Stateway Auto Transport

My family and I just moved to IL from CA and we were shopping around for places that will transport our vehicle. STATEWAY was one that popped up on my screen and once I called they didn’t stop calling me. I didn’t look much into the reviews (big mistake) so I called and spoke with a really nice guy who made me feel comfortable and made the company sound super reliable. They gave me a quote and it was $ 795 ($ 195 upfront to Safeway and the other $ 600 directly to the driver at drop off). Boy was I fooled… once I gave them my credit card info they charged the $ 195 right away. On pick up day I couldn’t get a hold of them at all!!! They said I will get updates on everything that was going on –_​– how will they give me updates when I can’t even get in contact with them??? I have no idea who’s picking up my car or when they will be picking it up. Finally, my husband looked at the BBB and consumer affairs website and STATEWAY had so many complaints about being fraudulent and not tendering services after they had a hold of customers credit card information. We did everything we needed to do to make sure our credit card company knew this was a fraudulent company and even our credit card company knew of STATEWAYS history. STAY CLEAR AWAY!!! You have been warned…

I talked to Mike, numerous times and he quoted me $ 795 from CA to CO. He told me that they would pick up my car on Monday so, I called on Saturday to confirm. Mike told me he was waiting on quotes from 3 drivers. What!!! I thought I was all set up already. He then said to give him until Monday. I told him I needed to know before that since I was flying out on Wednesday. He was going to get something arranged and call me by the end of the day (4 hours later.) Of course he never called me back and I’m screwed! Thanks for nothing!!! Stay away from these liars. They should be used for misrepresentation. I wonder how they’re staying in business?!

I used them based on a recommendation from a friend. I needed my car transported from CA to VA and was given an estimated drop off date in Virginia. I scheduled my plane tickets based on their given date, and checked in almost daily for the progress and location of my car, and one day they told me that it was going to be 3 days early than the scheduled arrival! I told them I couldn’t possibly be there to pick up the car and they said they could leave it at a lot that I would have to pay for. The most frustrating part of the whole experience was their communication. My emails and phone calls would consistently go unanswered, and every time I reached someone it was a different person who was not aware of the situation. The actual transport of my car, I believe, was contracted to another company called Skyline. It was a nightmare going back and fourth between the two companies who both seem to push the responsibility onto the other party.
Just stay away.

I hired Stateway to ship a car for me and they quoted me one price and then bumped me $ 100 for expedited pick up. They didn’t pick up the car when they said they were going to. Then came back and said they can’t get it unless I pay another $ 300. I obviously told them that I wasn’t interested in using them anymore because they kept bumping the price and over promising. Come to find out that they charged my credit card 20 days later for $ 145, now I am having to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
Do not use this company, They will lie to you and then steal from you!

They will quote you lower than any other company, but when it comes time to ship they will raise the price about $ 200 telling you they cannot find another driver. Also, I scheduled a date for my car to be picked up and no one ever came or even called. Takes weeks to be picked up!

Absolute one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. No one answers, bunch of dishonest liars that work there. Am absolutely shocked they are in business. No clue how it is possible. Would NEVER use again.
They have an F by the Better Business Bureau. Wish I had seen that before. Very accurate and well earned grade.

Buyer beware, Buyer beware!!! Don’t not use this company for anything. First they didn’t pick up my vehicle and when the sales rep offered to expedite the service, she said it would cost me an extra $ 300. Clearly she doesn’t understand business 101, when a business screws up its their responsibility to rectify the issue. Instead of trying to fix the situation she said she hopes I will will use their company in the future. Not only will I not use this company I will inform every soldier not to use this his company. Btw, I deal with soldiers that looks for vehicle shipping everyday. Do not use this company SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM.

This company is a FRAUD. They take your money and never deliver. No call back, over promise and never deliver! I will report a negative review on the central shipping system as well as BBB. You’ve done many people wrong I see. Being a 1% I will make sure to follow through and let everyone know how you do your clients.

I highly recommend Stateway auto transport. Emily, Tricia, and Lidia assisted me the entire time. I shipped my car from Herndon, VA to San Diego, CA this week. My reservation made over the phone early May 2015, prompt email of order, prompt dispatcher calling me, and the two drivers came on time and loaded my car nicely. Great job, thanks to everyone!

