If you want to drown your mediocre hibachi gloop in bottomless amounts of flavored mayonnaise, then this is the place for you. My table’s service was very slow – more than an hour before we began eating.

I’ve been going to this location since I was a kid and i gotta say the the service has gone way below satisfactory. The hostess are rude and crabby waitresses are rude, cranky and super slow, forgetful etc. Even the management are a-holes. The one lady manager tried to pick a fight with my dad when he wasn’t even trying to argue, just figure out a situation our party had. Its always freezing in there during the winter too. The stars are only for the food and pink sauce and the chefs are almost always really nice and entertaining. Besides the chefs, they need all new staffing and management.

We all got food poisoning from Benihanas NEVERAGAIN. All 4 courses of the mean tonight we threw up. HAPPYFRICKENBIRTHDAY! Never again will we walk into this over rated, over priced, dig on the Asian stereotype. Benihanas is the worst place unless your a bulimic needing a binge and a fast and easy way to throw up later. Let’s not forget the fact that we made a reservation for 7:30pm and got handed a pager so we could wait for 20+ minutes to be seated. Overhearing while we waited was one irate customer talking about a table and menus being sticky and dirty, guess who also got sticky menus. Gross, Over priced, Piss poor service. Someone please close this Petri dish of a place down before they kill someone.

Its been a good min since I have written a review or done anything on Unilocal.Promise that has changed. Ohh bennihana however you spell it. I am going to say this. good thing I didnt pay a dime coming to eat here it was free for me due to lunch meeting at work. I would not pay for a high price meal here. I think you pay more for the entertainment more than anything. Service was great no complaints and food show with the click n clacking and the egg throw was awesome. Food was great. Nothing to’die over only for the shrimp sauce I would probably die for mmmm. Honestly I dont even know what I got to eat. Wasnt memorable. It was rice and veggies with something I I dont know what the hype is about this place is just bland save you 50 or 60 dollars and go eat downtown instead

Everything about this place is YUM! First they start you off with a mushroom soup which was very flavorful and good, next they give you a side salad with an Asian dressing(also very good), next is the chicken fried rice which is one of my favorites especially if you put the ginger sauce on it. Finally, for my entrée, I got the teriyaki chicken which was cooked to perfection. The chef was very friendly, attentive, and overall made our whole group have a good time with his corny jokes and tricks.

I have been to this location many times and at least expect the cook to be proficient for a Wednesday night dinner. Extremely dissapointed at the quality of cooking. Looks like we ended with a rookie. Please train your cooks! You just can’t have new cooks when I’m paying a premium. The wait staff and greeters were good.

The chain of Benihana is a decent chain with table side cooking, but this particular Benihana is not worth the visit. The cooks are decently entertaining, but the serving staff are negligent, crabby, inconsiderate and mostly just in a rush to turn tables. I notice better reviews for this Benihana by others, hence I think it is a hit and miss usually because I and my family had a very bad experience here. Or it is just good for people expecting no service from the staff and who are just awed by the food(which is average at best). i myself am never going back nor recommend anyone else to go to this particular Benihana either.

Sooo not okay. Reservation time: 8pm The time we actually got to the table: 8:50. Hostess, server sucked, hibachi chef and bartender did good! The bartenders were the ones who actually got us sat, props to them for going above and beyond their job. However never returnung, should have just gone to sushi x, the service over there is a lot quicker and better! Don’t fuck up when we chose to go for our anniversary! FML I’m just so irratated. I get that shit gets busy I’ve worked multiple positions in the restuaraunt field but damn this was a hot mess. Even the buss boys didn’t think to walk the few feet to the back of the house to swear and bitch about the table that just left. Get your shit together or expect to keep losing business.

Nice happy hour prices(Decently-made specialty rolls, etc. for $ 5 – 6, hot sake for $ 3.), relaxing ambiance, friendly and helpful staff. The bar/lounge area is much larger here than MG Benihana, so the likelihood of finding a spot to sit with a small group during the 5 o’clock hour is much higher!

Honestly, average, at the very best. Tonight at least the show was good. My seafood experience was sub par at best. Scallops, shrimp and lobster isn’t that difficult yet when it was all said and done I had a bunch of seafood in the consistency of pencil erasers. Any time I come here it’s just average, none of the food it served even close to a total meal, it’s always in sections. Other hibachi places try to serve a whole meal as a whole on a plate. Out reservation on a Tuesday night was at 7:30. Arrived at 7:00, seated a 7:30 chef came out at 8:15, meal served between 8:30 and 9:05. You’d think that for a chain that is basically credited with creating the hibachi genre I. This country that they’d try to stay ahead o competition. I’ve been to four other places and this place is fifth. There’s a spot just down the road called Sushi X. Go there. Great experience and the owner is very concerned with the quality of food. This place isles concerned about your money.

