Shellfish and octopus just great. Perfectly spiced. Reasonable prices. Fun to eat in the bar tables. Lots of locals.

Best tapas. Grilled octopus and shrimp on a skewer was amazing along with the mini fried cod cakes, sardines, mini tenderloins, grilled linguica and the fried calamari tapas were to die for. Main course seafood paella was awesome and my husband had the azorean steak with a fried egg on top. We highly recommend the Azorean Restaurant in Gloucester! Don’t forget to have the Portuguese wine, you won’t be disappointed! +AAAAA

Nice atmosphere in the bar. Very good prices on drinks. Very good prices on food. Burgers cooked just right. I have not had terrific experiences with their steaks, but I had a chicken marsala that was excellent!

The muscle’s special was really great! The dish was tasty and their italian bread was perfect for dipping into the broth. We also did the tapas tower. Some of the tapas were better than others, but overall they were pretty good. We ordered the buffalo wings(duh, my boyfriend can never get enough), chicken poppers, shrimp sautéed in oil and spices, chickpea and sausage, grilled tomato and mozzarella, and sautéed beef. A lot of the flavors were similar/overlapped. My favorite was probably the wings and the chickpea and sausage. We were completely stuffed by the end of the meal and it was reasonably priced. The owner was also very friendly. We were very happy with our experience.

My family and I randomly popped in for a late lunch and we will definitely be back! We got a couple apps to split before our meal and the shrimp and calamari were delicious! Drinks were great as well! Good prices, five stars!

Where has this place been all my life? Great food, great atmosphere, great inexpensive red wine, and always busy. Busy because is it so damn good. The Azorean steak tips are my favorite. Just the right amount of spice and cooked perfectly everytime.

Was with a party of 6 last night for dinner. Service was quick and efficient. I got the owners mixed seafood app. Calamari and shrimp. It was very good. Cooked perfectly. Was dissapointed in the codfish cakes. Didn’t taste or see any fish in them. Just a highly ground up filling. The rest of my party liked there meals. It was a good time overall.

Give this place a try! We were pleasantly surprised at the décor. You almost forget it’s 30 degrees outside! I was on a mission to have octopus. We started with the combo calamari /shrimp and that was delicious. Spicy and crispy and shrimp was flavorful. Then we decided to try the 6 tapas special. It was SOMUCHFOOD. After our appetizer, we barely had room to try everything. We got the cheeses, an octopus ceviche, a cooked octopus dish, stuffed mushrooms, cod croquettes, and hmm. I can’t remember the last. YUM!

We have only lived on Cape Ann for two years… and are foodies. Most of the restaurants here serve your typical fried seafood fare. I have been to Portugal and never thought that I could experience that cuisine here in the USA. Well, this place fills the bill. It is always crowded and noisy… most likely because the food is so great. Recommend the seafood Catalans(prob misspelled)…a lovely dish with amazing saffron infused broth. Lots of mussels, clams, calamari. Just go there. Get their infused vodka drinks. Our pomegranate martini was amazing.

I enjoyed my lunch. The Server was great and very friendly. I ordered the sausage and kale soup and an app that was a combo of 2, calamari and shrimp done in white wine and garlic sauce. they served a nice bread with garlic and olive oil dipping oil. All of it was very good and if I were to be in the area again I would definitely return. The place was spotless!

Went for weekday lunch on recommendation of friends. Pulling into parking lot, you feel like you’re in Europe, based on the exterior look of the building, masonry, windows, planters, etc. As you step inside, you’re SURE of it. We’ve never been to Portugal, but it sure looked similar to restaurants in the hills above the Amalfi Drive in Italy. The lunch menu is varied, with both Portuguese and more traditional entrees and sandwiches. Even a variety of «Portuguese inspired» hamburgers. Food was wonderful … even french fries tasted fresh, not frozen. Prices were reasonable($ 8 — $ 9 sandwiches, $ 9 to $ 13 entrees. Sampled two desserts … great! Definitely on our«go back again» list.