This is the 3^rd time we’re using Stateway Auto to ship our cars for our snowbird move back home, and for the 3^rd time we are very satisfied!
We always deal with Anna, and as always, she was fantastic. We booked the return trip last October, and when I called last week at 2am to leave a message, i was shocked and surprised when Dawn actually answered that late. Never knew they offered ²⁴⁄₇ customer support, which is wonderful, but the best part was Dawn informing me that not only have our cars already been assigned to a driver but that our original quoted price DROPPED BY $ 100!!!
So thank you Anna, and the entire Stateway team for once more exceeding our expectations and making this yet another easy and smooth shipment. I’m beyond thankful that we found you guys, the amount of time you take to work out the kinks and make sure your customers are satisfied is what will keep us coming back year after year.
Awesome price, fast response, even faster delivery, and simply a pleasure to do and give business to! I did have a chance to read some of the negative reviews and was pretty surprised so I’m just really happy that we keep having good experiences!

I highly recommend Stateway auto transport. Jessica was my rep and she was the best. She was very easy to work with and made sure the entire process ran smoothly.

Long Story Short: No outside numbers to contact dispatch /​account services. If the only number they provide and are «allowed» to give out is sales what priority do they have in making sure you are taken care of after they have your money?
received surgery to repair my leg on the 4^th of March which prompted me to speak with Safeway Auto Transport the following week about shipping my truck out to South Carolina. I received and initial quote on the the 8^th for a pickup on the 13^th. The quote was for $ 549 but as a learned later that was for a 60 day shipping window. I spoke with Emily and she said that for a pickup on the 13^th the quote would be $ 875. I spoke with her on the 12^th confirming the pickup and was told that they had to charge $ 175 and that the pickup would be by 2pm Pacific. On Friday the 13^th, my Dad called me at 3pm Pacific stating no one had came by or contacted him with a time. I called back and left a message with Emily. I called again and spoke with a different Gentleman who gave me the contact info of the driver. The Driver had no idea of the pickup and referred me to their dispatch office. The dispatch office said they declined the job and would not be picking up the truck. I was able to get a hold of Emily right before closing time and she said she would look into it and call me back right away. I did not receive a call back that night. I called and spoke with another Women who helped me on the 14^th. She explained that it was a 7 day window and not to worry and that Emily would get with me shortly. Emily called back on Saturday letting me know that their was a standard window and not to worry and that she understood my timeline in getting back to work and needing the truck in order to do so. Emily informed me that the Sales and Dispatch Supervisor where looking into it and that they would be calling me to let me know the details of whats going on. I called and spoke with Emily on the 17^th and she assured me she was looking into it and was going to call me back. After numerous phone calls and emails I have not been able to get in touch with her. I finally was able to get a hold of Tim. Tim promised to look into the matter and said that there was a problem with Dispatch that he would sort out. He assured that he had all my contact info and that although his shift ended soon that he would give me a call back. Following the routine I did not get a call back that day.
I was able to get a hold of Tim on the 18^th and told him I would be cancelling my order. He informed me that since it was dispatched I would not be receiving a refund. We spoke about the problems getting dispatched and he said that he understood but that he works again in the sales department and all he can do is take down my info. I asked to be transfered to the Dispatch office to speak with them and he said he could not do that. I then asked since I haven’t been contacted by them with any issues that they where having what else was I supposed to do? He agreed and said that I needed to wait for the accounting office to contact me. I asked to speak with them or a number to call them and he said there was none. I replied with asking «How are they going to be able to call me without a phone?» to which he responded «It is against policy to give out this information» and he continued on that he was sorry but there was nothing more he could do and that I would just have to wait.
I’m not waiting. I’ve gone with someone else and I urge you to do the same.

This was an outstanding transaction. I was very skeptical because I read several reviews about transporting vehicles but didn’t find any regarding stateway auto. I asked many questions when I was first contacted and each question was answered in full. There was no pressure to go with them versus other companies. Another company was telling me that it was impossible to have my truck shipped from CA to TX for such a little price. He was shocked when he called back to find out that it happened. My whole experience was outstanding! I highly recommend and they gave me a military discount. My shipment from start to finish was very professional and a great experience. My wife has to ship her car 3 months from now and guess what company I’m going utilize. That’s right-​Statewide Auto Transport…

I too agree with the other two most recent reviews. I contacted Stateway via their website to have a car shipped. I’ve shipped vehicles in the past with other companies and never had an issue and this includes a coast to coast transport. However, Stateway scheduled my original transport outside my stated time frame. It took three voicemails (because they have never once answered their phone) and a returned call to cancel that pickup. As my date neared, I hadn’t heard form Stateway so again left seven, yes seven, voicemails and sent six emails to both their customer service box as well as their «emergency management» email and have yet to ever hear back from them to even cancel the pickup! I ultimately reported their «deposit» fee to my bank as fraud and was forced to get a new debut card right in the middle of a 1500 mile move.
I’d pay a homeless man to drive my car before I will ever reach out to this organization again.

