Sea Glass Restaurant

A little bit on the pricey (ocean) side of the street but very very much worth every penny. The most perfectly done scallops I’ve had in years. Arugula and beet salad with many other treats was awesome. Warm bread pudding with ice cream was just the right closer on a cold January night. I will be back!
Dawn caught my style right away and made the best final choices for me from the two or three things I could not decide on for myself.

It’s such a great atmosphere here. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. Alicia, the server is amazing with her description of the menu. We had the duck breast and the salmon for entrees and were so satisfied with our meal. We will most definitely be coming again very soon.

We have been to the Seaglass restaurant several times. It’s has a lovely outside deck and charming interior. We always enjoy enjoy the food. Great menu selection and good prices. Waitstaff is also very good. There’s one problem that will keep us from frequenting this restaraunt. The music out on the deck is WAY TOO LOUD! It’s extremely difficult to have conversation during dinner. When I go for dinner with friends I want it to be relaxing. It’s hard to relax when you have to yell in order to have conversation. We ask every time to turn it down but to no avail. I would be a regular patron except for the loud music.

What a charming location! We are staying at the B and B which I would definitely give 5 starts. As for the restaurant, I wish I could give it 3.5 stars. The setting is beautiful, the staff was very attentive. The menu for the most part was ambitious for a little Inn and I do want to give it credit for that.
We ordered the duck confit mushrooms– more ritz crackers than duck in this. I think that they were frozen and then recooked before being served to us. Still, not bad tasting, I just would have liked more duck taste.
Watermelon salad– actually quite lovely and tasty! The finishing salt added crunch, the Meyer lemon added a nice citrus note. It was missing a layer of either smokiness or spice to make the dish pop.
Seafood trio– ok. Oysters freshly chucked but no brine, lobster tail overcooked, shrimp were rock hard, mignonette sauce was bland and odd, cocktail sauce was tasty
Stuffed haddock– ritz crackers used for the seafood staffing again! That being said, dish was tasty, especially the grilled asparagus. Haddock was soft with a nice texture.
There was no lack of service– we did get asked multiple times if we needed anything. When I mentioned that my shrimp were hard, the waitress said «ok» and that was the end on it… No biggie but no aspiration to take the restaurant up another notch.
Overall, if you are staying here, it’s a nice option for this tiny town. On the other hand, the food here will not blow your mind.

This place was surprisingly good. We stumbled on it looking at homes in the area. Beautiful late 19^th century old home that is now an Inn. I had the baked stuffed haddock that was perfect. My wife had the fish and chips which were good too. Price was very reasonable. We will definitely return again.

This is for the Sea Glass Restaurant, located on the bottom floor of the Castle Manor Inn in Gloucester.
TLDR version: great drinks & excellent food, but horrible service.
Very mixed experience… had reservations for Sunday at 8pm, which probably explains at least some of the issues. Showed up promptly at 8, and the hostess was eating a plate of food at the hostess stand. Took at least a minute for her to acknowledge us and seat us. Despite having reservations, no table was setup. Took a long while for the (only?) waitress to come by the table and take drink orders, and even longer to get the drinks.
There was a live band in the other room, playing some decent oldies… a little loud if you were in that half of the restaurant, but it was nice to hear from the dining room on the other side. I’d give the band a B+, which was especially nice on a Sunday night.
Oysters for appetizer were great, though they forgot to bring us cocktail sauce (showed up with it 10 minutes later). Drinks were good (perfectly mixed), though they constantly got little things wrong (dirty rocks for the wrong drink, etc). Took forever to order the second round of drinks (after the oysters). Once she finally took the order, she forgot to bring one drink and it sat out until I asked for it, and by then martini was hot.
Food was slow to arrive, but absolutely delicious. I got the Lobster Pie, which was served nice and hot. A very rich dish, with giant pieces of whole lobster perfectly cooked with crabmeat, breadcrumbs, and butter — very rich! Served with green beans that were just the right level of done-​ness, and some sort of brown rice side that was outstanding. She got the champagne chicken, and seemed to enjoy it (we didn’t really talk about her food quality, so I’m reticent to say much here). It looked pretty yummy.
We got dessert martinis, which were also very good (though a little more artistry with the presentation would have been nice).
Overall, we were satisfied with our experience, and are willing to chalk up the poor service to the late hour on an off night. That said, I managed a restaurant for many years and personally would have never let those sorts of things happen — fairly unprofessional. Based on other reviews, it seems like consistency is a real challenge here.
Don’t get the wrong impression — everyone was super nice, the prices were reasonableish, and the food was outstanding. I would recommend this place and will probably go again.
