Quality Inn & Suites On The River

I come to Glenwood Springs for 2 weeks, every year for Christmas. I usually stay at the Holiday Inn. This year I wanted to save money plus I wouldn’t be skiing as much so I wanted a hotel with amenities. Quality inn is a far more better choice then a fancy hotel. Check in was fast and easy with a really nice staff. The room has so much space for the price. 2 queen beds and an extra space for a pull out couch and a small table with 2 chairs, closet and a nice size bathroom with tons of counter space. The quality inn is 3 floors, I am happy being on the 3^rd floor. The views are amazing!!! Front of the hotel snowy mountains. Back of the hotel is the Colorado river, breathtaking views of the mountains and a walking path for people with pets. Free breakfast that ends at 10am every morning. Such a great overall food selection. Oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast, bagels, eggs, hash browns, waffles, pancakes, sausage. I’m updated on news and events in Glenwood with a Free daily news paper every morning. After a day of skiing I get to come back and swim in the indoor pool and relax my muscles in the in door hot tub. On the days I didn’t ski, I used the free indoor gym. I was disappointed about no treadmill but the gym had weights, a bench, and two bikes. The room has a mini fridge and microwave. A flat screen tv and draw space for clothes. Only negatives are the room does have a smell when first walk in and the when taking a bath the water does drain even when the drain is closed. Still this hotel is great for the price, what you get and the views. Not even 5 mins to the town, right next to target and a next to a gas station. Super close to sunlight mountain, what more could you ask for?!

Just left from a short one night stay. Check in was quick, rooms were clean, bed comfy. Breakfast was a better assortment than other mid range hotels like this… Cereal, fruit, pastries, waffle and pancake maker, omelets, hash browns, etc. Considering it’s all free, how can you really complain?
Indoor pool and fitness room right off lobby but didn’t get a chance to check either out. My only real complaint was that the cleaning lady came to both mine and my friends door multiple times, even though we both had our do not disturb signs up. What’s the point of the signs if???
It’s pet friendly, right off the river and 10 minutes for downtown and Glenwood Adventure Park. I wouldn’t spend more than $ 100 a night, but for that price I was very pleased.

When we got to our «non-​smoking» room, it reeked of smoke. We tried to air it out, but to no avail. When we mentioned it to the front desk, they were unable to change our room.

This was an ugly experience starting from check in. The dirty blonde who checked us in was so unwelcoming. Very snobby. And after we got to our room, we noticed she had charged our card TWICE (that’s a 2 day stay charged 2 times) which actually put our bank account at –$ 150. Needless to say we had overdraft fees and had to make an embarrassing phone call to a family member to borrow money for food. We went back to her and she fixed it, but there was no apology and was told «it’ll hit in a couple days»…
As soon as we walked into the room, it looked nice, but an overwhelming smell of pet urine really off took us. There was a leftover Mountain Dew on the counter, and the only chair in the room was a recliner and it was broken.
After my boyfriend had a long exhausting 10 hour work day, after grabbing something to eat, we raced back to make sure we could enjoy the hot tub before closing. We made it! It closed at 11pm and we walked into the pool area around 10:35pm. As we wanted to be courteous of the hotel (which now I realize I shouldn’t have, a hotel should be courteous of its paying guests) we planned to leave at 10:55pm. As we were setting to leave, we noticed there were no towels… So I had to actually grab a wet towel on top of the bin of used towels (UGH) to cover myself and walk to the front desk. Soaking wet and shivering, I interrupted the two people who were talking and laughing while I was standing there, and I ask for a couple towels «So we could leave». As the one girl went to grab towels, the other, a tall large man, was awkwardly silent for a while and then bursted at me «We’re closing the pool area now!!»
Uhm, yes I know. That’s why I was asking for towels because there were none… So we could leave not soaking wet walking down your halls… What the hell. So rude, everyone there!!!
But I saved the best for last. One morning, I was welcomed by 3 spiders in the bathroom! (Picture posted)! I kept killing them but they still came up until I left the room to check out. Absolutely disgusting I avoided the bathroom most of the stay. Literally terrified just to pee.
And as I walked out after check out, I noticed the huge «5-​Star Award Whatever» banner hanging on the front of the building and laughed myself all the way down the road.