Update. Cancelled my order on 2÷16÷15. They never called or showed up. Just wasted 3 weeks of my shipping time in which I had to rent a car to get around that cost me $ 800
I payed on 1÷26÷15. Today is 2÷14÷15 three weeks later. My car has not even been «scheduled» to be picked up leave alone being shipped. They promise you a schedule in 7 working days and then just make excuses after excuses when you call. First 2 weeks nobody called or returned my numerous calls. I have no idea how they got high ratings on Consumer Affairs. They must have rigged their employees to post good reviews on Consumer Affairs. I will never trust the reviews on Consumer Affairs again. Shameful!!!

I used them to ship my Tesla from California to Austin and they are horrible. Don’t let the nice website fool you. They are just a broker. They will take your order and charge your credit card a % of the total. Then they will send the worst truck /​driver to ship your car and the driver will make you pay the balance in all cash (shady).
When I got my car there was a deep scratch on the hood of my car, the outside was covered in grease and the cloth part of the inside was also covered in grease. I called them about this and they are being completely unresponsive. I paid for insured & enclosed transport and now they are not willing to take care of this issue.
Do not use this company for your auto transport.

We recently bought a car for our daughter’s sweet 16 and needed to make sure it arrived the day of her birthday from North Carolina to California. The car was picked up one day early and delivered as requested on November 6^th the day of her birthday. The driver called as he was a couple miles away from the house, so my husband and I can come out and put a big red bow on the car for her. Overall everything went great better than I expected. The price was perfect, communication was flawless and we managed to pull off a great surprise with no delays or any difficulties. Everything was wonderful service, was outstanding. Staff was knowledgeable, answered all your questions and we would definitely recommend them to family, friends and others.

After working with TWO of their reps/​customer service over the course of two weeks I was promised a smooth process and door to door delivery. They kept me waiting for driver arrival confirmation twelve days. It was a week before my cross country move. Finally two days late, the driver they subcontracted to (yes, unlike what they claim they lie, they do NOT use their own drivers/​trucks) admitted to having been awake 36 hours and was three states away when he was supposed to be picking my car up that evening at the latest… Plus I would have to meet him in a WalMart parking lot (not my house as agreed to with Stateway). He NEVER showed up calling at nine pm then midnight to say he had to «run to another drop two states away before he would be in my state».
They also want CASH or a bank check for the bulk of payment (should’ve been a red flag).
I could go on and on. ABSOLUTELY do not use them. Ignore their fake reviews. Check out who is reviewing. I wasted my last week on an opposite coast and now am having to ship my car out with another car company remotely. They are not listed with the BBB or I would file a complaint there too — Oh, and the DBA is Tutle (fyi).

Shipping with Stateway Auto was the worst ordeal I’ve ever dealt with of any company. Non-​stop excuses, brokered to a horrible trucker who didn’t speak English and delivered to the wrong state, became belligerent when trying to get the car, and almost took off with it. Stateway did not return calls during the retrieval process of my car until after it was done. Don’t try their «emergency line», it’s a joke (or email for that matter). Finally got ahold of Adam and were told he would get a manager on it and get in touch with us. Two weeks later and no contact. So I post a negative review for their bad communication and service and all of the sudden they contact me! Not about getting my car delivered to the wrong state, but about having the review taken down.
Excuses after excuses by this company. They only care about their reviews, not customer service. They claimed I was never even a customer, to which I proved I was with credit card translation, dispatch order, and contract, plus many emails stating I was. What kind of company has NO RECORD of their clients after two weeks??? Communication was tried through text from them, very unprofessional for a company. We came to an agreement with them to fix our complaint, we followed through with our part of the deal but they flaked as soon as my review was removed.
Dishonest company, horrible customer service, unprofessional, brokering to the most unbelievably bad truckers. They are every nightmare you will ever have about shipping a vehicle! Pay for the better companies.
Stay away from «Stateaway Auto».