I can’t recall the last time I set foot at a Benihana for Hibachi Grill. It has been years. Hibachi is one of my favorite treats but I usually don’t go to Benihana for it because first, they’re usually more expensive than other non chain Hibachi restaurants. Secondly, they don’t offer egg yolk or garlic shrimps. Thus, I have been an absentee from Benihana. I did go to Benihana several times just for their sushi bar, which was pretty good and reasonable in prices. I was here a couple weeks ago with my business associates. The reason I set foot on it because it wasn’t my decision and I wasn’t paying for it. However, I was pretty excited about it since it would have been a decent meal to be had. Plus, I was also excited to dine with these people I work with. We had a big party of over 20 people so we had to split between two facing tables. We squeezed in and fit everyone in. At first, they put us in a private room but it was way too crowded and stuffy. Then, they moved us to the main dining room. I was glad we moved as one of the downfalls of Hibachi is your coat, clothing, and hair would smell like the food. I can’t imagine how smelly I’d be if we would have stayed in that room and not to mention being claustrophobic. I was already a nervous wreck about my coat being smelly and what I had to do to air it out. Love the food, don’t love to smell like it afterward. I had the filet and shrimps and they were awesome. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. Usually, they tend to overcook it at a Hibachi place. Our chef did perfect. The shrimps were huge and fresh tasting. Though, it wasn’t egg yolk shrimp, I was happy with it. My colleagues also enjoyed their meals. The ginger sauce and the creamy sauce were nice too. I missed Hibachi meal and it hit the spot. After this meal, I craved it for the next several days and made some at home myself. I always fantasized to have that big grill at my house. I priced it a couple of times too but it’s pricy as you would need a sizable hood to suck all the smoke. My friends and family used to enjoy coming to my house for Hibachi dinner cooked on griddle. Though they didn’t get the show like if they would have had going to a Hibachi place. I wasn’t about to play spin the egg and catch it with my teeth type of show at home. If I did, it would have been in a different room and not the kitchen. But it sounds better done with whipped cream instead. Benihana didn’t chintz on the show part. Our chef was clanking his utensils like a mad man, and he did everything! The choo choo train, the beating heart, the shrimp tail throwing and the broccoli catching with your mouth. When you had a couple cocktails in you, it was more fun than annoying. With a big group like this, the show was much more entertaining as we kinda got into it a lot more to make fun of each other. I had a great time and I thoroughly enjoyed my food here. There’s nothing better than a free meal of filet and shrimps. The service was okay and nothing to complain about. If only they would have egg yolk shrimps and a coat check…

This was my first time at the famed Benihana restaurant. We went because my girlfriend had a free coupon for her birthday. Before I get to my review, what a great program! We live a good distance away from Benihana’s, so we probably would not have made the journey without the coupon. There was at least one other couple at our table had a birthday coupon too, so it seems to be very popular. It made the whole thing worth the trip and much more affordable than it normally is. I enjoyed the atmosphere and our chef. He was fun and entertaining like other hibachi chefs, but not to the point of being ignoring. Our server was pretty slow though and at one point I had to go find her to put in a drink order. The food was all really good, and of course the«yum-yum» sauce it worth the hype. The veggies were done just right and the steak was REALLY good. We were disappointed that the scallops were overcooked and tough, but I will just get something more forgiving the next time we go. Actually I will probably skip the combination dinners and just get a steak only. It’s cheaper that way, and like I said, it was REALLY good. Benihana’s gets downgraded for the scallops and slow drink service, but our chef and the rest of the meal made up for it. I’d suggest anyone who has not been to this Twin Cities institution definitely give it a try. Be sure to register for their birthday coupon program and bring a couple of friends to enjoy the evening with.

