We loved this place, and are sad to see it replaced by a chain establishment. Great gelato, amazing crepes, great coffee, sandwiches, & soups. We never minded making the drive just for dessert. This place will be missed!

STOP ! $ 6.27 for 2 small scoops of gelato? Now compelled to write a review/warning. This is an extremely expansive Gelato, I asked the person behind the counter to be a bit more generous but the dirty cheep *&^$^& refused. I gave a questionable 2 stars, only do to a semi nice lunch my wife and I had there in the past.

My favorite place to go when i’m in that area. The gelato is delicious and they have lots of choices. They have savory and desert crepes but I’ve always default to their gelato!

Via Gelato is a cute gelato bar and café with a much larger menu than I expected. I stopped in around 9 p.m. to get some gelato and they had a live blues band playing. It was kind of loud for the small space, but we ate outside so it definitely added to the experience. There were about 20 or so flavors of gelato– something to satisfy everyone’s taste. I tried a sample of the mango habañero and decided to go with the peanut butter chocolate instead. So tasty! My mom had the red velvet cake gelato and it was delicious as well. I’m definitely going to have to return to try out their soups, salads, and paninis. Summary: cute, tasty gelato, serves café style cuisine as well, definitely give it a try!

Great gelato and the last time we were there on a Friday night they had high school students playing a jazz quartet — nice touch. We will return to try some of the salads and sandwiches.

What a cute little place for some gelato! I came here on a not so warm night because one of my friends said we had to stop in. I was glad we did. I bought the small size for about $ 3.80ish and i got to have two flavors. I chose mango and blueberry pomegranate. When deciding what to try, the girl behind the counter let me sample a flavor I was curious about — mango habanero. It was definitely unique, but a little too hot for my taste! We sat in the shop for a while, chatting and listening to a local musician singing and playing guitar. I’d say it was pretty busy for a weeknight(Thursday), despite the chilly weather. A bit expensive, maybe, but worth it as a once in a while treat to me.

Not too many flavors available. My gelato tasted average(I got the ferrero rocher flavored gelato).

This is in the Glenn, where all the delicious restaurants are located. They have a crazy amount of gelato here, and a lot of it is seasonal(currently holding pumpkin spice gelato and apple pie gelato). It is a good spot for sandwiches/soup, but the main event is the gelato!

Love, love, love VIA. This is one of the only places I like to frequent for dessert. I have gone to several other places to try the Gelato… and you just can’t beat it. Via Gelato also makes delicious coffee’s, for those cold and rainy nights. I can never pass up not going into Via Gelato for a delicious treat! Every single time I go in there, they have some sort of new flavors to go with the seasons. I can’t wait to go back in to try the fall creations! Keep up the great work in that department! During the week, you can find great live music… and it’s a great place to come in with friends and kids. Oh, and your crepes are DELICIOUS, too!

One of my favorite gelato places around, love the adorable location in the Glen, love the cuteness of the place that reminds me of one of the little gelato shops we went to in Florence. I love the little adorable colored cups they give you to put the gelato in and I love the nice staff that always lets us try several flavors before settling on my favorite one… And the winner, yesterday and for always will be the Ferrero Rocher chocolately hazelnut goodness that is OHEMGEE uhh-mayy-zzingg! I’m getting hungry just thinking about that flavor. It’s got my two favorite things in one, gelato mixed with that golden wrapped, incredible chocolate candy. Whoever thought of it, and I’m assuming the owner is a genius. I do think the place is a little pricey but at the same time, it’s worth the money, and I also like the fact that in a small they give you two flavors to try in one cup and my husband always gets like coffee mixed in with fruti de bosca(which is like a berry sorbet, also very refreshing and delicious). I can’t vouch for the sandwiches or salads but if they are as good as the gelato, I may have to bump up this place to 5 stars! A summer staple of ours :)

Your coffee is weak. But your Gelato rocks! Sorbetto that’s luscious and creamy enough to pass as for faux-dairy. Flavours wonderfully intense unlike your coffee. My Lactose intolerant buddies love you and even if we’re stuffed to the gills after dinner. We come in. On cold, crazy cold nights. We still come in. And Via Gelato, thanks for live music on Friday nights. It’s a nice touch to introduce classic guitar to the kids. Tippin’ extra for that!

