Specialties

Blue Bunny Ice Cream, celebrating 100 yrs in 2013. Cones, sundaes, banana splits, shakes, malts, cream sodas, cookies, soda pop & coffee. Occassionally have sherbet, sorbets & gelato. Sold Belgian chocolates for nearly 8 yrs, but mid 2011 as they began closing their US operation, we have been extremely busy trying to replace them, & are currently introducing chocolates & fudge from 5 different Colorado companies. Offering wine tasting & sales for a vineyard out of Palisade (bottled in Boulder) called Book Cliff Vineyards. We carry 13 of their wines, avg. 8 – 10 wines are open for tasting, depending on the season & availability. Tasting wine with chocolate is optional as we have a list of suggested pairings. With a selection of 85 various pieces, customers are free to choose their own. Keep in mind, we have less open to taste in the winter & it’s easier to do tastings when the shop is less crowded. We have saddles to sit on, & puzzles & magazines to enjoy. Next to Pepo Ninos, downtown.

History

Established in 2004.

Opened the store as a husband & wife team along with our 6 yr old son, who is a competitive figure skater, even after 9yrs. Part of the shop was a cigar shop at one time. Started out with ice cream desserts, Belgian chocolates & snacks. A year later we added the wine tasting. My wife designed most of the sundaes, designed & decorated the store, & handles all the advertising, & most of the hiring & training, when she’s not running our son to some far away ice rink for practice, or tending our many farm animals & rescues. Together we manage stock ordering, & often work the store together. When I’m not busy managing store finances, I’m on the ranch on Silt Mesa farming alfalfa for horse hay. We try to keep regular hours, which vary with the seasons, & it is difficult for us to be everywhere, when summer help is often unreliable. To keep our products affordable, we run the store ourselves without employees, Sept-May.