We had a great time on a 3 night stay in Glenwood. It was clean, well taken care of, & right on the river. We could open our window & listen to the river. The breakfast wasn’t amazing but hey, it’s free! We will stay again.

My wife and I went for our anniversary weekend in early August 2014 to stay at the Quality Inn & Suites On the River in Glenwood, CO. I generally really enjoyed the hotel; it is reasonable cost for the quality of things received at the hotel.

Positives:
–River view room (south side) is nice, and can be requested.
–Nice deck and grill on the back patio.
–Good breakfast. Many hot items, some variety, and plenty of space to sit to eat.
–Easy access to I-​70. Not right in downtown, so away from the craziness.
–Ice machine, vending, business center, pool, hot tub
Our suite room:
–Excellent Jacuzzi tub. Jets, lots of room, extra towels, lots of space around it.
–Couch, microwave, minifridge. All very good.
–Flatscreen TV seemed nice (but never used it)
Negatives:
–Requested river side, but were sold out of our type of room on the river side. Instead, gave us some money off each night and apologized.
–Shower controls were quite annoying. It was quite tricky to get the hot and cold right because the turning device is unusual.
–I had to log into the WiFi many times. Reset each time I turned off my iPhone screen.
–Workout facility is way too small and not quality equipment. Only a 1 single bowflex (hard to setup), 1 treadmill, 1 bike, and 1 bench.

Ok, we arrived late: but I specifically stated on our reservation that we needed a non-​smoking room for health reasons. I had seen mixed reviews on google, but several were older. When we arrived I came up to our room to discover it was a non-​smoking room on a floor with smoking rooms. Perhaps this is not realized by hotels, but smoking rooms on a floor with non-​smoking rooms defeats the purpose of having non-​smoking rooms. The hall is filled with smoke every time I open the door of my room. So I requested a room change. They have none, but their sister hotel has one, they checked to see if we could transfer there. We can transfer there, but we have to pay $ 100 more for each night.
Seriously, with a note stating it was for health reasons, they will not accommodate us? So they said they would move us in the morning to a room with a king bed, two twins and a pull out. Everyone who has slept in a pull out knows it is uncomfortable. We are two couples and two kids. Frankly, I’d prefer two queens and two twins, but I had to take what I could get, but it seems to me they should do more to help us. I told management I would bill them for my medical bills. It’s midnight, I’m not going hotel searching at midnight with 5 people in tow.
I had read a review of another traveler who had similar problems with this hotel, and that is why I specifically stated we needed non-​smoking. Not happy and letting everyone know.

Asked for handicap room 1 month prior to arrival. I have limited mobility. Shown to room and the shower was disabled. To reach new room i had to walk beyond my tolerance altho doors marked hc were very near 1^st room. Clerk refused to take chg for safe off. To use e mail, had to send computer to desk 4 times. Little assistance. mgr denied that there are any problems. Guess handicapped not welcome.

We stayed here several nights, room was nice and roomy. We got a queen, a double and bunk beds which the kids loved. The breakfast was ok, not very kid friendly though. Cereal was pretty bland, had to wait for 2% milk since it was the first to go, and really it was catered for older people.
The first time they went in and cleaned, it was half cleaned. I was really confused… the comforter was not even folded just put on top of the sofa bed that was not made either. I know hotels won’t make beds if you leave personal items on it but I don’t think I did or at least didn’t find anything.
I would stay here again since its in a perfect location, hotel backed up to Colorado river and the mountains.

This is closer to a hotel than a motel. Clean, roomy, pet friendly, with free Wi-​Fi and free hot breakfast included. Recommended!