Gelato is good — but not phenomenal. I’d come here again on another trip home to see my parents. I’m probably not being fair by comparing the gelato to the stuff you get in Italy, but that’s why I don’t think it deserves five stars. I could live on the good Italian gelato. Every day.

Potato-pesto soup! Holy hot damn. Please serve this regularly. I’ll come once a week for this, I promise.

Great gelato served in a six sided cup that is packed full with the good stuff but really can get quite messy. Enjoyed the dark chocolate option — very flavorful stuff. Maybe I’ll try a lunch here someday as well — menu looked pretty interesting. Prompt service, though it wasn’t very busy.

Ferrero Rocher Gelato. Where have you been all my life? Via Gelato is a cute little café. The décor is a little European; definitely cozy and cute. Stopped in for a little sweet treat and along with my Gelato, I got to meet the owner who gave us a sample of the new waffles they will be offering. The owner was so friendly and defo excited that we enjoyed our snacks. The Gelato and sorbetto is made in-house and the flavors are pretty ingenious. The flavors rotate, but that day, along with Ferrero Rocher, there was Biscotti, Wedding Cake, Italian Pistacio, Pomegranate Blueberry, Mango… They have about 24 available daily. The FR Gelato was creamy and the taste was exactly like the crunchy, chocolatey, hazelnut candy! So yummy. You can get two flavors in their small serving, between the biscotti and FR, I liked the FRocher much better. There is a menu chalkboard offering crepes/paninis/soup/salads – it all looked so good. The waffles they will be serving will come dusted with powdered sugar or with a spread of yummy Nutella. The green apple waffle was very good and perfect for fall. Worth a return visit!

SO lovely! The staff was attentive, warm and friendly. The food, while simple, was delicious. I had a Tacchino Panini that comes with a pasta salad side. The panini was incredibly flavorful. I am also not usually a fan of pasta salad, but this was great too. The shredded parmesan was the perfect touch. Definitely can’t wait to go back and try their other selections.

I went here with a Groupon earlier this week. Prices are a bit high, but what is get reeks with quality. The brownie gelato had huge chunks of brownie in it while the apple pie gelato had apple pie in it! Portions were kind of small in all aspects(sandwich, salad, and gelato). I left feeling satisfied. The staff was friendly and efficient. They were cleaning my table as I got my gelato. This is now in my regular rotation!

Since my last visit, VG has added extensive crêpe and coffee offerings to their menu. A small cup of gelato allows you to choose 1 – 2 flavors. I went for the ferrero rocher and salty pretzel crisp, which were excellent. I was mildly bummed that they were out of frosted cupcake gelato for the night.

I love coming to the Glen but honestly I avoid coming generally because the parking is just horrible. That and throw in all the screaming kids, strollers and pre teens crowding the sidewalks it can be quite a challenge weaving in and out of the crowds to get to your destination. With that said, Via Gelato is one of the few places that keeps me bringing me back to the Glen. Every time I’ve come here the service has been impeccable. This little gelato shop offers food like paninis and soup as well but I have only gone for the gelato so far. Like others have mentioned and suggested I always go for the Ferrero Rocher or the hazelnut one. Never fails. I love that they now offer cones which is nice when you’re taking it to go. Driving while trying to scoop gelato into your mouth is highly not reccomened, unsafe and really, REALLY messy. Just… take my word for it.

Walking off the North Glenview Metra yesterday, I was a bit hungry, and disoriented… hmm, where’s that Target parking lot I can cut through over to Pinstripes? Luckily, I noticed a beacon of hope across the way in the form of a shining gelateria. Yanyao N speaks the truth. Their signature Ferrero Rocher gelato is… is… um, well, ahhhhhh, !@#$%^*… it’s orgasmic. And that is all you need to know. They also make almost two dozen other flavors but I won’t ever concern myself with the others, though if you choose to try something else, I won’t judge. Sorbetto, paninis, soup, crepes and coffee are also available. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but this is the good stuff. Enjoy!
