Northshore Nails and Day Spa

I’ve been going here for over a year now and I love it. The people are super friendly and always do excellent work. I’ve had a variety of services, all excellent! I highly recommend!

Went here for a gel manicure and regular pedicure through a Groupon. Both were terrible. They don’t carry any of the newer colors and all bottles of polish looked old. The nail polish on my toes is streaky and uneven and doesn’t cover my whole nail. The tech barely did any work on my heels and other rough skin and it shows. Same for the gel manicure— there are uneven coverage spots on every nail. In addition, she had me soak my nails in water bowl before doing a gel manicure (which I questioned because I understood you never soak in water before) and then when I was leaving, she wanted to spray drying oil on my gel manicure, (Totally unnecessary with a gel manicure). Clearly didn’t know what she was doing.
Decorating is quite outdated with terra coat colored walls and bad Chrismas décor… but the owner was pleasant, the music was nice and the massage chair was very good.

You better hope that everything goes exactly according to plan and there are no circumstances outside your control, like half a dozen car crashes on the highway because it’s drizzling, because these people don’t care at all and won’t reschedule even if you reasonably call ahead to inform them of all of the above. Also the «manager» sounds like a ditzy receptionist I would’ve fired. Guess I’ll stick to places I know in the future. Disappointing.

Drove past here for years but it took a Groupon to get me in the door. This is not your typical pedi-​chairs-​in-​a-​line-​against-​one-​wall place. Your pedi is in a separate room just for you and they speak English. A nice change. Everything here is serene. They offer herbal tea, you choose your own aromatherapy herbs for your pedi (no extra charge, thank you), the spa salt scrub is standard (my former place charges $ 15 more), and their massages are great. My pedi lasted super long. Have been back 3 times now so the Groupon worked. Check online for specials & coupons but don’t hesitate to go at full price. It’s well worth it.

The BEST day spa around. I love everything about this place. They are clean, friendly, prompt, VERY knowledgable. I have tried many services: manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, waxing, eyebrow and eyelash dying. Everything about this wonderful place has me coming back to try another service. I would HIGHLY recommend this Glenview gem, located in Carillon Square.

Had a wonderful mani/​pedi last week — the spa is so relaxing! I had the groupon deal, but will definitely be back. It’s a week later and my mani/​pedi still looks great — no chips and I have not been very nice to my nails. The ladies were all lovely, friendly and did a great job. I loved the herbal tea pedicure and massages. I managed to screw up one of my nails in the dryer and it was immediately fixed by my tech. This is a great spa to come to if you want to be alone as there isn’t a lot of group space. Each pedicure station is a single room, so hard to have a «girls» pedicure day. There are three nail stations, so you could sit together there if you came with a friend. Overall, this is a great place and I look forward to my next visit!

I had a wonderful Swedish Massage today with Neecia. forgive my spelling :)
When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly gentleman and owner. They sat me by a sofa lounger area was small but quaint with cozy ambiance. The area was doubled as lounge slash nail drying area which was kinda tight while I waited a few minutes for my therapist. I was led to a red door and room was small with track lighting, a nice shelving unit with plants and candles and soft music.
My therapist had me start face down and proceded to apply light pressure to warm up my tissues. 25 minutes alone on the back I would have liked more time applied on arms but she was phenomenal and legs she said she do on the opposite side.
On the flip, lights were dimmed and she proceded with the legs 3 minutes on the thighs great pressur 5 on feet and 2 on each calf. She worked my fingers and forearms about 8 minutes and on to the neck. I was nodding off but awoken by a very fragrant steams aroma of lavender was nice but kinda in your face suprise. I would have liked shoulders done but was a pass and a light massage on my décolletage area was kinda nice.
She ended with a quick scalp and face massage and what seemed like reiki for a finish was very pleasant.
Neecia had a great personality and definitely does great back work. Definitely a 60 minute massage.

Just got a FANTASTIC mani pedi here today with a groupon deal. The staff is very nice and welcoming, and Abby did a great job. I usually somehow manage to screw up and smudge my nail polish by the time I make it to my car but Abby made sure it was fully dry! There were other customers here who have been coming here for years — signs of an awesome salon!
I will absolutely come back because their Tuesday mani pedi deals are very good, too.

I just stopped coming here because the last couple times weren’t up to par.
The last visit, my nails were over 50% chipped not even a week later. Over time, I noticed my big toe nail develop a dry texture I’ve never experienced before, and I think it might have to do with the nail tools that are shared and used from client to client. When I had my teal polish removed prior to a french mani for my wedding, I had to make a comment to the woman a couple times because there was teal residue on the side of a couple of my nails, and who wants to see that under a french mani?
I did like the different promotions ($ 5 off or a special deal on a combo service) that came through via email. Currently in search of a new nail salon though…

This spa seems to truly care about their customers and you can tell because there are a lot of repeat customers. It is a little more expensive than others, but the quality is friendly staff make it worth it. I’ve only had a facial and mani/​pedis here and were satisfied and happy with them. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to treat myself to a pampering too often but when I do — I would come back here.
One last thing, I love that I can make an appointment online. It’s a great convenience!

Got a Groupon for a massage and pedicure.
Because of a reminder message snafu, I had to split the appointments across weekends. Shimmy provided both services. The pedicure was lovely, relaxing. It has lasted a full month without chipping. The massage was also very relaxing, and if I could get another one at a discount I’d definitely go back.
Shimmy is really sweet and very attentive – she actually zipped up my coat for me because I was juggling things. WAY above and beyond.
The entry area, however, is awkward. There’s no comfortable waiting space, everything feels quite cramped. Everyone kind of just looks at you when you come in, and the gentleman at the front desk isn’t all that clear in telling you what you should do or where you should go.
I may go back and try an organic no-​chip here.