Found this restaurant on Unilocal when a co-worker and I were in the area for a class and wanted to get dinner after a little sight seeing. Wanted to get something besides the typical fried seafood meal and was very surprised by what we found Food was excellent. I started with the octopus salad and the moved onto the steak tips for the entrée. The octopus was the most tender that I have ever had. The steak was very tender and had been fileted so there was no fat. Co-worker had garlic shrimp and a pizza. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and not over cooked and tender. Service was very prompt and friendly If you want to enjoy good seafood this is your place

My girlfriend went here w her friend for dinner and brought me home take-out. I got the steak tips w chips/fries and green beans. The steak was really good — very well flavored/spiced. A good amount. Decent quality, though w some thick ribbons of fat through, but overall cooked as ordered and quite tasty. Green beans were fine. Chips/fries were thin, cooked as asked, and nicely spiced as well. Really good food, definitely want to go inside myself

I wasn’t sure I would like Portiguese food, I’m not a big fan of seafood. I have to say that there were plenty of choices for the non-peixe eaters. The braised beef was amazing, the décor was quaint and cozy and the staff was friendly and helpful. So happy I got to try some food from the family’s homeland on my trip out east!

This is a real gem of a restaurant for Gloucester. Every summer we get the whole extended family out to the Cape and we generally try and cook in, but inevitably we roam outside the kitchen for sustenance. This is our second time at Azorean and it lived up to what we remembered it being. Great building with a really nice interior. It’s a really exotic menu and a nice change of pace if you’re looking for something other then the standard fried plates of seafood around town. Although they don’t have a kids menu, they have an unwritten one. They are very accomodating although I would just print one for future use to make it easier on the waitstaff and to calm parents with picky eaters. Must get both the red and white sangria to make the meal complete.

The food here was alright, nothing crazy. The Portuguese food here is more Americanized, so if your looking for authentic, this is not the place for you. I had the Spanish Cataplana and it didn’t really have any taste. The fish needed more seasoning. The cod fish cakes are good and so was the chorizo spread that came with the cheese plate.

We came here for lunch after whale watching. Great service and awesome food in a warm atmosphere! We ordered Tapas tower and a Mediterranean salad, that’s a decent amount for two ppl. Everything tastes sooooo good!

I was almost going to go 4 stars but in can’t. The atmosphere is nice but NOISY. Put some acoustic tile on the ceilings! We, my wife and I, sat at the bar. got a couple $ 5 tapas appetizers. Nice idea, they are kinda small but for $ 5 just right. I got a 12 oz filet mignion with a spicy wine sauce. The sauce was not spicy and it flooded the plate. You couldn’t get away from it. It was in the rice and potatoes. The bartender said you can order the starch on the side. This really took away from the success of the dish. My wife got a grilled seafood dish. The seafood was kinda dry. I liked the place and we will try again as I think there is potential I haven’t found the right dishes yet. Nose they have $ 4 bottles imported beers. 2 appetizers 2 entrée and 4 beers was $ 80 add tip 13 and it was 93. They got one more shot. If that doesn’t work out it will be relegated to a bar and I will stay with the simplest offerings. The bread and oil they serve is really good.

I had dinner at Azorean tonight with my parents and my fiancé. After all was said and done we decided that we’d definitely be back. Prices were very fair and portion size was just right. Soon after meeting our waitress we knew she’d be a good hostess for our first visit and we were definitely pleased with her service. The dipping oil to complement their bread was some of the best I’ve ever had. We shared the cheese sampler and fava bean tapas. The cheeses were very good and the others really enjoyed the fava beans. I ordered the Surf and Turf. I would describe it as just okay. One of my moms had a procedure to reduce her stomach size so the tapas was perfect as a meal for her. All of our meals were very good and we were very pleased with our desserts as well.

In all my years of coming to Gloucester multiple times a year, we were first compelled to go here during the nasty, cold rains of July 5th: Arthur’s Revenge. It was freaking awesome. Braised beef was done perfectly, and the flavors were subtle, yet nothing I had ever tasted before. Steak tips were cooked correctly and also had their own small spiciness upon first bite, only to melt into something more savory and delicious. I had to try dessert: the chocolate mousse was the best I have had in a long while. Often I get mousse at restaurants and it’s just too sugary with not enough chocolate flavor. Well, this one was just right on all ends. I ate it all up and enjoyed the real whipped cream they put on top. The strawberry balsamic with vanilla ice cream was excellent, as well. I’ll have to come one more time to consider it a five star review, but I am SO looking forward to it. Maybe I’ll just show up for dessert!
