burger too! So, I got the burger with fries.
The fries were good. I like the several options of seasonings and toppings. I don’t see that offered at many places.
But the Black bean burger was delicious! It was obviously homemade. big and hearty. I will say though… It didn’t taste at all like a black bean burger. Maybe I just stopped in on a weird day, but it was more like a seitan-​ish burger. Either way, it was yummy. The bun was good and fresh. I was told it came from the local bakery — Baker Street Bread.
SO, with all of their burgers (and hot dogs) they have a variety of toppings and variations of burger styles. and this can be applied to the veggie burger and veggie dog also. So there are a lot of options.
It’s a tiny place, but it’s cute. They close early though for me. I wish I would have known about them sooner. I would never had guessed they were so good.

The burgers and fries are perfection. Oddly enough, the hot dogs I had here tasted terrible, especially the Chicago dog, which has huge chunks of romaine lettuce. But oh, those burgers. I wish they were open later — can’t always get there in time since they close at 7:00.

Yo Dogs! loses a star…
Hamburgers are actually about half the menu at Yo Dogs! and now I’ve had their burgers twice. The first time I got my burger to go and I was disappointed to find that the bun was completely dry, that is, no mayo, ketchup, or mustard. The second time I made sure to specify that I wanted mayo and ketchup. What I got was one packet of ketchup wrapped up with the burger, no mayo, and still no sauce at all on the bun. In addition, both times the burger was pretty rare. While rare steak is perfectly safe, rare burgers are less so (former Food Science major here); no one should be served a rare burger unless they specify that’s what they want. Don’t get me wrong, it was juicy and delicious (and actually that helped make up for the lack of sauce). When I’m asked how I want my burger cooked, I always specify medium; if I’m not asked, I assume it’s the restaurants policy to cook the burger all the way through (I don’t think any of the major fast food chains will ever intentionally serve you a burger that isn’t cooked all the way through, even if you ask for it). I think I’ll stick with the hot dogs if I go back.