I bought a Groupon for a 60 minute Swedish massage at Northshore Nails and Day Spa. To make a long story short, it was not a 60 minute massage. My appointment was 6 to 7. We started around 6:15 and ended around 6:55. The massage felt nice but if I am paying for 60 minutes, I expect 60 minutes. I don’t care if it was a Groupon, they’re not going to get people to come back if they’re being cheated out of time. Needless to say I’m not going back.

I will first start off saying the staff is very friendly! Unfortunately, I got a massage, that I had purchased through Groupon, and it was not a great experience. It was a 60-​minute swedish massage. The women I had was super nice but not sure how much/​or any experience she has as a masseuse. I considered leaving early because the massage was unpleasant. I have never had a bad massage except this one. It didn’t hurt, but she had no idea what she was doing. This was my last trip to this place.

I came here today for a birthday facial from my boyfriend. No one mentioned my birthday at all, although my boyfriend had specifically mentioned this in the note when he made the reservation. Sonia, the girl who did my facial, was very nice and offered me a beverage before starting. When I mentioned to her that I was going out tonight for my birthday, she wished me happy birthday but only because of the mention. I enjoyed my facial, but was not explained what was being put on my face except for when I asked. I believe that, due to a language barrier, Sonia was unable to explain this to me. I did manage to get her to at least tell me what brands of product she was using (Image and Dermalogica). After my facial, my bangs were messed up so I asked the man at the front if I could fix them in the bathroom. I had brought my blow dryer and a brush for it. The bathroom, however, had no outlet, so I asked if I could use an outlet in another room or in the hall. The man then told me that I couldn’t because another facial had started. I find this unacceptable. Due to one of the salon’s services, my hair was messed up, and I did not want to walk out of the salon looking terrible. There was an outlet in full sight and plenty of outlets in the front room, not next to the facial room, where I could have blown my bangs dry for literally ONE MINUTE OR LESS. This is terrible customer service, let alone on my birthday. I thank my boyfriend for the thoughtful gift but will go elsewhere next time.

I had my first facial in my life with Sonya, and I love the way my skin looks and feels after it. Such a pleasant girl, her voice was relaxing enough, then add the music and the super gentle face massage and treatment I received. I would come back.

Not sure why I haven’t reviewed before, but I visited again and realized I hadn’t written.
This is a great spot, friendly, clean and has online booking (really useful). I admit, I’m not in the area much anymore, but it is a hidden gem on Waukegan Road.

Today I tried Northshore Nails and Day Spa for a mani –pedi. It’s located in the corner of the strip mall by Lalo’s Mexican Restaurant. I was in search of a place open till 7pm. I was very impressed with the quality of service. I was greeted promptly upon arrival and treated to a cup of tea. I chose the jasmine tea. I then perused the color choices. Next I chose an herbal tea for my foot soak. I felt that was nice touch from the traditional salt soaks and I was giving a warm neck wrap while I relaxed in the massage chair. It was very relaxing as well. I like that the foot soak stations is a separate rooms so you really get a chance to unwind. Once my pedicure was done by Hang, she escorted me to the manicure station and she refreshed my neck wrap. Once my manicure was done I sat in the drying area and received a nice shoulder massage.
The day spa is a lovely, colorful and relaxing space. Tim the owner is extremely friendly and goes out of his way to make sure every guest is comfortable. While I was there I met a woman who’s been going to them on and off for over 7 years. That says a lot about their service and quality as a salon.
The spa does offer a Loyalty Program and they accept SpaFinder gift cards.
I look forward to returning to the day spa to try their other services.

I’ve been back for a facial and massage which were both meh. I didn’t like that a Korean pre-​moistened, individually packaged facial cloth was used on me! It’s like $ 1 at H Mart. But I like that you can reserve an appointment online.

Reason why I go to this spa:
Everyone there are all so sweet. They give me tips to keep my nail healthier, gives me many different options to relex (teas, shoulder massage (this os awesome!) And great relexing music…) pedicure is unbelievable. They have many different herbals for pedicure water. Where else does that? Reason why one star is missing because seems like they dont get new colors quick enough for me to get colors that I saw from this months magazine. But not that they dont have colors, im a girl who needs new colors when I see it from the mag. Im super picky but, i go here. I love thjs spa. love the shoulder pack massage I get while im getting my manis too. (From frontdesk girl) they treat you like a sisters/​brothers (I saw many guys getting mani in this place) double the points!

Went there in May for pedicure.
Reception and taking of appointment was efficient.
When I arrived tho, I had to wait for about 15 minutes.
My pedi was done by Laura. She was ok but seemed to just go through the motions of the process without enthusiasm of any sort — quick run-​thru everything (clean, cut, quick massage which was over and done in like 20 seconds, paint, done). No feeling of being in a «spa». while i sat at the area to have my toes dried she did like under-​a minute worth of loud back slapping. For the money I paid and the waiting despite my arriving on time for my appointment, i did not feel pampered at all. I guess the pedi was alright but I will not be coming back.

Last minute Coup Recoup deal for the win! $ 30 was an absolute steal for the wonderful facial and pedicure I experienced. Unfortunately, can’t remember the esthetician’s or technician’s names but the facial felt incredibly soothing and sleep-​inducing :)
The cherry on top was the mini massage they gave while my nails dried!