Let’s get the bad out of the way first. Greeters, sucked. Bartender, sucked. Server, sucked. When I arrived the greeters/hostesses didn’t smile or acknowledge me as I stood there in front of them and watched them play around on their computer. Awkward. Even with a reservation we had to wait and was handed a buzzer. We went to the bar, there were two other people there. We were never acknowledged, or asked for a drink order, this went on for so long our buzzer went off, so no drink at the bar for us. Dear Benihana bartender, you suck. When we were seated, the server came by gave us our menu, asked if anyone had birthday coupons, checked the ID of the two we had at the table, then immediately asked for our orders. We had about one minute to look at the menu. My boyfriend felt so rushed he just ordered what I did, the Land and Sea. We also finally ordered our drinks. A Manhattan and a Beni-tini, these didn’t come until after we finished our soup and started on our salad. One more time, bartender, you suck. My last gripe, our server was bad. She did not come back to check on us. We had to get up and hunt her down for another drink order. When it came she brought it to the people across from us who did not order it. She also put our drinks on their check at the end of the meal. This would have worked in our favor had no one noticed. My water sat empty for quite a while, I was on the verge of hunting her down again for that, but she actually showed up to the table for once. She also screwed up an order for the people next to us. Poor guy didn’t get the lobster he ordered… Now this stuff alone would have warranted a 1 or 2 rating for me. However, the food and that shrimp sauce was just that good. Well, let me be honest, I only come for the shrimp sauce, which was enough to carry the whole meal, I put it on everything. And yes, I went with two shrimp sauce, no ginger sauce for this girl. We started with the onion and mushroom soup. It’s a nice clear broth that gets your taste buds going. Next up is your salad with some sort of ginger dressing. I liked the tanginess. At this point I’m full and could have stopped, but of course I didn’t. The Land and Sea was the filet mignon and scallops, and I went with the chicken fried rice instead of steamed. The filet was cooked perfectly to my liking, medium rare, the scallops unfortunately were overcooked. I basically bathed my rice in the shrimp sauce and it was delicious. All the sides were just right, shrimp, zucchini, onions, mushrooms. The veggies were a nice break. Our chef was Antonio, and he was awesome! Aside from my overdone scallops, everything else was really good, and he kept my shrimp sauce bowl filled. I also liked that he didn’t force us to be interactive. I’ve been to teppenyaki restaurants where the chef just constantly throws stuff at you and needs attention. Some people like it, I prefer to just watch and have a conversation with my dinner companion. I hope they get their stuff together because the food is so good and could easily be a 4 or 5. Maybe train people on how to acknowledge guests quickly and say hello, decreasing wait time on drinks would help too.

For years, I’ve heard people rave about Benihana… RAVE. I finally took the leap and made my way to the teppanyaki table. There were four of us(birthday!!!) and two other couples joined us to round out the table(someone else had a birthday too!). The smells are amazing and it’s one of the first things that hit you as you enter. The décor is your typical pass at Japanese themes(really cool samurai in the bar) and there are plenty of teppanyaki tables around the restaurant. It was a long work week and I really needed a bev, what better way to end the week but with a Sapporo!!! There were beers all around and we had to get a Spider Roll, one of my go-to’s whenever I’m at a sushi place(pretty solid too, fresh and always with a bit of ginger and wasabi). We ended up ordering… * Rocky’s Choice(steak and chicken) * Benihana Delight(chicken and shrimp) * Benihana Trio(steak, chicken and shrimp) * Deluxe Treat(filet mignon and lobster tail) Now…in my opinion, the best item of the evening was the fried rice(which is extra) with shrimp sauce… seriously could eat that all day long! All around the steak was good, chicken cooked just right and the shrimp was perfect. The skills of our table chef(Augustine) was fantastic, plenty of flippies with utensils, randomly shaking salt on peeps(fake of course) and was a jokester(apparently I blindly nodded to chicken nuggets when repeating orders). Here’s why I think it’s «a-ok»…it’s stupid expensive. When I really think about it, the amount of food I received was literally a single plate, which cost nearly $ 40. It was fun, it was good, but damn it wasn’t cheap.

What a fun place to celebrate your birthday! The birthday club $ 30 gift certificate got me so much more than I was expecting. First off, every meal comes with a lemon shrimp appetizer served with grilled onions and zucchini, a mild onion based broth soup with mushrooms, and a fresh garden salad with a ginger dressing. I was completely surprised what a value this was! For dinner I had a seafood combination with seared scallops, jumbo shrimp and large pieces of calamari steak. You get the choice to upgrade to fried rice from white rice for $ 3, which I am really glad I didn’t go for. There is already so much food to try, it would just weigh you down. The seafood was perfect with white rice. I also had the«pure dawn» cold sake which was crisp and for a first timer quite enjoyable. The other couples at my table were dousing their food items in the pink shrimp sauce which I thought was a complete disservice to the food that was prepared for us. I thought everything was light and flavorful just as it was and dunking it in the Japanese equivalent of ranch was a huge waste on their part, you can do that at McDonalds. I’m not saying that the sauce was bad, it was good. I believe that there are flavors that can hold their own against mayo, and the ones that were served to us definitely qualified. The chef was a great entertainer as expected, I was very happy with the whole experience. I will definitely be back next year.

I love Benihana! The shrimp sauce is crack! FYI you can order this to bring home. I could eat it on everything, however it is not at all the Benihana locations(huge disappointment in AZ). They offer a $ 30 bday coupon which is a great offer(they have changed the restrictions and you cannot use on weekends). Carlos is one of my favorite Chefs and he was ON last night. We sat with cool people last night which added to the fun. The service was good… you want to make sure you get the waitress(cannot remember her name) who sings happy birthday like no other. Let’s just say it is NOT music to your ears, but the E factor is totally worth it! The renovations look great… the old Samurai needed a face lift!
