Every so often I will come in here for holiday décor items, frames, and mounting hardware. The wait is longer than it should be at the registers — it seems like there is always some issue with pricing/​coupons and even if they call extra sales associates to come to the front, nobody ever comes. There are also very few people on the floor and the ones who *are* working never make eye contact and act like they just don’t care or want to be there.
The last time I was there, one of the associates was re-​stocking the faux floral arrangements and was oblivious that her cart was blocking the aisle, so everyone was squeezing by and saying «excuse me» while she just stood there with a blank look on her face.
The management is incompetent as every time I have witnessed some sort of customer complaint (which is pretty much every time I am there), they spew the typical «sorry» with a roll of the eyes.
Other than that, prices are reasonable and they have a great selection of whatever you are looking for, be it frames, storage baskets, kids items, paper, flowers, decorative accents, apothecary jars, craft items, etc.

This store is so poorly managed! Everytime I go here I can never find anyone to help me because there is no one on the floor. When I do finally fine someone… they are 95% always rude or unhelpful!!! They Don ‘the even bother showing you where it is or even simply telling the aisle number. They ‘ll just say it’s by the whatever… like I know where that is.
Checking out is always a nightmare too. There is barely anyone ever in the store Anna top have that kind of wait everytime is seriously ridiculous! Most of the time it ‘s not even worth it to me and I just leave. I only but like a one or two things when I go here but usually everyone else is buying all sorts of things that ALWAYS need a prove check UGH! Get it together Michael!

I have to tell you, this place knows everything you need to know about pulling it all together for the holidays. Whether in-​home decorating or party planning, you can bet they have it. And the holiday stuff is always so insanely well organized.
I’ve been planning a really big community event — my annual holiday house gathering, and I have to say they have everything a gal could want. This time of year they launch their holiday product line full price, and then when the sales hit the sales really hit!
For the holidays, this is also great place to get your paper products for custom card-​making. I come here anytime I need bulk notecards and envelopes. They have so many different package options to choose from, that it can make it a big challenging to choose — because I want them all.
As far as decorations, you’ll find anything and everything you need from faux trees, wreaths, ornaments, and their amazing selection of any kind of foam sticker you can imagine (50% off). Tip: Wait for the 50% off sale, because it’s worth it. The wrapping paper, although the selection is nothing like you’ll find at Target, is always 50% off.
Just like the holidays, their product goes fast. And, this year for some reason it went really fast. Get in there now if you need anything!

Decent selection of materials for arts & crafts. They didn’t have the some of the hardware I was looking for my last project. They are usually short staffed which leads to long lines at the register and no one to help you find stuff.
They always have coupons in the Sunday paper for 40% off one full priced item. Sometimes they have 50% off one full priced item. They also accept coupons from their website or app.

I needed some frame work done to a couple of canvases I ordered as well as a thinner type of art that I painted myself. I was looking on-​line at different options and someone had told me that Michaels does framing for a great price.
They sure do!
The canvases I brought in were 8×10 and .5 inches think, so for those, I just picked out frames that were ready to go. I decided to have one done there, and another frame I took home to do it myself. My only complaint is the sales person who was very helpful, rang up a different frame than I needed, so I needed to make a couple extra trips, but that’s not a big deal. The cost to get the canvas put in by the staff was an extra $ 3, which is a great deal! You leave your info with them, they say it usually takes 1 – 3 business days depends on how busy they are, and they call you when it’s ready. For $ 3, it is definitely worth it because they do a very clean and professional job and both times, my canvas was ready the very next day.
The thinner painting I brought in took longer (around 2 weeks) because I picked out a custom frame. There are so many options to choose from, but the one I picked couldn’t have been more perfect and it looks amazing. It did cost more, but that’s a given.
They have great prices and they always have coupons laying on the counter for frames or after you make a purchase. There is an entire two or three isles devoted to all types of cute frames as well as all kinds of posters and metal prints — good for gifts. for anyone on your list.
I’ve only been to this Michaels for frame work, but the customer service has been great each time, and in the past month, I may have been there a good 4 – 5 times. My only complaint is that after 6 pm, there is only one person at the counter, so it does take some time before anyone gets to me, especially since it’s not just a quick ring up at the register.
I will def be back here for any frame work in the future… and probably sooner than later because I have a 16×20 waiting to be brought in. I recommend anyone who needs any kind of work done to check this place out first because it seems to a cheaper and better option than most other places i looked at.

