AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

Had to have a bad Flex plate replaced, not a big deal, however, Bert at Aamco informed me that the transmissions fluid was so bad he «strongly» recommended a rebuild. I had the rebuild and the flex plate done to the tune of $ 3000. About 13 months later the flex plate started to subtlety develop a problem which quickly led to it literally imploding. Very, very inconvenient situation to say the least. Another $ 1600 later, with another shop, it was learned that 1 of the 3 transmission mounting bolts was missing, and a 2^nd one was literally sheared off leaving the threads imbedded. The transmission was found to be encroaching on a large wire harness and the wire harnesses mounting bracket was not afixed properly by Aamco. The Van, not by coincidence, developed a shake which can be felt while at idle. Ultimately It became clear that the transmission was not properly aligned and mounted by Aamco resulting in all these issues. In all fairness, the transmission functions very well, absent the aforementioned.

Absolutely dissapointed in this shop. I called on a Friday morning to see about getting the alternator replaced on my car asap. They said they could get me in that day. Had my car towed and it arrived at noon. I had a warranty on my vehicle that should have covered the cost of the alternator minus my $ 100 deductible. After letting my car sit for two hrs before calling my warranty company who is located on the East coast, therefore closing before they could obtain approval; this repair shop couldn’t get my car done until Monday when they could get the approval from my warranty company. My warranty company countered this shops offer of what they’d pay for this simple repair. I called Aamco to find out the status of my vehicle. After talking with the man, he informed me my out of pocket expense would be close to $ 300! I immediately called my warranty company and found out this shop is trying to charge me $ 350 just for the part! Not including labor! At autozone, this part is $ 165! That’s a 100% mark up on retail! My warranty company was willing to pay $ 235 for the part and Aamco refused! AND they were rude to the gentleman at the warranty company! I immediately called a tow truck and had my car delivered to my dealership who wasn’t going to try and financially scam me! This repair shop takes advantage of people! No bueno!

We’ve always had wonderful, HONEST service here. Last year, the Honda dealer told us about a repair we *HAD TO* get right away; we brought the vehicle to Bert, and he said we didn’t need anything done at all, and he sent us away without a charge.
AAMCO installed a new axle for us in December, and something went wrong with the CV boot; they replaced everything without any issues whatsoever. I’m so glad they stand behind their parts and repairs.
These are just a couple examples of why we love this shop so much.

Engine light was on, so I schedule appt for diagnostic. My oxygen sensor was out on Toyota, 1135 code from computer. They quote me $ 530 to replace. Way overpriced. I go to red rocket auto repair in sacramento, very reliable same repair $ 251. I’ll stick to the local repair mechanic vs big box place, that try’s to gouge customers. Stay away!

I go in on a Monday and want to fix my check engine light. The male receptionist says he can’t take us in till Wednesday. So I made the appointment and when I arrived 2 days later, a female receptionist goes and find out why my check engine light and told me the codes. I expected them to fix it right then but nooo. She tells me I need to make another appointment. I said what!!! Why would I have made the appointment to fix it and wait 2 days? She says you didnt say to have it fix. We go back in forth and she says she made the appointment. I told her she is a liar and left. How stupid is this company… well they lose me and more… bye bye DA!

Unbelieveable honesty.
I got referred to this shop by Pep Boys in Rancho Cordova because they couldn’t figure out how to solve the «Check Engine» light that indicated a transmission problem.
To make a long story short, after leaving the car for a week and several test drives, they could find nothing wrong with the tranny and cut me loose for zero, I said zero dollars.
Took the car to the dealership in Folsom, who also turned out to be good people, and needed a software re-​boot and some leak fix or other. Point is, you can trust this shop not to take you for a ride if you don’t have a legit problem. If they had told me I needed a new tranny I probably would have gone for the bait.

The people who worked there were awesome and nice! The owner there was also nice! The office had a nice lobby and there were plenty of magazines to read. the upside about this area was that they were able to fix what was wrong with my car. The downside was that it took up to 7 days to find out what was wrong with my car. I had to take my vehicle back 3 times because the engine light kept on coming up but they were able to fix what was wrong with it and what was causing that light to go off which I am happy. So far my vehicle is running great and I am happy with the service that was provided. I will definitely go back if something was wrong with my car.

Am pretty impressed with this place. No BS, no whining, no subterfuge. Fast and efficient work. Got my older Acura transmission rebuilt in three days and now the thing purrs like a kitten. Couldn’t quite believe how much my ride had changed over the years as the transmission failed. Now it works like a charm.

I went to Aamco in Rancho Cordova for what I thought might be either a driveline or transmission problem with my 2007 F150. The owner, Bert, was very helpful and took the time to research the symptoms that my truck was having. He recalled that there was a similar problem with another F150 they had worked on a couple of years ago and the problem was with shimms on the rear suspension rather than a driveline or transmission problem. He has his mechanic inspect it a sure enough the truck had shimms on the leaf springs. He removed them and it immediately fixed the problems. The team was most helpful and it only cost me $ 100.

I was referred here by another great shop (Mufflers USA on vehicle drive) as a last ditch effort to try and find a place that would give me an honest assessment of my transmission issues. I have been working on my own cars since I was younger, and am by NO means an expert, however I am certainly knowledgeable enough to asses an issue and determine probable causes. After a lot of research, messing around, and talking with actual mechanic friends, we were all sure that I had a sensor issue.
Strangely enough, though, I went to THREE other shops, all of which were quick to tell me I needed to replace the entire tranni. One place even charged me 100 bux to lie to my face, sweet! (of course I wont name any here, but they can be expecting some contrasting reviews to this one for sure.)
Needless to say it was refreshing and very relieving to find a place that was more than willing to be honest, and fix the actual problem, which turned out to be a speed sensor wiring harness. They saved me $ 2000! They also saved me the frustration of dealing with people who were just as unpleasant as they were good at trying to steal my money. One shop had the nerve to tell me they «didnt have a magic crystal ball that could tell them when they would be done looking at my car» after they had it for a good 18hrs.
Everyone there was great to talk to, and very friendly. I will certainly be taking all of my transmission issues to this shop from now on, as well as anything else I cant handle b/​c they do other stuff too.

My wife took our car in to Aamco in Gold River to have the Check engine light looked at for free like it say in the commercial. After they read the codes they told her it would be 98.00 to try to pin point the problem. After that I had the car towed home and fixed the problem for 100.00. Just told my wife to go in and have them reset the check engine light and the owner told her it was against the law.(what a moron). Then he said for 98.00 he would reset the code (what an moron he just told her it was against the law). He told her people just come in and get the light checked and then fix the problem themselves. Well then i think he should tell Aamco to stop running the free check engine light commercial. I or anyone I know will ever go to this Aamco for any work to be done on our vehicles. THEY ARE MORONS!!!

I’ve visited these guys numerous times and they are always willing to listen and give some advice. They’ve run numerous codes for me over the years and never charge me a dime.
recently I had them do a routine service and they found other problems with my vehicle, notified me, gave me the option to hold off, and provided me with an additional quote for the optional work that needed to be done. overall my experience was very good, I will be going here for more automotive repairs in the future for sure. I trust these guys, and that’s not an easy thing to do.

My transmission went out on me a couple of years back and I brought into my local AAMCO to have them work on it. They told me they needed to rebuild it and gave me a $ 2500 estimate. I ok’ed it had my vehicle back in a week or so.
After driving my vehicle for a couple months, my transmission went out on me again. After taking it back to see if there was something they could do, they told me the best they can offer is a hundred dollar discount because I was a repeat customer. But that ultimately it was my own fault for not purchasing the guarantee they offered for an additional 350 when they originally worked on my vehicle.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t a rebuilt transmission last a little longer than 6 months before it blows up again… guarantee or not. I went out and found a newer transmission for less about 40% what I paid them and have not had issues since.
Just a warning to future customers that might be thinking of going with these guys, I don’t know how other AAMCO’s work, but if anything is based of this particular location… I recommend you shop around, unless you want to be spending 2500 bucks every 6months to have these guys do what you originally THINK your having them do.