They have a great selection of crafts here. Everytime my kids have needed something for a project at school we have found what they need. The staff is also very accommodating if you engage them. Today I checked in on Four Square on the way out. The Four Square special was 20 percent off. Although we had already paid, I went back in and Tanya, the Cashier had no problem taking the 20 percent off. She also threw in one of the items on her. It was only a ten cent egg we needed for my son’s chick project at school.

I just want to say, Michaels is a great place to shop, you literally find everything you need. BUT, don’t expect the staff to either greet you (who cares about the greeting anyway lol) or help you. I’ve been to this glenview location 3 times now, and I always have unpleasant girls at the register. they could be a little more friendly. engage with clients! ask what projects they’re working on! I swear ladies, if you do, and add a little lip gloss to that unhappy face, your day will go soooo much faaaster! I’m done venting. thanks for reading!

What is it with the receipts at this store? They are worse than Jewel, and that is really saying something. I purchased a single regular-​priced item for $ 0.79 plus tax, and my receipt was 19 inches long! Yes, I measured.
Stop wasting paper, Michael’s!

Good place to pick up odds and ends for any projects — especially if you’re working with grade school students. Good variety of photo albums and the like too. Friendly and accessible staff.
I tend to agree with Ali’s review about framing services. I had a coupon for a picture that I wanted to get framed, but really didn’t want anything too special or to pay all that much. Well, when it was all said and done, I felt as if I had paid for a full service framing store. They did do a decent job, but I really didn’t get the discount I had hoped to get. And (though there was not a need to rush) the wait was about a week and a half — longer than what most framing stores would offer.

While I am NOT a fan of the ‘burbs, man-​o-​man do I covet their shopping! You see, all I got near me to supply my creative urges is freakin’ JoAnn Fabrics. Don’t get me wrong… I’m glad to have that for the occasional crafty supply. But JoAnn is TOTALLY one of those places that tries to be too many things and ends up sucking at all of them. Stick ‘em in a relatively small, high-​rent urban location and you get the trifecta of crappy retail selection.
I had previously thought that if I were gonna venture out to the ‘burbs for inexpensive crafty fair that Hobby Lobby was my place. Fuck Hobby Lobby. If it’s remotely possible for a craft supply store to have class, Michael’s has it: a great selection of high-​quality stuff at fair-​to-​low prices.
On the other hand, this place is hideously dangerous… kinda like IKEA where everything is SO CHEAP that you don’t think twice about throwing «it» into your cart and, before you know it, you’re in the checkout line, cart full having nickel-​and-​dimed yourself to death.
Yeah…I like this place. My self-​control and wallet do NOT.

I love Michael’s for the strange little project I might have going on, or random creative urges I get to make something… with the 40% it is a real steal! I can get lost in the aisles thinking of projects I could be doing or getting inspired… often I end up spending lots of money and not actually making or doing whatever I intend to do though. Great place for ribbons around the holidays and odds and ends for various projects.
As for their framing services, definitely don’t do it without a coupon. I also felt a little pressured to decide, we wanted to price out a project, and the woman behind the counter was most definitely not pleased so instead of dealing with her attitude, we just got our project done there. I generally prefer other frame stores, so we probably won’t go back. With the 55% off coupon, I think the pricing is comparable to other frame stores, however, full price I’d neever in a million years get my stuff framed there. I also find staff at other specialty frame shops more helpful when looking at options.

This store is remarkable because it sells almost every kind of craft supply available in addition to offering a full service custom and readymade framing department. Ceramics, wire sculpture, scrapbooking, woodworking, painting and sewing projects are a sampling of what you might find there. Whether you are a knitter, someone who enjoys beading or a talented individual who wants to custom decorate a birdhouse, hand sew a Halloween outfit or put together your own silk floral display, Michaels has the supplies you need.
Crowded aisles at this location made it awkward to get around or out of the way. One of employees practically ran into us as he was ushering in shopping carts from the front sidewalk for use within the store. TIP: In the Sunday newspaper you can usually find a 40% off coupon for one full price item – a real bargain!
